Crysis the best looking, most photorealistic game ever! Nuff said.

Crysis 2 an looks way better than KZ3 or any console game for that matter .

Wow, in the long history of me being in System Wars, I have never actually taken someone elses opinion as a fact.

Thanks for being honest! For the record I have a PS3 and I played Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 while they look great (I liked Uncharted 2) but they are nothing compared to Crysis/Crysis Warhead. Crysis/Crysis Warhead is leaps and bounds ahead of Killzone 2/3 and Uncharted 2, modded Crysis light years ahead. It's truely a game ahead of it's time. I remember after killing all the bad guys in the game I would just look around at the amazing graphics, maybe take a dip in the water, watch as the sun rays goes through the palm trees or take one of those vehicles in the game and drive around on the island, I would just sit there and look at the beautiful graphics. Can't remember the last time I did that for a game, maybe when Unreal 1 came out, which had a similar open environment when compared to games like Quake 2 in it's time. But Crysis is a bigger graphics revolution compared to Unreal 1. Even in 2010, almost 3 years after it's realease it's Graphics King and will be when compared to any current or future console games. Unreal 1 wasn't graphics king for that long, got beat by Quake 3 in '99. I showed this jungle clip to my friends who game only on consoles and they are like "it's real", thier eyes lit up because they have not seen anything like it on the consoles. Anybody who doesn't have any console fanboy blinders on can tell you that when they see that clip the photorealistic graphics hit at you, that you go "it's almost real". Crysis is that good!

Using a 3 year old game with outdated AI and mechanics is a great way to pwn other consoles!

Uh, this is a level that you could play in multiplayer as well as with computer AI. Not, to mention you could use the settings that he set in config files to get it look like in that in the video and to play the entire game again. You fail in your understanding on Crysis in that Crysis graphics settings can be tweaked to make it look better, that applies to the ENTIRE game. Not just this level. Epic fail.

Realism is an art style.

But,you may like cel shaded Crysis...

Crysis isn´t just a realistic looking FPS,it can be whatever you want,including a third person cel shaded shooter.

After discussing the legality of the project with Sony it turns out that the project has to be canceled.

So this is the end of this line, don't worry though there are bigger challenges ahead with more chunks of everything flying around,
fountains of hot lead, out-worldly surroundings, more and even faster action coupled with original and totally twisted stories.

Um, since when do companies have the right to say to independent modders that we can't do this and that. Just because PCs have the ability to make Crysis to look like Killzone 3 while the consoles can't doesn't mean that we can't. Hmm....I wonder what would have happened if we didn't use the word "Killzone" and just called it something else. I am guessing that they would still get on their case. People should just make it anyways and just leak it on the net..there's is no way Sony would be able to go after all the users. :P

Right...Crysis doesn't have the polish, production values, lip synching,...animation, and lol HUGELY varied environments. I guess the combination of fighting in varied outside environments, inside a mine shaft, inside mountains, on an aircraft carrier (inside and outside), inside alien spaceship, etc... the list goes on, something that Uncharted 2 can only dream of doesn't count as hugely varied. Proves that you haven't played the game.

Please, enlighten us on what this "overall package" that Crysis doesn't have.

Also show us an in-game screenshot of near photo-realistic graphics in Uncharted 2 that tops this.......

I really wish Crysis got more props for its gameplay. Even though it's the best of the best technically and graphically, I'm not very big on its visual design. But I finished the game more than a dozen times.

It's one of the two games to progress core FPS gameplay, yet rarely recieves that kind of credit.

Uncharted 2 environment is only varied when it comes to look.

That's it, color schemes,platforming but the game is linear.

Sure, you can see snow, lake,mountains, jungle but you can't really interact with them.

It's not only linear but it limits what player must and can do.

CRYSIS has almost zero rule!!! You can go anywhere,anytime.

You can do some **** like throwing chicken into a North Korean's soldier.

Uncharted 2 is shoot, run, platform, take cover, etc. If you insist on cut-scenes, sure it's polished but it is not fully real time on the fly like Crysis.

Crysis doesn't need a scripted events like train vs helicopter or jeep chasing you to impress us.

Explosions, awesome moments are all triggered by you in Crysis.

It has interactive PHYSICS and Environment.

It has the freedom of play-style.

Keep dreaming you Cell Worshiper.

Personally, I liked UC2. It may not be as close to photorealism as Crysis. But, it's a wonderful game in its own right. It has the colors and details I wish the PC Tomb Raider games had.

I threw it out there just the same way poster #5 did. Mods count when comparing PCs to consoles or two modded PC games like Arma and Crysis, but I think its unfair to pit a modded Crysis with some console games and start calling ownage.

Anyway I just reread his OP and saw that he mentioned it was a mod and that the pic was directed at people claiming console games look better than Crysis. I usually skim through posts when they deal with Crysis since its the most talked PC topic and always come a bunch of screen shots.

My original feeling was that the TC never played Crysis and saw this pic and created a thread about photorealism, so I threw out the fact. Thats all.

funny i was just playing crysis a minute ago and now i encounter this thread. The game may look good, but its so boring to play. I run the game on high and the foliage looks pretty bad. :?

Crysis looks fantastic, but I think its the gameplay that makes the game so amazing, not the graphics. It still is the best looking game ever, but anyone who says that it is 100 times better than Uncharted 2 is simply wrong. Uncharted 2 is very very very close to the graphics of Crysis.

Yes I have played Crysis all the way through on Very High and have played Uncharted 2 on my PS3, even regular Crysis would still ownUncharted 2 and do things it can only dream of. Not to mention inUncharted 2 it's not a VAST environment like Crysis, it's mostly closed quarters. So, Crysis doing what it does in such a vast scale is all the more impressive. There is a reason why newer gen video cards which are light years ahead of the PS3 still struggels to play Crysis at high resolutions.

LMAO, Super Mario Galaxy 2 got 10 on the Wii, Wii plays it is considerably cheaper. So who's winning here? I guess that means Super Mario Galaxy > pwns Crysis graphics. Fail.

For me, it's not important what people think of the game. I like the game. I replayed and finished both Crysis and Warhead a few days ago. The game is still very fresh to me even if it's in vanilla form (and only at 1280x768). Plus, it's only been 10 months since I first played the demo. So, posting yet more pics isn't old yet for me:

Edit: Don't mind the framerate on the first two. I was testing out some custom autoexec.cfg file to see if it added anything. It didn't add anything obvious except drop the frame rates. So, I deleted it afterwards.

The guns looks real.

But that tree up close didn't really strike me as very realistic...
