Which series (RE starting at 4 since its the only ones that are comparable to DS) do you think excels and does things the best? I'm (finally) playing DS1 and its pretty dang good (even if thus far its corridor shooting and not even remotely intimidating). What do you guys think, which series has more potential moving forward?

Having played only Dead Space, and RE 4 I go DS. RE just doesn't do it for me after the first two. I enjoyed four, but DS was just a lot more gripping for me.

I can't really judge. I would say Resident Evilthough I haven't played DS2 yet and I never completed the first Dead Space.

Depends. If you want horror, go with DS. But DS isn't a scary horror. I'd go with RE for fun.

Thus far I think RE4 is better then DS. RE4 had an amazing start, Deadspace's honestly wasn't that hot. But the gameplay in Deadspace is on par with RE4 atleast from the beginning. RE4 drags a bit, I wonder if DS will. I'll find out soon enough.

From what I played of Dead Space 1 on PS3 I can say I'm not impressed. I know the combat was supposed to be something unique to feel more like you really have to "survive" but it was more fustrating and annoying than anything. To top it off it wasn't even scary. At least RE4 back in the day had some jump moments. I think RE is the better series overall. I love RE5 and never understood the hate for it but could agree on it was crap that they made it more action-ish and took out all horror elements.

Dead Space needs better combat (Haven't played 2 yet. Blockbuster is always out of stock on new games :x ) and figure out how to add "horror" to the "survival horror" game. Resident Evil just needs to fix its story/atmosphere. If Capcom picked up the guys from Frictional I bet they could pull off some really scary **** with great combat mechanics, even if that means starting a new chapter/story for Resident Evil. RE4 was the best RE game made and the only way to top it is to make something really scary. Put that same fear into us like they did with our very first zombie in RE1 or when those damn dogs jumped through the windows in RE1.

RE4 was a much better game than Dead Space. Better pacing, better bosses, more satisfying shooting, better level design, it's just BETTER. WAY BETTER. Dead Space took Doom 3's level design and RE4's gameplay and made it worse.

RE4 is one of the best games made to this date and certainly better than most games released this gen imo. Just think of this, no other game feels as satisfying when you pull the trigger as RE4, not even RE5. This is a combination of perfect animation and convincing physics system that allowed the game to be very fluid and satisfying.

Thus far I am genuinely liking it though environment wise, I am already seeing repitition. I still feel like the gameplay is really good as well, it just needs more open areas (kind of like the big room in the DS2 demo) since corridors make the shooting so easy especially since you can walk and shoot. We'll see though :)

RE4 just had some awesome moments, Salazar, Krauser, Kinfe fight, laser part, village as a whole, the truck part. The game was friggin sick, (and once again better when it avoided corridors) one of my personal favs for sure. Never played RE2 though.

I really like RE4, but when I played Dead Space I found it to be a better overall experience. The controls on Dead Space are much better than RE4. Trying to see the little red laser from your gun in RE4 and even 5 can be frustrating, especially at distances, so what does Dead Space do? Makes the lasers neon blue and adds three of them, problem solved. I'm also one of those people who doesn't think the challenge of a game should come from things like not being able to find your way around, so the hand laser guide is something that I thought was cool. I'll give RE4 one thing over Dead Space, and that's the bosses.

RE4 on PC had a ton of ways to change the laser thanks to mods. Looking through all the new/old mods for RE4 now and wow, PC definitely got the best version with mods. And I agree, I hated DS controls.

I love old-schoot Resident Evil games, like RE1, RE2, Remake and Zero. On the other hand with RE4 and RE5 the series went a different way that I don't like. Right now I prefer DS.

Dead Space owns Resi 5, Resi is obviously the bigger franchise, Dead Space has the brightest future unless major changes happen at Capcom.

As a franchise moving forward in the future of gaming, I would like to believe Resident Evil has a better future. It has already established itself as a worthy franchise capable of adapting itself into many different gameplay and story styles over the years. Deadspace on the other hand is a relatively new franchise (and yes, I do believe it will be a franchise for EA) but I'm unsure how they will be able to continue the story in a way that continuously grips the gamer sequel after sequel.

Wii was definitely the best console version. The controls with a Wiimote feel just right with that game. RE4 looks surprisingly good despite being a PS2 port on PC. Modders did one hell of a job. Plus all the extra content and fixes the PC one has is amazing. Its too bad I haven't found it cheap anywhere cause I totally want this.

[QUOTE="ActicEdge" it just needs more open areas (kind of like the big room in the DS2 demo) since corridors make the shooting so easy especially since you can walk and shoot. We'll see though :)

Open areas are terrible in DS2 considering how fast some necromorphs can move compared to your slugish turning speed, you almost need coridors and choke points to survive in the harder difficulties "on zealot for my first playthrough and I often find myself running to the nearest hallway to survive the onslaught of monsters that 2 shot me.

Same. RE4 was fun, but DS beat it hands down. In fact, DS beat out RE5 hands down, and DS2 is more fun than the original. I love that its still very similar, but more of the fun that we enjoy, rather than making it this whole new iteration of dead space that feels alien to gamers.

RE4 at the time was amazing, over the shoulder was a great mechanism but far from perfect. Dead Space copied it and made it better while RE5 for some dumb reasons didn't evolve at all from RE4. Had the same clunky movement and a dumb companion AI.

I think RE now have a identity crisis. It's not survival horror anymore, tries to be a third person shooter but with irritating gameplay mechanism.

They both fail at horror games, but i guess it would go like this RE4>DS1>RE5, i haven't played DS2, but if we count the first 3 RE games it would go like this RE2>RE3>RE1>RE4>DS1>RE5.

Reviewers are ignorant and too cowardish to stand up against powerful video gaming industry. They are all confined to conventional, limited thinking, and they can NEVER break free from it. I find it absolutely pathetic that Resident Evil 5 has only 2 negative reviews (and even that they aren't overly negative, just 6/10). It's not like I'm mad because they don't see it my way. I'm mad because the can see it only THE ONE way, and they don't even try differently.

Resident Evil 4 obliterates both Dead Space games with ease. The only thing Dead Space does better is controls since you can move and shoot and atmosphere(neither of which is an area RE 4 struggles in, it's just admittedly the lesser of the two while still being good). The enemy variety is in RE 4s favor(something dead space lacks), the level design is in RE4s favor, the pacing(something dead space struggles in), the boss fights(the ones in Dead Space are awful), the variety(it's not even an argument between which is more varied), the soundtrack(ok that's more preference), replayability, etc.

RE 4 is an excellent third person action game. RE 5, Dead Space, and Dead Space 2 are merely average/good third person action games. All 4 of em aren't exactly that good in the horror department for that element to even matter.

[QUOTE="ActicEdge"]

[QUOTE="Giancar"] I found Re4 a whole better experience too not Re2 awesomeness, but pretty closeiamshivy

RE4 just had some awesome moments, Salazar, Krauser, Kinfe fight, laser part, village as a whole, the truck part. The game was friggin sick, (and once again better when it avoided corridors) one of my personal favs for sure. Never played RE2 though.

oh dude, if u have a ps3 go buy re2.. yeah it looks like *** to todays standerds but its the best in the series.. F0 shO

Code Veronica says hi. Also I know this is not my wording, but from what I hear the Resident Evil Remake also says hi. Those are just of the RE games from a survival horror standpoint. Personally RE 4 spanked all of em as games
