Just tried the Demo, apparently you cant use High settings without having a Direct X 11 capable graphics card. And medium settings looked worst than DA high settings. Heck it was looking like a PS2 game.sandeep410It looks fine on DX 11. The models are sharp, the environments on the other hand look bad. Anyway, I hope no one is playing a Dragon Age game for the graphics. :P
thats why u buy an interesting looking game like the witcher 2 (im not even a wrpg fan and i think it looks 100x better then DA2)campzorthe witcher was boring. so 2 is bound to be boring too
You need a DX 11 rendering path (Vista/Windows 7) and DX10 hardware (4 year old video card) to run on High. this gives you SSAO which dramatically improves shadowing. The environment and objects appear to have much more depth.
You'll need DX 11 hardware to run on Very high which nets you tessellation, a much nicer depth of field effect and some other improvements.
The Demo did not have this stuff in it, but the full retail version will.
And it definitely looks a lot better with the full DX 11 path + high resolution textures (YES WE FINALLY GET HIGHER REZ TEXTURES ON PC FROM A BIOWARE GAME!)
It's still not Crysis, but it does not look "bad".
So i need now a directx 11 capable video card just to run a game which looks horrible than crysis which ran on dirext 9 fine.
Even char models looked horrible.Ogres in the orginal 1 looked better.
It doesn't look bad. It's all very fluid and good in motion, my problem with the demo was that enabling DX11 caused the frame rate to implode. skrat_01
I was shocked that my pc had trouble with it, It may have just been an odd spot in the game that's more demanding than the rest because my pc can handle Crysis max at 1080p without AA but DA2 was struggling to run with 4AA everything maxed. I turned AA off and it ran smoothly. It was odd to see such a noticable jump just from AA and even odder to see a GTX570 having trouble with the game.

I have a feeling the thing is still undergoing polish; settings being locked off and all. Do hope it is, I was baffled how much pressure it was putting on my 460 1.5gb.The Demo's DX 11 renderer is buggy, has poor performance and doesn't work as expected.
Bio has confirmed this and said that you should use the DX9 renderer for the Demo.
The problem is that the demo is put together using an older build of the game. Bio says, these issues do not exist in the final game.

I don't get why people care so much about graphics for this game, but I wish there was more colors in the environment.

It does'nt work properly at best.
DX11 brought my rig to it's knees in a really bad way. It might be that dx11 and SLI makes it even worse though because it was literally a slideshow and I refuse to believe that the DA2 demo is more demanding than Crysis and Metro 2033 put together. .
Graphics only matter when they detract from the game. The demo graphics are very detracting. The city is better, but pink sidewalk is just awful.I don't get why people care so much about graphics for this game, but I wish there was more colors in the environment.

The city doesn't look good to me either. It has no character at all. Just grey stones, no detail at all. On GS daily demo there is 30 min game-play, and the entire thing is just ugly low res textures with sterile environments. Either they didn't have time, or budget or both. Two Worlds II, the developers payed more attention and wanted to make a better game.I don't get why people care so much about graphics for this game, but I wish there was more colors in the environment.

Im pretty sure just one character from DA2 contains more polygons than an entire PS2 game. Please do stop overestimating the ps2's graphical capabillities
To be fair, DA1 looked outdated graphically when it came out too. Even the console version. I just think Bioware isn't obsessed with graphics as much as other companies and would rather make a quality game.

It doesn't make me feel like my thumb is cramping up even though its an actiony rpg too. I seriously think people are looking at DA:O's graphics through poop colored glasses here. I'm replaying it on the PS3 right now and it is a VERY good looking game. The DA2 demo looks way worse, and I'm not even getting to the terrible darkspawn design. They all look like that old sorceress lady from Willow.I don't get why people care so much about graphics for this game, but I wish there was more colors in the environment.

There is no sli profile... Play with a single card and it works fine. Same with pretty much any game without an official sli profile. I get like 5 frames with sli enabled, 60 without it.Cant even get a smooth frame rate with my I7950 and GTX470. Look like I will be forced to rent a console version.

For the upteenth time DX 11 is not working in the demo. Run DX9 instead. The full retail release should run a lot smoother on DX 11. With your rig you'll be able to max out the game in DX 11 1080p 4x AA 60+ fps. Why on earth would you play the inferior console version? Maybe you like pixelated textures? I'm not judging ;)
My question is why the hell are devs skipping DX10? It's not fair.percech
Why are all you people so uninformed:?
The DX11 renderer is DX10 +DX11. If you HAVE a DX10 CARD you can run the game on high setting. Very High is DX11.
It looks better than Dragon Age Origins in DX9 medium alone. In DX11 it looks amazing. But of course, it will never touch The Witcher 2. I don't know what you're seeing but the difference is obvious. DA2 looks better than DAO. It's much easier on the eyes now.Elann2008DA:O was nothing special, but DA:II pokes my eyes out with it's horrible looking environments.

But it looked really bad. Bad artstyle mixed with bad texturing. Honestly watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2W8an9-GbI tell me that anything from there looks good.
I don't understand all this hate for the visuals. The game looks fine, It doesen't look amazing, but neither did orgins. The gameplay is just as good, if not better then orgins from what I've played from the demo.
[QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="Lonelynight"]Wow, there's already a DA2 demo, I still haven't finished the first one yet...SkyWard20Your not missing much so take your time with DA. bet you the metascore of da 2 > the witcher 2. I don't understand your judgement for this demo at all. All it leads me to believe is that your expectations were extremely high...for a 30 min demo. There is no way you can analyze this game to death only playing 2 dungeon sections.

Well yes our expectations were high. It had a 91 metacritic, was the best PC game of 2009, and a sequel should only improve. I can't judge the whole game but you can judge the combat. Which is just dumbed down, and too fast to really set up any tactics. And the visuals which are eye soring. Please Log In to post.
