Demon's Souls is gamespot's GOTY (Keep it here or face punishment)

I've been saying Demon's souls is my Goty for months. I'm glad to see GS giving it the credit it deserves.

DS was so addictive; it had been awhile since I can remember thinking about a game while at work and waiting to get home so I could play.

In celebration I might have to play through it again and invade some peoples worlds and ruin their day ;)

Amazing news!

This is like a Europa Universalis or a Shin Megami Tensei game winning GOTY.

I won't start a debate on wether Demon's souls deserves it or not but I can at least say it's the best game I've imported from US for $60.

It's great that a underdog high quality game can still win awards competing with high marketed games.

Aside from the 3 percent that voted Demon's Souls for 2009 Game of the Year, I am very glad that I wasn't the only one who thought this game was deserving of this title. I am even more glad that the difficulty for this game didn't sway their decision elsewhere. Difficulty might sometime be too much but once you overcome it, it is a very rewarding feeling after doing so.

U2 is my GOTY but Demon's Souls is still a great choice.

meh, whatever. I think it's an awesome game, but it's no goty. Gamespot is just doing it's "going rogue" routine to spark up more hits.

after I imported and beat the asian version numerous times around march, I knew demon's souls was something special but I didn't think it would have gotten the recognition it deserved. I'm definitely happy that it won GOTY because it's my personal game of the generation so far.

Huh...I decided to get modern warfare 2 instead of demons souls at the last second in front of the pay counter with DS in hand, hmm, I wonder if I'll regret it, oh well, I have enough games now that it's christmas ^^

I would try the game myself, but I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the online features and I fear it may be too difficult for me. ;_;

I have to agree. I don't think I could ever get sick of playing Demon's Souls, yet I have already forgotten Uncharted 2. It was a great game, with breathtaking visuals, but I have no desire to go back to it. Yahtzee summed it best by calling it, "a popcorn game."

Demon's Souls, on the other hand, is a cult hit that made a name for itself without a money filled hype train driving it. Gamers gave Demon's Souls it's rep because gamers fell in love with how unique it is. It truly is a 'gamer's game' in that sense. It is very deserving of GOTY and I give GS props for not being all about the usual suspects this year.

That sounds like a good explanation of the game, and I can work with that. I don't know if I can master another Ninja Gaiden game anytime soon, or if I'd want to. :P

i see people trying to downplay uncharted 2 cause it didnt win its still an amazing game its multiplayer especially co op is fun

just because another does well doesnt mean anything less of another game all opinions at the end of the day both in 2 different genres for how ever u like to play action adventure 3rd person shooter with online , or action rpg with online
