One of my favorite games this gen no doubt about it. I'm very pleased that EA gave Visceral absolute creative control in order to make the original. Now the same team is in the final stages of pre-production for the sequel!

"The game is in the later stages of pre-production, ready for production in the next few months, with many of the navigational and combat mechanics in place... We have complete autonomy and creative control over our own decisions."

I loved Dead Space, but I can't imagine the sequel (or god forbid, a prequel) being particularly compelling.

Dead Space was amazing, I'm wondering they can pull off a sequel with such a gripping gameplay experience and story.

It does seem like one of those c|assics that should stay as it is. I'm eager to see what they do though :D!

A sequel is unnecessary. While the original was a great game its story wasn't anything outstanding.

Like I posted on the article page, I hope they don't do the whole sci fi thing like "Omg, guess what guyz! It followed him home! OH NOZE!" That would ruin it for me.

What's with all the "no need for a sequel" talk? Dead Space has a very interesting story between the religious group(can't remember what it's called) and the anti religious group plus throw a sheetload of zombies in between and you have a great game

Indeed. It's like the BioShock complaining all over again, but they actually kinda had a point with that game.

EA has been doing such an amazing job this generation. They really learned from last gen and are now publishing so many quality titles.

Depends on where they take this game's story really, it could be even more cliched then the first. I did enjoy it a lot and will probably play through it again soon!

The only reason a prequel wouldn't be that great is due to the fact everyone died on the planet. I'm also wondering how the sequel will work out? What are their more markers flung out in space?

You should rephrase that just a bit. Its more along the lines of while they continue to milk certain franchise. The have also realized that to not be come stagnant you need to introduce exciting new IP's. :D

I agree, the first one left alot of things to be answered. The religious group (I can't remember the name either) had a lot mystery behind it. I also think they could do a sequel that is along the lines of Aliens seeing as the first one was a bit similar to the first Alien in some aspects.

Yes, I loved the first, one of my top 10 this gen, and I really want to see more of the universe expanded and maybe detail some of what happened with issac and perhaps before hand with the original marker.

can't wait to see what they do with this freedom.

I hope they focus on the atmosphere more. Dead Space was kind lacking in atmosphere which didn't make it seem all that scary. And I hope they make the the chapter translations more compelling. Using the tram for transferring chapters was very unoriginal. It also made the game feel less of an adventure.

So it's a sequel? Who will you play as (a military officer, or the same guy perhaps)? Will it take place on another ship that has also been attacked by a similar case (although the original's final boss would likely say no)?

There's a lot of questions that need to be answered about the sequel before it's released...
