A dedicated third party wii survival horror game on the wii. Most wii owners heard about this game about 2 weeks ago. I got this source from a member over at neogaf, and thought i should bring it here. Theres people who are interested in this dedicated project.

Ingame, off-screen pics (some from the not-trailer)

Game is more advanced, looks better, this is old version. In-game not-trailer (official soon) shown. Some highlights from a partner:

- Huge enviroments inspired by trully Himalayian places. Not only mountains and paths, but town, villages, temples and monastery, as well.

- A lot of reseach about people and buddhism to get a trully behavior in CPU characters. They can be persons, phantoms, souls, demons, etc.

- Even with the big enviroments, solid graphics in buildings and many textures. Also good particle effects. Not so good character design and animation yet, early version.

- Why Wii?
1st: Wii is "pretty powerfull" and they can got all they want: enviroments, effects, etc
2nd: They are really interested in motion sense for erverything: combat, climbing... They didn´t want just to press a button once a again, they want a real fight with hard movement (he moved his armed hardly)

- Find out what is real and what is an illusion.

- It is a mix of survival horror and exploration in the adventure, with some climbing as well. There will some issues to resolve to go ahead, but not ****cal combination puzzles

(note: game is far from complete)
off screen video of the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgneAqwmFOA

what makes it uninspired and generic? what makes it even ps2 looking? its basically a small tech demo of the game, which is hardly complete. people are too quick to jump to conclusion.

It looks "uninspired and generic" because it looks like a billion other games we've seen a billion other times. There is nothing compelling or original in those screens.

It looks "PS2-looking" because, well, it looks exactly like a PS2 game.

He's just upset that Wii is getting all the third party development.

Large scale Survival Horror games aren't that common dude. I'm happy with it's announcement.

it looks like a billion other games you seen billion of times. i guess you dont play first person shooters then, guess you dont play action games then, guess you don't play RPGs, cause most of them are pretty much the same. The idea of the game is pretty fresh and different, from most games.

it looks like a ps2 game.... "work in progress", the game is far from complete, plus your judging the game from a poor quality off screen video? theres things going on in the game, that wouldnt be done on the ps2, like the draw distance for example.

Deep Silver has developed a game engine that makes the most of Nintendo's console. "The entire game is realtime 3D," said Seifert. We really push the Wii hardware regarding lighting, shaders, geometry, audio, and animation. Cursed Mountain is not about technology, but about the gameplay experience, but many current games really seem to underutilize the hardware."

It is exactly this engine that enables some impressive multi-tier views of the expansive world. "The setting requires a great impression of distance. The entire country is set at such high altitude that looking up at over 26,000 feet high mountains and also looking down again is a vital part of the experience. You start from a typical Himalayan valley and continuously get higher and higher," he explained.

SotC had better draw distance as well.

judging companies by license agreements with other companies. You people tried this with high voltage. just cause a company is forced to do games for other companies, dosent mean there not good developers. Theres a lot of unname developers who actually made projects that came out good. theres freaking home brew developers who actually made games, that were far better than big funded companies. youre not really proving anything. These guys had some doing with stalker too, if you wanna go there.

first of all. its on the wii. the ps2 for starters wasnt even a good hardware. if the game even add shaders, its doing more than what the ps2 could ever do. Theres a few other things the game could do, that differentiate it from the ps2, with out even trying hard.

Sotc had a draw distance, in a barren world, with much going on. The game still had pop-ups, when you moved closer to objects, though. The game also had a iffy frame rate.

deep silver is also developing the game aslo. i mean they created the engine for the game. Both companies are in the development of the game. the number of people working on this game is split between the 2 companies, which is why theres 100+ staffers on this project. (higher number then your average wii developed game)

You realise the idea of being a games developer is to make great games. Not every developers has the money, or wants to, make games with "TEH SHINY" graphics. If they wanted to make awesome looking 3d models they'd go work at Pixar not work with games.

Also why does everything have to be Shiny because people aren't shiny yet some games have people that are Shiny you might have one spot that is Shiny but that is from Sweat but it also has to have Sun but still games have People shiny when they don't have Sun or a light source other then Natural light but if you can't see the sun they shouldn't be shiny also for people wearing armor only one part of the Armor will be White from the light because if you look at Metals in the Sun only one spot is completely white and it is usually a really small spot.

That really does depend on budget, not to mention the goal of the game. In a survival-horror game atmosphere is important, so enticing graphics need to be at least decent (lighting is more important than textures). However, since this is a low budget developer, they're probably going to take the storytelling route since it doesn't require the mid-end graphics of the 360/PS3. That's entirely fine as long as it's what they focus on. People who generalize don't think beneath the surface and stay close-minded.

Hey look, another uninspired generic PS2-looking Wii game.

Great.

VendettaRed07

well atleast its not an uninspired generic ps2 looking game with a bunch of lame cell shaded anime characters running around

To me just looking at the Backgrounds it looks better then anything I saw on the PS2 (The newest PS2 game I played was Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater) But the Backgrounds look good the foregrounds don't look that good but these are Offscreen shots.

It doesn't look like a PS2 game. It looks worse than a PS2 game.

It doesn't look very good either.

It's my favorite genre, but ... no, sorry, not interested.

You must not play many games then!

I play lots of games. Enough to know that even though it can pull off a little more than a PS2, most PS2 games are visually superior to the screens. The only thing the wii is pulling off is bigger environments.

The Wii is Powerful not as much as the 360 and PS3 but it can do more then what was shown so far I can't wait till Factor 5's game because it will atleast show what the Wii is capable of.

DireToad

lol ok

that comment is from the developers mouth.

Which is why it's even worse. They can do "all they want" with the Wii's hardware that's "pretty powerful"?

I knew sheep had lowered expectations this gen but I didn't think devs had lowered ambitions too.

Sorry but not all games need a bunch of slapped on hd textures and lighting in order for a game to be good. The whole point of having a more powerful console is to allow more creative freedom for devs. But not all games need alot of power in order to achieve a devs artistic vision. Some games need tons of enemies on the screen, like dead rising and some dont. Some needs advanced physics or ai and some dont. Some need advanced lighting and some dont. If these devs say that the wii is powerful enough for them to achieve their artistic vision then who cares if it doesn't have those shiny next gen graphix.
