I played the RE5 demo a few times. It's like a slow boring non fluid version of dead space. Dead Space destroys it atleast from the demo.lordsettra12I completely agree. Dead Space was one of my favorite games from last year.

Dead Space reminded me of Cold Fear. Thats never a good thing...dr-venkman
While not the best game ever I did have a blast with Cold Fear.
Except for the camera at times. (Xbox version)
Resident Evil 5 isn't going for "scary atmosphere".
It's a balls-out action game, and I'd bet my prize noffling fork that it will be better at being an action game than Dead Space was at being a horror game.
exactly re 5 is not even horror..dead space.. its sci fi tooResident Evil 5 isn't going for "scary atmosphere".

[QUOTE="dr-venkman"]Dead Space reminded me of Cold Fear. A little difficult to tell, considering that the final version of RE5 is not even out >_>
Now, considering that I liked RE4 more than Dead Space (and I simply ADORE Dead Space), RE5 would have my voute here.
But I want to finish the game before saying anything.

I'll take that bet. If Capcom doesn't fix the pacing of RE5 it's going to suck as an action game. You're outside in africa and yet you can only move as if you have lead shoes on. I feel as if it's max payne slow motion the entire time.[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]I'm probably gonna like RE5 better then, considering how much of a failure Dead Space was in atmosphere and horror.ExplosiveChorro
failure in atmosphere??? considering the HUD is on the suit the main character wears it's pretty damn immersive with atmoshere.
Horror? I don't play a lot of horror games so i guess its all opinion but it was way scary for me, i had to turn it off a couple of times.
Yes, failure in atmosphere. Everything in the game was extremely superficial, and most of the things they were using to create ambience didn't have any actual vehicles in the game itself. Not to mention the 'fear' emmitters made those jump momments practically 100% readable. The game failed at atmosphere. And its action is rudimentary.

Do you have any specific points to back up that statement?
Based on what I've played, the core gameplay is perfectly functional and very satisfying, and the new co-op mechanics are well implemented. There aren't very many games like RE5 on the market right now; its particular type of action remains nearly exclusive to itself and its predecessor.
RE5's core mechanics certainly aren't standard, but they aren't outdated either. It was a mere 4 years ago that Resident Evil 4 came out with a gameplay flavor that I had never tasted before. RE5 sticking to that same base flavor certainly doesn't make it "rudimentary", especially when it's impossible to name another title that offers the same kind of core experience.

The atmosphere was intense, but the level design seemed repetative. Sure there were a few good moments, but it does not compare to RE4's environments.I'm probably gonna like RE5 better then, considering how much of a failure Dead Space was in atmosphere and horror.Vandalvideo
