Ok let me break it to you, Diablo is an over the top ARPG, Dark Souls is not, not the same genre and not even close in therm of gameplay, visuals, art style, world, etc.... nothing, none.... don't see a point in comparing these 2 games.
Ok let me break it to you,
I'm right, I just won.
Which is great, good feeling.
If it makes you sleep better at night, then great but stop making topics which makes no sense.

But Wikipedia says I'm right.
Don't imply you're smarter than wikipedia, that's just arrogance.

Do you mean top down? Isometric? What does that have to do with...
what the hell?

Im done arguing with a brain dead such as yourself, If you can't distinguish the difference between those games and have to hide behind Wikipedia which btw all the info is written and added by public community, then I have no time to argue with you. maybe if you have even played the games or watch some gameplay videos you would understand but maybe you did and with your IQ level still can't distinguish the difference. who knows.
Running away won't stop me being right.
Kind of wildly different games, and impossible to compare, but okay. I prefer isometric ARPGs, in general, but if we're talking about the latest iterations of these particular franchises, I'll take Dark Souls over Diablo 3. But I'll take Diablo 1 or 2, or Path of Exile, over both.
Also, as a side note, I've been thinking since Diablo 2 came out that it would be really cool to see a Diablo game with a typical third person view, and the kind of more in depth and skill/timing based combat system that would come with such a game. When I first played Dark Souls, I thought that was about as close as I'd ever seen to that, and was part of the reason I love Dark Souls so much. Basically Dark Souls, but with a traditional skill tree, and randomized loot, in higher volume, like an iso-ARPG, would be exactly what I've had in mind for a decade and a half. Well, it would also have to be a remake of Diablo 1, story and setting-wise, to be exactly what I have in mind.

Chill out, and cut back on the personal attacks. I know it's rampant here, but it's not called for. Dark Souls is an action RPG. The fact that it isn't isometric is true, but it's an action RPG. It's not batshit crazy to ask people which brand of action RPG they prefer. Hell, the isometric vs traditional 3rd person view thing might even factor into that preference, as opposed to being a "NO YOU CAN'T COMPARE THEM!" point
2 Very different games in my eyes. The core gameplay is stronger in Dark Souls, but what attracts me far more to Diablo is all the skill synergies and different builds you can experiment with. Also love the top down view of Diablo. As much as I enjoy Dark Souls, I dont really like most of the platforming in the game.
Ultimately, I prefer Diablo, there is almost nothing I dislike about Diablo.
Dark Souls is better than Diablo.
But Dark Souls isnt the best ARPG around. Mount and Blade is better, as is Dark Messiah.
Diablo was only ever really worth playing back when it still took inspiration from roguelikes such as Nethack. The further away they moved from the source material. The more uninspired the games got. In Diablo 1 the itemization worked really well, and actually added to the core experience. In Diablo 2 it still worked fairly well after the LoD expansion hit, but due to the ability to grind forever the slight tactical element D1 had with its itemization was gone. And in Diablo 3... they took only the skinner box element out of the loot Pinata D2 had and forgot what made the system addicting in the first place.
Diablo.. Even after the intial massive flop of Diablo 3 release, they actually fixed it.. Dark Souls 3 is a broken train wreck of crap where half the game mechanics are either broken or half baked.. What makes this even funnier is how the Dark Souls community acts how "deep" the pvp is in the series to begin with..

Dude, uninspiredcup is a troll, who pretty much begs for the personal attacks, by being completely impossible to have a real discussion with, and being deliberately annoying with his "nope. i'm right because I said so, and you're wrong because I said so. nope. nope. nope" style of "debate".
This particular thread isn't the most egregious example of this, but he has a reputation for a reason.
While the two are in fact hack and slash, Diablo series is a top down view, random loot game, that hardly has anything to do mechanics wise, compared to a fully 3d, one vs many fighting style that Dark Souls has going on.
Anyways I think that Dark Souls is better than time sink gameplay.
Haven't played too much from Diablo, but from what I know of it, it's an entirely different beast than Souls. Souls is honestly part survival horror in that you need to carefully choose your stats and how you play and death is knocking on your door at any given second. Diablo seems to be a loot fest. Nothing wrong with that, just saying that the two seem to be way too different to compare under the category of ARPG, but if I had to pick one I'd say Souls since it's the one I've played between the two.
Me, as a Souls fan, i feel insulted when my series is being compared to this garbage known as Diablo. Even DS2 is better than Diablo, Diablo 2 and 3.
Diablo is heaps better. Dark Souls is for people who have nothing else better to do with their time apart from replay the same level 10 times in a row. I don't have enough free time on my hands to replay the same level over and over due to stupidly high difficulty settings that are designed to make virgins feel proud of their "accomplishments".
I beat Demon's Souls back in 2010 - it was a good game and I enjoyed it, but I deeply regret the large amounts of time I spend on it. I could have used that time to play other games instead.

Umm, seriously?
You replay the same damn levels over and over again in Diablo. It's an incredibly short game, and it's a loot fest, so replaying levels is how you get more loot.
Also, it's not Dark Souls' fault you suck at it.
