Thank God I saw Sam and Max on TrueReligion_'s avatar. I'm seriously about to give up on hermits this generation. Definitely not like the 2004 era, that's for sure. Then again, those ones weren't like the 80s/90s ones.

PC gaming goes to higher heights because it can afford to have things consoles cannot. Consoles live off big budget, mainstream formula (save the crazy *** titles).

PCs give fame to sim titles, adventure titles (I'm so disappointed no one here is an avid adventure gaming fan) and other pioneering, genre-bending titles.

It's becoming the thing (or has become) where PC gaming is about bigger and better versions of a console game, rather than appreciating the artistic creativity.

Anyways, TrueReligion_, with that set up, how are you finding S.T.A.L.K.E.R? Running smoothly?

Your laptop doesn't recognize 4GB because you need the 64bit version of Vista.

The 8600 is, generally, a weak graphics card in comparison to the 7900 or x1900xt.

But, you should still be able to run it at a decent rate. Are all your drivers updated?

STALKER runs like crap on Vista. I was running I couldn't even run it maxxed out on Vista with 2GB of RAM, E6400, and a 7800GT OC'ed. Went back to XP and it's running beautifully maxxed out with nice frames. I've also heard it has problems with the G80's. It runs better on older hardware for some reason.

That may be a Vista issue, ive heard extremely bad things about Stalker and Vista even with the latest patches, my PC isin't much different to that (AMD X2 4400+939Pin,2GB DDR400, 7900GTX)but i ran it under XP and had no issues at almost max settings.

Yeah I know it's weak compared to that, but it's the only thing you can get on a Mac (no, that's not the problem).

Then again, I only freshly installed the 1.0 version (straight off the DVD) and played it without restarting or anything. No patch, no nothing. And the FMVs were oddly lagging too. So I'll give it another try.

Yea, but halo was bought by 2.4million 13 yr olds. Halo is a repetitive game. I mean this is the sense that halo2 IS halo 1 albeit with a few more guns, and some graphical polish (before someone calls anything thats pwns on PC reptetive)

Yeah, I was in a discussion a few days ago. And we kinda came to the conclusion that this is "System Wars", the only games that spark any interest in this forum are games that can be compared to other systems.

Crysis, as it is, is the only PC exclusive console gamers give a damn about. I'd like to talk about Starcraft 2, and COH's upcoming expansion. Hellgate London, NWN2's upcoming expansion... but you think the rest of System Wars will give a damn? I'd rather be in the PC Games forum.
