DA2 is an excellent example of PC gaming holding back the industry. It is clear Bioware was going for something different this time, just watch some gameplay and you will know what I mean, they were clearly going for something different than the previous DA.
alfredooo
Oh please. Just stop with your assuming. You really think telling us to "watch the video" to see "what you mean" is going to magically convince us of your viewpoint? Try again, buddy.

Our Dragon Age 2 review is in, and we've given it a score worthy of an Editor's Choice award, calling it "darkier, sexier, better." You can read the full review on February 16 when the latest issue of PC Gamer UK hits store shelves.
Satisfying, lightning-fast combat and spectacular spacial moves helped Dragon Age 2 to take the PC Gamer Editor's Choice award, but the game excelled in other areas, too. A conversation system that doesn't restrict you with an arbitrary morality meter and the huge, evolving city of Kirkwall help to fill Dragon Age 2 with "more character and vitality than any title in recent memory".Link to Bioware forums.

Not surprising considering the PC has LOWER STANDARDS for third person hack and slash combat.

Well the PC isn't known for Action titles in the first place lol. (especially being a popular genre in the East). That review is speaking in terms of an Action RPG title (very different genre)[QUOTE="N3xus9"]

HAHA play Ninja Gaiden Black on Master Ninja and try to button mash and see how far you'll get.because tc cant handle anything that requires him to plan and make decisions beyond button mashing

that makes no sense.... in fact, its the opposite. I enjoy games that aren't pure button mashing. That is why this thread exists.
okay bro, i wasnt the one wishing a rpg was instead a hack n slash

no bro, I never wished that. You completely missed my point. I like RPGs and I like hack and slash.
Its also funny that you think hack and slash = shallow, shows you have no knowledge of the genre.
Basically instead of being more like Ninja Gaiden or DMC its designed to have a shallow point and click gameplay to appeal to the PC crowd.
alfredooo
And DMC has its faults, such as puzzles and platforming ruining the pace of what could have been a better game.
Capcom must have been on drugs when they thought making Dante and Nero jump around like Mario in Donkey Kong added to the game.
PS2/PSP "big-E**" says Hi on God of War. The Windows PC has the option for Xbox 360 controller. You haven't defined why keyboard+mouse controls can't be mapped to a Xbox 360 controller and why keyboard+mouse can't have multi-level actions..
Example of a gaming keyboard
My Microsoft Habu mouse has 5 buttons e.g. left, right, middle/scroll, custom 1, custom 2. A PC keyboard has at least 101 keys.
Windows gaming mouse and keyboards can be programmed withmacro input sequencei.e. 1 button that triggers a sequence of inputs. I bet console owners wouldn't like thatnear "cheating"tricks when played against a PC player.
PS; I have wrote DirectInput-to-Xinput API bridge in C++.

What truth? A mouse can control player's POV and forward/backward motion. A keyboard with 101 keys can directly access the required action. PS I can touch type.[QUOTE="alfredooo"][QUOTE="Jankarcop"] you're gonna have to try harder than that to bait me, sonny boy :)ronvalencia

Seeing Bioware's aim and knowing their great developing skills and vast resources, if it wasn't for the PC, DA2 would a deep, fast paced hack and slash game with an above average story. But now just look at it.... for it to appeal to the PC crowd they are keeping half-assed RPG elements and in order for the game to be playable with mouse and keyboard they turned it into a mediocre, shallow and slow hack and slash title. Basically instead of being more like Ninja Gaiden or DMC its designed to have a shallow point and click gameplay to appeal to the PC crowd.

For proper testing, have you programmed Xinput API without an Xbox 360 controller?
I have an Xbox 360 controller. I treat Microsoft Xbox 360 controller the same asany of my Microsoft designed input devices e.g. Microsoft Natural Keyboard and Microsoft HabuMouse.

As I told you, the Xbox 360 controller is relevant. You can see Xbox 360 controller logo support on most PC action game boxes and Valve's Steam i.e. mostly from XBox 360 ports.

Japanese are also bad at strategy games, consoles are bad at strategy games too. Coincidence? I think not. That actually proves my point.... Japanese developers tend to focus on PC gaming WAY less than western ones. It also just so happens that Japan is the one coming up with all the deep action games. Coincidence? I think not. DA2 is an excellent example but this is happening across most Western developers. PC gaming is CLEARLY holding back the industry.
alfredooo
Without consoles DA2 would have amazing strategic combat instead of simplistic hack and slash one. DA2 was obviously held back by consoles.
I honestly think both are true. It was held back by both. Consoles made them dumb down the strategy element, while PC made them dumb down the hack and slash elemetnts. Because of that DA2 will likely be neither a good PC styled RPG nor console styled RPG

Bayonettalol imagine da as a dmc clone, the horror. Are you blaming pc for for trying to preserve that bit of strategy and complexity the original had?

i suggest go out buy DMC play on Dante must die and come back with the whole strategy bag.
just saying.

Using MS's GetAsyncKeyState() API, the programmer should able to detect multiple(e.g. 6) keys at a time. There's a problem with some PC keyboards not supporting more than 2 concurrent key presses.

I did already. These games are different. One relies on your reflexes and the other is about the strategy. If I want to play dmc I play dmc, bayonetta, gow. If I want to play a game where I want to control a team of four, pause in the middle of the fight queueing spells and potions depending on the situation I play DA. Totally different gameplays. Both Dmc and DA are great games for what they are but making one a clone of the other is just stupid. Is like making DMC a turn based game.

We already went through this.... Ninja Gaiden series, DMC series and more recently Bayonetta. You have probably never played any of those if you don't know what a deep action game is.
