Even though those situations arent the norm atm you dont know what the future will bring when pubs will have the monopoly of the market with DD only. Retailers are the only one that can make them balance the game prices. People talk about retail as if its more expensive then DD but I honestly dont see it. Besides these time specific sales, steam usually is as expensive as a retailer. Retailers also have some great sales. Recently I just bought Fallout 3 Goty for only 5 euros for ex...

call me old-fashioned, "peasent", w/e but retail is the only viable option for me atm

The market won´t be DD only for a very long,long time(if at all),but DD will eventually be the primary way to do business in the industry,DD usually has better sales and way more often,especially a short time after the release of the games.

And yeah,you can also get console games for cheap if you look well enough,though in the case of Fallout 3 you must´ve found a pretty good deal because I was yesterday at the Colombo´s FNAC and GAME and the GOTY edition was still 19,99?(or maybe it was NV,not sure). :P

And I still buy most of my PC games retail these days,I just find DD way more comvenient and considering my lifestyle I rarely have the chance to spend time on game stores these days.

Edit: Actually I just looked on the FNAC site and the PS3 F3 GOTY edition is 30?,NV is 20? lol.

I found F3 GOTY on my local GAME store in Viseu. It was at 2nd hand but works perfectly and isnt scratched or anything

I never had a problem with 2nd hand games. But, for ex, fnac is selling DS2 collectors edition (that includes DS Extraction) for only 15 euros

I had some issues with used games before,some didn´t had manual(not that I care because I´m not really a collector that needs everything mint)or even discs not working(mostly from PS2 stuff that I bought on a Cashland last year,so,a few exceptions aside,I usually tend to avoid used games.

That DS2 CE is a pretty sweet deal though.

When I get paid tonight, I'll definitely be buying Shogun 2, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, and possibly one of the collections.

The rest really just depends on what is on a flash deal at the time.

I played and so far it´s my favourite RPG of the year,but that´s mostly because I loved games like Ultima Underworld and Eye of the Beholder,and LoG is basically a modern version of that style of game,it all depends if you guys like that kinda of game.

Personally,I love it and would recommand it to anyone,and it was very well recieved from the critics and the community as well.

I used to feel the same way but that was in a time where retail copies were really worth getting as far as I´m concerned,the old huge cardboard PC boxes with a ton of stuff or even regular editions of some games that had pretty sweet stuff like Ultima VII with a huge coloured manual,medallion and a cloth map),and the same goes to quite a few console games,but these days,the manulas are 5 or 6 page deals in black and white most of the time and nothing else of interest comes in the box,so I don´t really care if I get retail or DD on most of them.

There are exceptions,like with the regular version of The Witcher 2 wich was basically a collector´s edition,Diablo 3 ith the detachable box wich is fairly rare these days and very few others. And of course collector´s editions in general,wich honestly,to me is for the most part the time when actually getting a retail release is worth it.

FYI, not a big deal but still. For anyone looking to dowload Deus EX Human Revolution it's 50 cents cheaper on Amazon at $6.99. Not big difference but a few pennies saved doesn't hurt in the long run.
