DA2 is an excellent example of PC gaming holding back the industry. It is clear Bioware was going for something different this time, just watch some gameplay and you will know what I mean, they were clearly going for something different than the previous DA.

Seeing Bioware's aim and knowing their great developing skills and vast resources, if it wasn't for the PC, DA2 would a deep, fast paced hack and slash game with an above average story. But now just look at it.... for it to appeal to the PC crowd they are keeping half-assed RPG elements and in order for the game to be playable with mouse and keyboard they turned it into a mediocre, shallow and slow hack and slash title. Basically instead of being more like Ninja Gaiden or DMC its designed to have a shallow point and click gameplay to appeal to the PC crowd.

Yes, because clearly DA2 is an action game and not an RPG.

This is obvious of course because Bioware is a long time developer of action games likebayonetta, Diablo, and Ninja Gaiden. And who coud forget their best series ever: God of War.

I dont care or follow DA, although I have seen a vid or two of both, and that would be their first mistake. PC can do anything, so if they have a vision go for it and dont half ass it to appeal to half a crowd. I think most people who play PC would rather they keep it the same or change it completely.

Sarcasm? Can't tell.

If not.. well it seems you are saying the PC kept the game as a RPG instead of hack n slash!

I don't think so... But I will say that blaming consoles for DA2 (like a few people have...), makes about as much sense as saying ME2 was dumbed down for the PC/PS3 crowd?

Even if Bioware isn't the most skilled at hack and slash they would have still done something better than what they are doing now. They wasted resources and time creating mediocre RPG elements and kept the game's point and click system for attacking instead of a combo system. This was clearly done to appeal to the PC crowd, it wouldn't have happened if DA2 was a console exclusive.

It would of been a Action RPG with shallow RPG elements or a decent one like Jade Empire in that case. It wouldn't of been an Action game.

Oh not this again, this is straight non sense.

Dragon Age Origins was way better on pc, much better tactical and slower paced combat. I dont want fast paced DMC combat in my rpgs sorry.

Even gamespot gave the pc version higher then xbox and ps3 for Dragon Age.

Saying that PC is holding back the Dragon Age series is kind of silly.

Dragon Age series is an rpg series, not an action or DMC type of game. I think you are looking in the wrong spot and genre for that type of game. The Hack and Slash action genre is that way >>>>

That actually proves my point.... Japanese developers tend to focus on PC gaming WAY less than western ones. It also just so happens that Japan is the one coming up with all the deep action games. Coincidence? I think not. DA2 is an excellent example but this is happening across most Western developers. PC gaming is CLEARLY holding back the industry.

Both "Games For Windows" and Xbox 360 uses the same Microsoft Xinput APIs.

DA2 is closer to Bioware's Jade Empire.

There is actualy depth in the combat systems compared to Western titles like God of War. Try button mashing on Master Ninja in Ninja Gaiden Black and see how far you'll get.

It's relevant since it's required for "Games For Windows". Most console ports to the PC runs fine on the PC.

As I said, the fact that they work is irrelevant. What matters is that it affects the development process; Bioware and almost anyone making a PC game will have the mouse and keyboard in mind and NOT the controller in order to appeal to the PC crowd who prefers the M&KB.

With the PC game, controls can be remapped to suite the player.

That doesn't have anything to do with my post...

[QUOTE="jasonharris48"]

[QUOTE="ronvalencia"] What's "deep" about them?

ronvalencia

There is actualy depth in the combat systems compared to Western titles like God of War. Try button mashing on Master Ninja in Ninja Gaiden Black and see how far you'll get.

PS2/PSP "big-E**" says Hi on God of War. The Windows PC has the option for Xbox 360 controller. Treat the PC like Adobe Professional (editor+ viewer) vs Xbox 360's Adobe Reader(viewer).. **Can't say the "E" word in system wars.

What does that have to do with my post?

yep holding it back from being a truely woeful hack and slash experience 8)

Our Dragon Age 2 review is in, and we've given it a score worthy of an Editor's Choice award, calling it "darkier, sexier, better." You can read the full review on February 16 when the latest issue of PC Gamer UK hits store shelves.

Satisfying, lightning-fast combat and spectacular spacial moves helped Dragon Age 2 to take the PC Gamer Editor's Choice award, but the game excelled in other areas, too. A conversation system that doesn't restrict you with an arbitrary morality meter and the huge, evolving city of Kirkwall help to fill Dragon Age 2 with "more character and vitality than any title in recent memory".
