Pretty shallow if you judge games simply by graphics... I play Zelda OoT more than TP. I still play the first Halo over many of today's fps too, there's more to games than graphics.
when i look at crysis screenshots that hermits post i say "damn lol kz2 looks more epic, hermits wasted $5000 just to run crysis on low"

I had a similar experience once. Just go play a lot of PS1 games or early PS2 games ( I recommend ONI), and before you know it you'll think all current gen games look GREAT.
Crysis hasn't ruined nothing for me...I still enjoy my consoles games including Counter Strike for my Pc plus i care only about good multiplayer games either from pc or consoles " buttom line is that Crysis is all show and no go plus graphics gets old pretty fast "
lol console kids think just because crysis has good graphics it cant have good gameplay it has both, but not the best. the game kinda sucks compared to even quake 1 because you cant rocket jump, or grenade, you cant shoot underwater. and you move pretty slow compared to quake, you can move fast for a second, but there's a limited sprint has a meter has to recharg and you can overall move faster at constant rate on quake. also there's a meter for the high jump. quake's gameplay is just overall more fun. crysis deathmatch is better than halo's though by far.
I agree with TC. It's not just Crysis' graphics, it's the whole game - how it's so technically advanced that it just can't be played on consoles. It's non-linearity and fantastic gameplay make me feel cheated by the limitations of this console generation. In short, Crysis is a game which consolites will receive next-gen while PC gamers have already gotten off to it. Quit rubbing it in.

There's so much more to games than just being technically impressive though.I think it's a great game but I don't think it stands out as better than anything on consoles. There's no other shooter quite like it as far as realistic looking graphics go and that coupled with the non-linear parts of the gameplay do make it pretty amazing. On the other hand, I didn't find the whole concept, story, weapons, enemies and characters to be very interesting or original. Besides that, in response to the TC's focus on graphics, I still think many 360/PS3 and even some Wii games look great after playing Crysis.
Crysis would be just one of the top ten games I've played this generation. Does it ruin the generation for me? No. Not even close.

HD is most certainly NOT overrated. The problem is people who think graphics are everything. Blame the people not the tech. He IS blaming the people, not the tech. Overrated means people give it more importance than it deserves. What are you talking about?

I know that dude, of course! But from what I've seen of Crysis and Crysis Warhead, it's the gameplay itself that makes my jaw hit the floor. And a mate of mine, who's opinion I really value, told me it's the best shooter he's ever played. It's just a beast of a game that taints my PS3 for me, just a little, though. I mean when you buy a "next-gen" console, you want it to truely feel next-gen. The fact that it can't play a game from 2007 is just annoying.
At some point in SW, some Cow was saying that Crysis doesn't have a lot going on on-screen compared to KZ2. Some Hermit in response posted a few Crysis Warhead youtube vids that were just unreal and so much greater than any current-gen console FPS could ever be. I wish I could post those vids now, I can't even find them on youtube. I think they had weird names...
I can say that after playing kz2 first, then later when I got my rig, crysis...Well...I wasnt blown away. I play on High for optimal settings but switch it up once in a while to very high to admire the graphics. I am without a doubt impressed but I think people need to just get over it. As an honest opinion. The gameplay is by no means average, since you get such a rush if you use your imagination with the environment and suit tools, but you can only do so much is the way I see it. Plus I kinda lose interest once you start fighting the alien robot things lol. Forgive for not knowing the name, I really dont have interest in the story at all other than knowing they are mining towards them and are pretty much unleashing hell haha.
I just play for the eyecandy and to wreck some soldiers up. Personally I dont feel spoiled but I guess thats just me. Its not all about graphics this gen.
Actually half life 2 is what ruined this generation for me. HL2 is just the most perfect looking game imo. The fact that it came out in 04 and looks better than most games this gen really ruins this gen for me. Silenthps
Agreed. The source engine is heavily underrated on system wars. I remember seeing the first HL2 E3 video. It was a 10 minute presentation on the source engine, back in 03 i think....and wow. Nothing had blown me away like that since. But I love Crysis, so whatever.

Agreed. Console graphics are only relevant to those who don't own a PC capable of playing Crysis. It's a shame developers haven't figured this out yet, trying to impress us with one generic shooter after another. I want a decent JRPG this generation for christ sake.

That's three people now I have asked to justify their criticism of Crysis, only to have them put up the opinion/preference shield or just outright ignore me.
Is it really too much to ask to have someone explain why they think Crysis was a bad game? If you cannot/refuse to justify your criticism then don't make one, it just makes you look like a hateboy criticising a game because it is popular on a 'enemy' platform.

and cod4 is a complete joke of a fps cod1 with lots of eyecandy that's it. crysis has some of the best gameplay and level design of any fps this gen. it's consollites that only see the eye candy.

The story was pretty lame, I didn't like the Aliens, I didn't find it fun, and it just didn't click. I didn't have the same level of fun with it as I've had with other games. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. I enjoyed it the same as Far Cry 2 which is around 7.0/10 range. I enjoyed Halo 3 more to be honest as an overall package. In fact, I enjoyed many shooters more. Resistance 2, Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Call of Duty 4, Battlefield Bad Company...
InFAMOUS review comes out, and I look at the graphics and go "Pffft"
But then my wife plays Phantasy Star Online on the Wii yesterday, and I look at those graphics and remember when they were some of the best available.
So I take off my "Pfft" goggles and go back to watch the IGN Video Review for InFAMOUS again and judge that the graphics really are pretty dang good.
Wondering what made the difference, I realized that Crysis has spoiled me. It's made my expectations too high. When I look at ANYTHING that can't compare to Crysis (and nothing can) all I can see is faults now.
I think Crysis has ruined this generation - it made console graphics outdated before the generation even had a chance to really start.
