That was the wrong information/mistake you posted to which I was referring, as she is just The Boss...and I didn't know what you meant.

You can't tell on the internet, as I've discussed the Big Boss and Boss differences about 100x times since 2004 both online and in RL, and almost every time they didn't know what they were talking about until I told them. For all I knew, you were in the same boat since I don't really know you and after your "Big Boss/Woman" post, I considered the possibility that you didn't complete the game (to find out The Big Boss reveal).

I'm really not a fan of the abstract. I'm much more interested in careful structure and craft producing meaning. I've always felt that the abstract is more focused on feeling than meaning or message.

That trailer really turned me away from this project.

Reedus is Kojima. The handcuffs represent his career with Konami. The baby is Silent Hills. The "dog tags" are the MGS games that Kojima considers canon, MGS1, 2, 3, 4, PW, and V. The five floating figures either represent MGSV, or the studios that tried to get Kojima on board after he left Konami. The dead whales would represent Moby Dick Studios (former Kojima productions).

I don't get the hype for Kojima games never have. They look graphically cool, but I dunno if it's that stuff is lost in translation or something but his games are just weird and the stories don't make much sense and/or the dialogue is generally bad. But this is the same way I feel about most anime too which is why I'm not really a fan of that either.

Not too much is lost in translation, Kojima is just a weird dude. The stories do make sense (at least most of the time), but he takes such mind numbingly stupid routes from point a to point b that it comes off as a total clusterfuck. At a certain point I found that stuff enjoyable but over time it's just become "ughh Kojima".

You're absolutely on point with the anime bit, that's basically what MGS is.

The hype comes down to his game design though. Kojima is a creative son of a bitch. Even within the confines of the MGS series he was always pouring new ideas into his games or putting major twists on old ones. He has an eye for detail and ways of working interaction into his games that are second to none. His games are full of variety and guarantee replayability. He's no slouch with the mechanics or level design either and in the case of MGSV his team delivered gold on both fronts.

The guy is a master of producing flawed gems. Just about all of his games have "wtf, but why?" glaring flaws that stick out like a sore thumb against the backdrop of an otherwise excellent game. But you can always trace those flaws back to the fact that he was experimenting with the formula, trying to do something new. Sometimes it pays off big, sometimes it's a dud, but at least you're in for something different.

That's the only reason why I'm looking forward to this game. The trailer does nothing for me, but I do expect Kojima to deliver on a fresh play experience with some quality design.

This trailer offered no information about the game. How can anyone be excited after seeing this trailer is beyond me. You are left with the same amount of information about the game prior to seeing the trailer. If anyone missed the trailer they are literally not missing anything game related.

Fulsome? Peace Walker was his favorite but he didn't get that right? That's hilarious, especially after MGSV modeled a lot of it's design after Peace Walker.

What a shame he didn't beat Ground Zeroes, as it ties directly to MGSV. It wasn't that hard, I did everything possible in it, but just to beat it for the story wasn't too tough. Bummer to hear that from a supposed MGS fan.

I'm the BIGGEST MGS fan around!...lol.

Nah. His stuff is just too weird these days for my taste. I was on board for MGS 1-3 and I adored the gameplay on the Zone of the Enders games. I don't think my mind is open enough to comprehend where he's taking it now.
