You can now ride a hoverboard... Also superhuman speed when running in combat.
Here's the 50-minute gameplay vid:
I'm not seeing the appeal. I'm trying to watch and skip over the terribly boring parts, but nothing has me excited.
I'm getting BOTW vibes from this and for me that's a bad thing. There's nothing worse in a game than a big world with absolutely nothing to do in it.
When the game releases to critical acclaim, proving all the naysayers wrong, somebody really is going to need to link together all of these hater threads in one place. It will be like a wall of shame.
Dude never played walking simulators, a few vehicles doesn't change emptiness.
It looks like BotW + HZD = MGSV redone
I hate BotW, Like HZD, and rather just play MGSV.

Most people consider it a garbage heap.

Kojima ran out of time making it perfect. Oh well, maybe he'll get it right this time around?
@uninspiredcup: correction: sw posters do not like it. This place is a microcosm anyway. Mgs4 was an excellent game when it released.
I think this game looks fantastic myself. I loved Metal Gear Solid 4 and 5. I very much enjoy Kojima’s crazy stories and think that he puts a lot of clever, funny, and interesting things to do in his games. Am very eager to play this game as well.
Looks boring the open world is just so dull everything looks the same more or less and the combat seems like a afterthought.
Meh, I'm in. It's either going to be a masterpiece, or the culmination of Kojima's spectacular nervous breakdown. Hell, could be both. I'm gonna ride this crazy train regardless.

When it comes to new IP coming from Sony, you gotta take the leap of Faith cause otherwise, we'll never know if it's really that good.
DS looks like the worst game I’ve ever seen. Kojima fans better not ever get caught calling out Nintendo fans ever again. How anyone can look at these recent trailers and get “excited” just shows the level of delusion some of you have.
I hope those baby pod collectibles are really transmitters to the authorities. Y’all need to be locked up somewhere.

Lol
This guy is serious

Using a past-tense. Great games stay great.
If anything this use of language further highlights the factually correct point that, it was an expectation people felt needed validated than a reality.
Now it's diminished and Japanese George Lucas is about to take us to Gungan City.
@uninspiredcup: Are people seriously calling MGS4 a bad game? Out of 84 reviews on metacritic, not a single one is even mixed. And you don't even need to check any reviews, just ask anyone who has enjoyed the previous games what they think of it. Who exactly are you referring to by most people? Ghost and the rest of the gang who think Max Payne is the greatest thing ever? Get out of here, lol.

But that would be a bias opinion as Metal Gear Solid fans are renowned for their fanaticism. The gaming media itself, more than questionable.
It's far better to ask someone detached from the series, with an objective opinion.
Very poor.
@uninspiredcup: I consider myself a fan of the series. In fact, I think it is my favourite gaming franchise of all time, and I didn't like MGSV. I could tell you exactly what's wrong with it, as could many MANY other fans who didn't enjoy it all that much. So where exactly is the bias there? MGSV was liked by people who were not familiar with previous games a lot more than by those who were.
MGS4 wasn't exactly a game for everyone (as opposed to V, or many other games for that matter), but it was perfect at what it wanted to be, hence its critical acclaim.
I see you always linking videos of people expressing their opinions on games. Maybe you shouldn't always pick the ones that fit your agenda, or wait, better yet, try having a personal opinion.

My opinion is that video.
@lundy86_4: Because it sucked. I was very disappointed. It just isn't impressive gameplay, plain and simple
@lundy86_4: I don't know what SW thinks of Death Stranding but I'm looking forward to it the most! I hope this game delivers.
Ive been hoping for years and this 48 minutes didn't deliver imo. Nothing shown was exciting. Skating on luggage isn't impressive to me.

You clearly haven't seen the scene with a attachable toilet inside the shower.
50 minute gameplay trailer? Ain't nobody got time for that.
I skimmed through it and mostly saw traveling, which is what made Metal Gear Solid V worse than MGS1, 2, 3 and even 4. Well, one of the things. There were a BUNCH.
I feel like this will either be a masterpiece and possibly GOTY condenter (but a slowly paced one), or a huuuge disappointment, but with a couple bonus points added in review scores because of Kojima's reputation.

