Yeah, ur right. Well, only solution now is to wait for more impressions + GS's review. They can't, they're busy playing Darksiders.
Or they're at work.

Thanks for the input. I'm really interested to see how player reactions compare to the reviews.I am only about an hour in but so far it has a good start. Good opening story and the characters see to have some depth. There is screen tearing in the game from the get go so if this bothers you I would stay away from this game. I don't have a problem with it. I am playing on the hardest difficulty which seems to be where everyone that has experience with adventure type games should play. So if you have played games like this before that is where you should start. The first hour worth of combat is repetitive but I just got the harvester so things should pick up in the combat department. I never played a 3d Zelda so I can't comment on how this game compares. Darksiders does remind me of GOW but it is nowhere near the same game as I think Dante's Inferno is.
I will post more later in the day.

This game deserves 8.5, at least. I hope Gamespot understands this and gives it the score it should have :P
GamesRadar review is in, 8/10 both versions. Nice to see some more positivity.
In spite of lifting nearly every gameplay element from other, often better games, Darksiders still succeeds at bringing these disparate threads together into a brutally satisfying whole. It's also a blast to explore even at its low points, and if the idea of a Zelda with a more "mature" bent and better combat catches your interest, you'll want to check this out.
At this point it really depends on how much the reviewer cares about its originality. It's obviously a quality game, and in a vacuum it would be AAAA GOTY.This game deserves 8.5, at least. I hope Gamespot understands this and gives it the score it should have :P

lol at IGN. IGN UK and AU gave it 8.9 and 9.0 respectively. Then IGN US comes in and gives it a 7.8 saying the environments seem too barren after IGN UK praised the level of polish and detail. Anyone else feel like they actually took points off because of the Zelda and GoW similarities?Ocassional screen tearing really shouldn't have lead to a 7.8
Whatever, I'm gonna go pick up Darksiders and Bayonetta now.

Isn't it weird that Kotaku, IGN, GamePro, GamesRadar all mention that Darksiders takes alot of things from other games and marks the overall score down because of that, while other games that does the same gets away with it. It's like Darksiders is the scapegoat because there have been too many games in the last months getting good scores, since I can't recall when a game got so heavly critizised for taking what works from other games.

Well, the game does seem to wear its influences on its sleeve, as reviewers would say. You can't look at it and not think of Zelda and GOW. That said, I don't really believe in counting that as a negative. "Copying" is done by the best of them, and it's fine as long as you don't just bite other people's ideas and work all the way.Well it seems that other than difficulty it's only downfall is that it's inspired by Zelda and GoW. I don't care about a game taking good things from other games so I'll buy this some time this week.
One thing that the ign review werids me out is the whole "it feels barren and empty" well the world just ended dude. There is no mankind anymore.

Especially when bayonetta is so close to DMC...

Yea if a game is good it shouldint get heavily criticised if it borrows from other games. What matters is the overall package.
Very early on but the game looks, & thus far plays really well and my initial impressions are, I want to keep playing, everything on screen pops nicely and if I didn't know better, I'd think this was SEGA dev'ed... the old Sega and their take on making a action adventure using game mechanics not unlike a Zelda adventure. Visuals are superb so far and all seems smooth & intuitive.
Looong way to go but as of now, seems worth the hype I had for the game and I feel very confident the completion of the game will feel very satisfying.
Back to the Darkside for now - good stuff. :D
On the graphics side Darksiders is a great change of pace compared to the usual over done dark environments we have been use to seeing this generation. I am happy to see a colorful world that has more than black, brown, and grey as their primary colors. The environments so far are very unique for this generation and really help mood for the world. The graphics are very clean and have a very comic book type feel to them. I would love to see an animated series staring War (Who is a great protagonist so far).

Sounding great. Thanks.
To think I made a hype thread and everything, and yet I can't get the game for a week. :x It's agony.
Well, I need sleep, so I'm going to abandon the thread for now and leave you with this:
Vigil says no Darksiders DLC, multiplayer nixed "early on"
"We were a new team building new tech and a new IP. We had our work cut out for us," Madureira explained when asked about both, adding, "Vigil has a very strong all-or-nothing mentality, and if we're not confident we can pull it off, we're not doing it. So we focused on making the most kick-ass single-player game possible." Not to say that multiplayer was never a possibility -- it was just a short-lived one: "We realized early on that we wouldn't be able to pull off the scope of game we wanted to and have it be multiplayer," he said.Joystiq
They sound like sensible folks over there. Hopefully THQ knows better than to meddle in their business from here on out.
Does anyone know where the Gamespot review is????

Who knows. Someone ask Kevin Van Ord if he comes in here.

That because the creators of DMC made Bayonetta. But anyway many games these days were influence by earlier games, so yeah I don't think a game should be dock points because of that, unless it more on the rip-off side.
Darksiders looks pretty impressive. I remember reading a article about it a while ago. Maybe I should give it a try.
personally im hoping for a AAA score but i think AA is more likely. and ign criminally underrated it but we'll see i think the game will speak for itself. this game still looks solid and i dont mind the fact that it copies other games so much although that does bother me a little. i like games to have some originality. only time will tell.
I'm really interested in this game and was planning on buying it but changed my mind due to one simple fact...this game will flop in sales hard and be at a low price soon enough. I'll just save my money for ME2 for now. I still predict 8.0 on GS, but won't be too surprised if it scores 7.5.

don't be so sure of that. there were over 100k pre-orders if I recall right.
100k...wait, that's nothing nowadays :P
To my knowledge, most reviews point to the PS3 version being superior. So do we have any idea which version is superior yet? Really wish they put out a demo to get a feel for this game. I really shouldnt buy it but it looks sweet.
h575309
Thats the version I picked up and I can't see any real technical issues yet, so I'd assume there's nothing significantly better in the 360 version or that its possibly worse in some way.
Personally, I thought it was about IGN's score. That's pretty fair considering that it doesn't everything God of War and Zelda does, but simpler. What I disagree with is the praise on the art style though. I don't find much merit in it, especially when the game also takes place in modern cities. The contrast just doesn't quite work.
I can't say I was ever looking forward to this, but I'm sure plenty of people will enjoy it though.
I'm not seeing very much into this game. Really, what so Zelda about it. I even read info on it, and all those don't make it a Zelda game.nintendoboy16I'm currently playing it. It's zelda in that you explore worlds, searching for treasure chests, to achieve weapons, upgrades, items, and money. Onyl its a bit more in depth, as you can level up your weapons, character, and upgrade armour. It has 'bosses' which are like dungeon bosses in zelda. It's very much like a grown up zelda game.

"Simpler"? Actually, no...
This has more depth and is more satisfying. I'll take the high 80 Metacritic average, kthx.
7.8 IGN. Flop confirmed.
Eggimannd
who is that chick on your sig? i've seen her used as a sig a lot lately.
Agreed. I think he is just grasping for straws to justify the 7.8 but anyways, picking up this and Bayonneta, will give in my impressions about both. :)One thing that the ign review werids me out is the whole "it feels barren and empty" well the world just ended dude. I am very impressed with this game so far. The tech tree is fantastic and is very similar to what you get from a Devil May Cry game. You cash in the souls of your enemys to get weapons upgrades and new moves. It is very much an adventure game as you can travel through out the landscape of the game as you see fit. Definate must buy.
