@speedfreak48t5p: Go back to playing pong.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
uh. this isn't some other console's exclusive losing it's multiplatform status in order to market another console.
this is a multiplatform game going even more multiplatform. destiny is already getting a similar spread across multiple platforms.
besides, there's a dearth of games on these next gen consoles, what's wrong with more?
@speedfreak48t5p: Go back to playing pong.
Pong's an amazing game. I would be delighted.
Graphics whores, Graphics whores everywhere.
Well Graphics sells. Just look at PS4.

and DS2 graphics looks like something straight from ps2 so asking for better is nothing demanding for a dev porting the game to a system that came two gens after the ps2 era.
as far as souls games go it was poor, going up against bloodborne just seems counter productive.
This is getting ridiculous: we don't really that much of an idea how good Bloodborne is actually going to be. For all you know, it could disappoint.

It's Miyazaki and his A team.
Yeah, not happening. Especially compared to how lame Dark Souls 2 was, just by default it'll be better.

You could say that about any upcoming game ever. The track record for these guys is better than most, and I'm going to assume you aren't in every hype thread on SW calling everyone ridiculous. So what's your problem with this one?
On topic: If it's true that's a bonus for me, as I haven't grabbed DS2 yet.

I didn't actually call anybody ridiculous in this thread. What's ridiculous is acting it's already set in stone that something is good before we've seen much of it. I mean, it's one thing to predict that the game will be awesome, it's another to speak of it as we already know how good it is. We don't, especially since there's so little to go by in this case. All we have is a bit of footage, limited impressions from others, and developer's track record. To speak to that last point: even the best devs can make mistakes, mistakes that we often don't know about until the game is released or close to release.
Also, I'm not in every hype thread expressing these sentiments, but this is not close to the first time I've commented on this kind of thing.

i think that's fair enough. bloodborne's getting a lot of praise however it is still just an unreleased game.

Yeah, like I alluded to in the edited version of that post, certain things you just really can't know until the game's release. Actually playing through the game is the only way to really experience how levels flow, how the game is paced, how the combat actually feels, how it all comes together as a finished product.
Also: people forget that this is a new IP. While it might be spiritual sequel, it also may be doing its own thing in some ways, making things a little less certain.

I haven't actually played Dark Souls 2 (Demon's Souls is the only Souls game I've played). That being said, I think Bloodborne will probably be better (the art design alone is more compelling). But because we have such limited info, I really can't be in any way certain of that. It's perfectly possible that Bloodborne could suffer from some severe issue that will only be apparent upon release. For instance, a problem with pacing. That's what happened with Killzone: Shadowfall. It looked really awesome from footage, which is one reason it got hyped so much (aside from the hype it got from being a PS4 exclusive), but it was only upon release that people could experience how horrible the pacing was, and that those pacing issues pretty much destroyed the campaign.
That's not to say that Guerilla Games is in any way comparable to From Software in terms of quality (they are obviously not), but the same "we don't truly know until we've played it" principle applies.

I also find it interesting how in a previous post you mentioned levels flowing, you should know Darksouls 2 is absolute shit at creating a cohesive environment, in fact level design is one of the major disappointments of Darksouls 2 especially compared to Darksouls, hell even Demonsouls smokes it in that regard with just the tower of latria area alone.
Did I mention Miyazaki is designing the entirety of bloodborne around that same type of thick atmosphere that was prevalent there? That's another major plus.
The removal of shields is also a positive decision I feel, It's way too fucking easy to turtle in darksouls 2.
I personally see no reason especially given the amazing pedigree this game will have to not be excited for a great game coming.

I feel like you're really misunderstanding what I'm saying.
I'm not saying it's bad to predict that this game will be amazing. There's enough justification for that. I mean, I don't think it actually looks like it takes advantage of the PS4 enough to justify all the "this game wins the generation" comments, but the idea that it will be an amazing game in of itself is justified. What I'm arguing against is the notion of acting like it's ALREADY so amazing. That's silly because it has to release for us to properly assess its quality.
So thinking it will be amazing=justified. Acting like it is certain/=/justified.
Also, I'm not arguing that Dark Souls 2 is going to be better, so I really don't get the point of that first paragraph. Furthermore, it's POSSIBLE that the levels in Bloodborne might not flow well either. Likely? Maybe not, but certainly well within the realm of possibility.

I should play Dark Souls 2 but I know it won't suddenly make me privy to how good Bloodborne's pacing and level design actually is.
And your first sentence is absolutely correct. It's not about DS2 at all: people acting like games are already good before they release is a personal pet peeve of mine.
Should I maybe have just ignored the comment? Probably. But this SW, so whatever...

