I agree it's all worthless trash.
One thing you should know about the soul games is that it is all a big piece of garbage. Now before you say *lol u suk the gam0rzz* I love hard and challenging games like NG1/2 DMC3 and have completed most of them. But the souls games are just not my cup of tea, the soul games requires a massive amount of time to spend on grinding I like hard games that I can complete on the get go like NG DMC.
I'm not a fan of spending 60 hours just to complete one level especially when the graphics are subpar and the storyline non existant. I don't have time for this nonsense.

I respect your opinion but the idea that the game requires grinding is simply untrue.
[QUOTE="mems_1224"][QUOTE="VendettaRed07"]Its not about being thinking and it is cheap sometimes. Its about grinding and memorizing the layouts, enemy types and enemy spawns. spoken like a true newb You wouldn't have to memorize everything if you took your time to first observe whats around you, and take your time, and plan out your movements. The only time the game is even sort of cheap is boss fights, because you essentially get 1 chance to understand their attacks or get killed and you get to run through a level again. Also, the game is designed to be punishing to morons that just run through. It's rated so highly because it actually makes you put some effort into what your doing, you have to stop and think. You can play the smart way which is an incredibly rewarding experience or the hard way where you memorize maps and enemy spawns. Spoken like a true basement dweller. Its not hard its challenging. Its not cheap, but it punishes you for mistakes. It forces you to think. Seeing as how it seems you aren't very good at doing that I can understand why this game isn't for you.

you have Lightning on your sig and avatar! I don't like the the Souls games either but I rather play that than another sequel to one of the worst games of the generation, FF13.

I respect you respecting my opinion but the same can be said about every game, just because someone can complete the game without grinding doesn't mean everyone can. And by that I mean 98% of the players. NG/DMC on the other hand allows me to tackle the game from the get go, Just give me a sword and it's all skill and tactics from there on.[QUOTE="VendettaRed07"]
[QUOTE="mems_1224"] Its not about being thinking and it is cheap sometimes. Its about grinding and memorizing the layouts, enemy types and enemy spawns. Minishdriveby
How are any of those not qualified as thinking? Knowing enemies you encounter, their tendencies and how to deal with them on certain terrains. You can't walk in and mash attack buttons willy nilly and expect to win, and not have any punishments for making mistakes or doing something stupid. And Its not JUST about memorzing patterns and repeating or whatever its not contra.
And I think there were about 3 or 4 times where I felt I had a cheap death. But that doesn't make the game inherently cheap or anything
Yeah you can only mash attack buttons to win on your second playthrough/halfway through your first playthrough. You don't even need a shield  F*ck blocking tank dat B*tch.Bosses that don't require any strategy other than run up real close and mash attack buttons:
Queelag
Iron Golem
Seath
Gwyn
Gravelord Nito
Four Kings
Pinwheel
Moonlight Butterfly
Centipede demon
Bed of Chaos
If Dark Souls is a mindless no strategy attack masher I don't even know what I would call even 90% the big budget releases today.

[QUOTE="blackace"]"The enemies are vastly overpowered, shield blocking will work for a few seconds till your stamina bar drops only to be gangbanged by your AI opponent. That's exactly what you have to do. Stay in the safe easy area and grind continuously until you level up enough to move further into the game. archvile_78
So, how bout a factual reason why the game is "overrated crap"
the "grinding" claim is sorta getting old, especially if you actually PLAYED the game.
I thought Uncharted 2 was a better game overall. Demon's Souls was a good game, but no where near GoTY worthy to me. Not just because of the difficulty, lack of save spots and a lack of a pause button. Graphically it was below Uncharted 2's standard and the story wasn't anything to write home about. I never said the game was crap. I actually said the opposite. I do think it was overrated however.[QUOTE="ReadingRainbow4"][QUOTE="blackace"]"The enemies are vastly overpowered, shield blocking will work for a few seconds till your stamina bar drops only to be gangbanged by your AI opponent. It's very easy to pass through undead burg and take out the gargoyles, hell you can even summon sunbro to help so you don't break a nail.
watch enemy movement, take encounters gradually, and don't get surrounded.
I think the main issue with this thread is some just can't realize when it's a good idea to walk away and realize maybe the game just isn't for you.
That doesn't mean it's a terrible game by any stretch of the imagination.
Again, I never said it was a terrible game. I've played it and I enjoy it. I said it was overrated.Your insistence on the best way to progress being through grinding makes me think you never even played it.

I don't know. I remember back in 09 when DS won game of the year someone posted about how it took him 12 hours to get past the first level. Well that's just silly. It took me about 35 hours to beat the game within a week (I was also going to places that weren't part of the main quest). I can now beat it in about 10 if I'm taking short cuts and I'm currently watching a 35 minute speed run.[QUOTE="GhoX"]A grind-heavy game is one where even a very skilled player has to spend countless hours farming either for items or exp. They for you to think. Seeing as how it seems you aren't very good at doing that, I can understand why neither title are for you. that entire statement (excluding that it isn't for you because of the challenge - I don't actually believe that ridiculous claim) holds true for both games.[QUOTE="Some-Mist"][QUOTE="pelvist"]

im sorry the controls are clunky, the graphics stink, the environment is ugly, the game is not enjoyable.
I really started to appreciate Dark Souls once I got a hang of the controls, and then, once I got the hang of it, it became very quickly tedious. Repeating the same motions over and over to defeat the average AI'd enemies.
Then you decide to finally use your humanity and someone invades your game. You can't disable this and when they get in, you can't do anything about it except wait to die. You'll get backstabbed constantly because of the poor combat and there's nothing you can do about it. I understand having brutal challenges in the game, but bullshit like that? Yeah, that's when I realised I was done with it.
It seems to me that people worship this game because it's "difficult" (it's simply a matter of figuring out the predictable enemy movements) and "hardcore".
It's "in" to be elitest over a popular game. It's also kind of pathetic.
DO U EVEN GAME?Terrible graphics, clunky controls, bad art design, always feels like everything looks the same.
