I think consoles need to stop devouring every great FPS on the PC.UnknownSniper65
Every time we lose one we also gain one :P We lose Battlefield but gain STALKER, we lose Crysis, but gain Shattered Horizon. Also we're about to get Battlefield back :P BF3 8)

That's not going to stay exclusive, unless EA hates money.

 Bad Company is the consoles Battlefield, DICE is making BF3 for PC. If they couldn't make BF2 with its massive scale/64 players, work for consoles than BF3 is out of the question. Heck BC2 on consoles only has 24 player online.

i buy a laptop, i'm not goign to wait for them to send me a battery, give me a full working product before you release it kthx, and i'm a pc gamer. But on consoles its even worse, youre building for 1 system, if it doesn't work good for that system then you should have fixed it before took people's money for it.

It's true. Developing these things is extremely complex, yet you hear some people criticizing very minor things as if they knew what goes into making these things.. oh well, we can hope our industry will mature as time goes on.

Crytek certainly has a unique way of advertising their products. It seems like the most they can get their word out about their game the better whether its good or bad.

A conviently 'working' link for you unappreciative consolites!

---

Cervat Yerli, CEO of Crytek, has told OXM that:

"I simplified it for our guys by saying there is one difference between the PC gamer and console gamer. I said the single most important difference is a PC gamer forgives you for about a minute. A console gamer gives you two seconds. It sucks or it fails and you're either the top or a flop. They don't respect any value you put into your development, either it works or it doesn't work."

He goes on to explain how this pressure has ultimately made Crysis 2 a better game.

---

Personally, I'm a console gamer primarily and I totally respect and appreciate the work devs put into games! I think that console gamers are generally less patient though lol. On the other hand, his conception of console gamers has improved the quality of this game :P. What do you think?

Episode_Eve
I do too, that's why I buy my games new even if I have to wait a while for the price to come down. He is right, look at all the suckers that bought MW2's glitcharific mess.

Hmmm but thats how a consumer should be.

A consumer should look for what works not be lead around on heartstrings *of which he is very wrong that we aren't lead that way since Console gamers are very fanboyish and will forgive any thing by our chosen systems and games* but thats how it should be, We shouldn't care what went into a system we should care that it works, gives us what we want.

If I go to play a fighting game it needs to work as a fighter.

mmmhmmm, i could care less of all the engineering that went into my car, my breaks don't work i'm upset. They shouldn't sell a product thinking they can just patch up problems after.

Well, console gamers tend to hold greater value for a dollar because they pay for games rather than steal them. We dont like waisting money on bad games.

We don't all steal games though. Piracy is also happening on the console platform, just not quite as rampant.

The writer for Crysis 2 was talking about how Halo 3's story is horrible? Well, for those who have beaten Crysis, can you honestly tell me if they have an amazing story or something? While I don't feel by any means that Halo games have a great story, I definitely do not think that it's as bad as the Crysis 2 writer makes it..

The story is crap imo, but Halo is far worse. Halo has the universe to make a potential epic story, it falls way short though.

Way to generalise. Looks like someone's just been butthurt and felt the need to express his frustrations by having a go at a huge group of gamers. Even in relative terms, I'd have to say that statement is totally untrue, by the way.

DraugenCP

It's actually not.

If a game like Stalker: SoC was released on console it would've been bashed to hell and back. Why? It was quite unplayable at launch, but PC gamers stuck with it knowing patches would come out and the game would be fixed.

There's plenty of console games that need to get patched but never get the chance. Kids just cry and post on forums about how overrated the developer is.

"I said the single most important difference is a PC gamer forgives you for about a minute. A console gamer gives you two seconds. It sucks or it fails and you're either the top or a flop."

That actually sounds about right judging from what I seen from both crowds. Although, I do think a man in his position shouldn't be saying such things, it's something that does need to be said from a person that holds more weight than a typical gamer.

The main reason why this has come to be is because a console gamer will can rent or return your game if he doesn't like it. PC gamers invest $50 with no refund garanteed and they are used to huge patches to make big gameplay changes over time. As long as you keep PC gamers informed they typically won't give up on your game until you provided the needed changes if any.

Yes I know generalizing isn't the greatest thing to do, but it does hold true that many do have the same mindset on either side of this when it comes to these things.

What he said is true. Just look at System Wars. Or just quote one of the most touted reasons why console gamers do not like to game on the PC... "OH PC IS JUST TOO TROUBLESOME! I HAVE TO DO THIS, HAVE TO DO THAT, THE GAMES ARE TOO BUGGY, HAVE TO DOWNLOAD DRIVERS, PATCH THIS, PATCH THAT...bla bla yadda yadda".... You've all seen it and read it before. So seriously, is the guy totally wrong? It may be a harsh and sweeping generalisation but its true generally. Now if some of you calm down, it can also be regarded as a compliment too.

Actually I consider it running your mouth when all we have on the game is a teaser trailer and tech demo's. I hate any company who talk so much about their games with very little to show. Show me don't tell me.

Sure he is allowed an opinion. An informed one that doesn't make him sound like a presumptuous douche. To be honest its tiring when for the past week you hearing nothing but smack talk coming from a company.

Well I found his comment pretty accurate, I'm sure he's purposely trying to shut down sales for Crysis 2 on consoles so they can go back to being a PC exclusive again after complaining that PC has to much piracy to go to consoles.

You guys realize he's speaking in general terms right? Why are you all getting bent out of shape?AAllxxjjnn
Because he is making comments on things he can't possibly know? I have a problem with people who use pigeon hole logic?

I think console gamers are more often 10 years old and PC gamers are usually... older than that. I think when you get older you start to... hate things a little less. To put it simply. But yeah, this doesn't even make sense.

He's way off base. "Gamers" will say your game sucks before they've even played it.

PC gamers do it too.

and you are making comments when you fail to understand the context and have no idea what he was even speaking about, because you read a terrible, biased article.

The interview this was from was mostly about how they have "streamlined" the game. Console gamers in general want faster paced, action-oriented gameplay and demand that a game hooks them in the first minute or so of gameplay. The comment was about how, no matter how long a developer spends making a section of a game, if it doesn't immediately do something for them from a gameplay perspective, they won't be interested in it. That is a generalization, but it happens to be supported by a number of studies.