Well, of course not. If they do re-release game, better graphics are a must.
I'm not even against graphic whoring per se (tho some can take it too far). I think awesome graphics are part of the fun of this medium. I was simply saying that Dark Souls 2 doesn't look like a PS2 game. No more, no less.
I think none of this has to do with darksouls 2 personally, it's just you trying to bust my balls over what I said.
But I do have to say, You should play darksouls 2 first.
On the contrary, From tends to listen to criticism levied towards them, the reason we can expect a much higher degree of level design is because they have actually said they are focusing on just that, journalists at e3 also mentioned how it was much more complex and multi layered during the 30 minute showing they saw. I think Miyazaki knows levels flowed ridiculously badly in Darksouls 2, it hasn't exactly been a minority complaint.
It's kind of sad you would try and pick apart my small mention of Darksouls 2 in regards to Bloodborne, and even worse you would attempt to put words in my mouth when all I said was simply that re releasing a subpar game compared to the rest of the titles in the series seems counter productive against the new mainstay, it's really just milking the title at this point those graphical options should have been available at the very least in the pc version.
If that hurts your feelings I'm afraid you're just going to have to deal with it.

Haha. You sound super defensive. And supposedly I'm the one with hurt feelings.
Also, what journalists say and what the developers are saying at this stage still doesn't tell us that much about what the final product will be like. Honestly, there's not much you can say right now to justify such certainty in these matters.
Dark Souls 2 isnt on next Gen?
I thought it was? It just came out like 2 months ago... I swore i thought it was on PS4/X1.

Yet you're the one that initially misconstrued what I said based on a pet peeve.
I'm just continuing this ridiculous conversation with you.
@Nengo_Flow: i think a few are staggering development, like that new codemasters game, uh, grid autosport.

I did response based on a pet peeve, but I didn't misconstrue anything.

Point out where in my initial post I said any of what you claim.
Point out where in my initial post I said any of what you claim.
You claimed that Dark Souls 2 was such a poor Souls game that it would be counterproductive to go against Bloodborne, implying that Bloodborne is a good Souls game in comparison. My point is that you don't know if it is or not. For all you know, it could have its own issues.

Assumptions?
I never actually used those words either, I simply made the notion that releasing for the 2nd time a multiplat game released across all systems with some fancier graphics seems counterproductive to the souls franchise as a whole.
Especially with their newest flagship right around the corner, it's a money grab. As others have pointed out.
Regardless it's late, and this conversation is frankly idiotic in the firstplace. I'll leave you with this.

Haha. If that's what you were trying to communicate with that initial post, you did a really bad job.
Not really surprised
I am, this is From we're talking about. Considering how hard of a time they have with PC porting and even getting games to run smoothly on PS3/360, I'm surprised they out of all companies went for this (if so).
Only on the first Dark Souls. Dark Souls 2 has a magnificent PC port. As for the re-release: great for next gen owners! This will pretty much be the sole game on the next-gen systems that you can actually invest a considerable amount of time into, and frankly, 60fps Dark Souls is just so, so, soooo much better. Would have liked to have seen it for only $40 though. They know the console crowd is desperate for anything.
@Blabadon:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I just bought the game on Saturday!!! What the hell..... Why not actually make a dark souls 3 instead of doing this. I would of waited for it, but I won't rebuy it for current gen, no way. Will buy Bloodbourne day 1 though!
Hey Guys guess What ! PLAYED DARK SOULS :)..... For 30 Minutes. Didn't even make it out of that area where that 1st giant ugly looking weapon wielding reptile was.
are you gonna try again?
are you talking about the demon straight after that early bonfire? don't try kill him. look for an exit.
Why not just buy the PC version, it's so well-optimized that I think a laptop could run it at 60 FPS
EDIT: Also, I'm sure this isn't real, because of this interview during E3.
Because Playing console ports on PC sucks...imo. I don't like playing controller based games on PC. PC gaming is different than console gaming. You are up close to the screen and without mouse and keyboard controls it's just not the same. I don't like sitting next to my monitor with a gamepad (the fact that dual shock drivers need to be configured by each game sucks too, as I hate the 360 controller i have for pc) Does Dark souls even have keyboard / mouse controlls? If so it probably sucks. I remember playing the witcher 2 when it released with it's dark souls like combat mechanics and hated it, and this is from someone who bought 2 copies of the witcher 1 to get the Europe uncut version as I loved the first game so much. The controls is what ruined it. Felt more console like and less like a keyboard - mouse game.
Lately I only buy pc centric games on PC... titles like civilization, Europa Universalis 4, prison archetiecht, Banished, Gnomoria, Mount and Blade, Company of heroes, divinity etc.... Those games are all PC centric and aren't meant for console or gamepads. The only gamepad games I get on pc are indies like UnEpic and Rogue Legacy (the latter is coming to vita next week and can't wait!!!)
Maybe If I could hook my pc up to my 60' tv... but I am not having a 50' HDMI cord across my den in the basement...it would be too much and probably cost a fortune.
@CrownKingArthur
It wasn't mine... Thats why I only spent 30 minutes on it, I was playing it at a friends and we got bored and just decided to Play Amnesia instead.... 30 minutes later we changed our shorts and vowed never to speak of how bitchmade we are and were too afraid to even think about that game.