Well I also am I big MGS series fan. I like 4, not love it. He took the game out of the players hands for stretches that were too long. He got a little too "I wannbe a film maker" with his cutscenes. Gameplay was phenomenal imo and the fan service and tie up was fun as hell.
MGS5 mechanically is one of the best games this gen. Controlling Snake and playing has never been better implemented. The structure of the game sucked. Credits before and after every mission, the disjointed-ness ruined any narrative which we MGS fans enjoyed in our gameplay and replaying missions for what reason after 30 or so was stupid shit.
@doomnukem3d: It doesn't, but if the general consensus is that a game is amazing, then it's most likely a very good game. Some people not liking it because they can't appreciate what that game does particularly well to deserve such praise doesn't magically make it bad.
@Arkhalipso: I'm just saying I'd rather people point to the things that make a game good rather than saying it's good because other people think it's good.
@Arkhalipso: The game is mostly cutscenes. Frowned upon these days. The game runs at 20 FPS. Also frowned upon. MGS4 belongs in the top 5 most overrated games ever made discussion.
@goldenelementxl: So performance and number/lenght of cutscenes is all you need to objectively review a game. Bravo.
What is actually frowned upon is how people prioritize certain aspects that are almost irrelevant to the actual quality of a game. All MGS games had dips in frame rate and long cutscenes (not to mention codec conversations) yet that didn't stop it from becoming one the most beloved and memorable franchises in gaming.
This "PCMR hurr durr graphx 16k 83616fps" syndrome is seriously taking gaming in an awful direction.
I wonder what you think about games like Undertale.
Showing you the Potential of the game was the purpose of that gameplay trailer
You guys are use to the same old instant appeals.
It's super obvious the intense parts of the game haven't been shown yet
To call this game boring just speaks to how bad a gamers acknowledgement skills are
That trailer showed how rich and expansive the minor aspects of the gameplay are going to be.

LOL, sounds more like you are making excuses for a game that looks bad.
@Arkhalipso: No, but when a game has over 8 hours of cutscenes, and holds the record for the longest cutscene sequence, you kinda gotta look at it for what it is. MGS4 is barely s video game. And when the actual gameplay fits the “unplayable” standard of today, how the hell am I supposed to rate it? MGS4 is a movie game that doesn’t even hit the solid 24fps standard of movies...
Kojima has himself and his fans so far up his ass that y’all have suffered brain damage. All the series has is it’s story. And explain the story to any unbiased individual and they will call the police on you. The shits not clever, coherent, or entertaining. It’s just strange to be strange. And game journo’s turn around and call the game “high art.” Gtfo with that noise...
The Yakuza used Kojima to launder money. (An actual conspiracy theory floated by many reputable sources). When it became clear that the dude was eating into the profits for his bullshit, they let him go. Sony didn’t get the memo. Call it a late gen mistake on their part.

But that's not really true either.
All entertainment is subjective to the individual. Good/Bad are objective judgements and nobody has absolute say of what is good/bad. If a lot of people like something that makes it popular not necessarily good. See Justin Bieber music as an example.
Is Fortnite the best game in the world since its the most played by people? By your logic it must be.

Went from "people are gonna get owned soon" to mental gymnastics about why the FORTY EIGHT MINUTES shown wasn't impressive. This wasn't a 2 minute gameplay trailer. 48 minutes of big fvckin whoop is what we got. It didn't own anyone.
@goldenelementxl: Now what part of it having long cutscenes makes it a movie? The witcher 3 could have had a half an hour cutscene and people would still love it, and it certainly wouldn't be considered a movie game. I've had more fun playing and messing around in MGS4 than with half the games this gen. I've actually replayed that game like 8 times to get the plat and not once I got bored, trying different aproaches, different weapons, discovering that you could ally with the revels, finding secrets at shadow moses or strange ways to defeat the bosses, and many new things every single time, even during briefing cutscenes. I did skip most cutscenes on later playthroughs for time purposes, but was stunned the very first time I saw them.
If you put together all the dialogue that you have in modern open world RPGs it would be a lot longer than all the scenes in MGS4 combined. Hell, think about the original FFVII and the countless bubbles of dialogue that you had to read without being able to interact with anything. I guess you just skip them then, since you appear to have the attention span of ghost. What people fail to understand about it is the build up from previous games and how every single moment in the game was epic because of it. There's nothing particularly bad about it that you don't see in other games, only people hating for the sake of hating.
No one would have played the games if they had been boring or bad gameplay wise. Get that into your skull. People seem to just hate on it because of how good it was and how popular it became, and also because they were not part of it.

I never said anything about popularity, only rating.
"If the general consensus is that a game is amazing, then it's most likely a very good game."
And that's exactly what I meant. There are countless games that I've enjoyed a lot and didn't get a high score or were considered mediocre, and countless others that I don't like and have rated very high. There is a difference between liking something and considering it very good from an objective point of view. Regardless, you're not taking into account the demographics. Fortnite is popular because it is perfect for a particular group of people, which happens to be a lot of kids. If you really think about it, the game has tons of content added regularly, a massive player base and it's free to play. It's perfect for them. Something similar could be said about LoL or Dota, CS, Minecraft, etc.
