It is no news that pride hurt hermits and lems are conjuring up BS about how the assets in The Order are low quality and hiding behind the depth of field. it is time to clear this up once and for all that the asset quality is in fact of the highest quality in raw polycount, shader treatment, texture res and AA.

Everything ranges from character models to props, to buildings are of pristine quality not seen in other games. It is truly a blasphemy hermits would use the depth of field excuse to downplay it. Of course I'm not saying it's without any fault, any game has faults but to suggest the game uses blurs to cover up anything is just plain dumb and ignorant.

assets from Battlefront for comparison.

I'm assuming you don't have eyes or something?

Look at anything that's not the water or sky. All the assets look like shit. There are shadows clearly missing. Basically it doesn't look good in the slightest. The other pictures of things close up look amazing. Looking at the distance does not.

Yes, I've been saying this since the start: The game looks absolutely fantastic.

So why did they go ahead and smear so much blur over it to make everything look horrible in motion ?

What the **** pictures are you even looking at, the DoF and the film grain are still entirely in play in every picture you just posted except the last one, and none of them even look that good anyway. What a shit troll.

Are you kidding me? Human eyes simply can't resolve that amount of tiny details in that distance so the LOD perfectly mimics what you see in real life, besides the shadow falloff distance in the game is all the way up to where the smokes are in the distance, that's impressive man.

So now you're trying to make up a bunch of excuses as to why that shot looks like shit?

Look at the boat to the left, which looks like complete ass with probably 100 polygons (wooh hyperbole). There should be a shadow cast of the boat, where is it? The boxes should be casting much larger shadows based on the level of the sun.

The crane to the left also looks like ass.

The shot just doesn't look good in the slightest.

Are you truly this dumb? DOF is not just a set value, the focal point can be used any where depending on the f stop distance thus manipulating which objects or background to be blurred. In those shots DOF is simply used on the background in order to display the foreground object in clarity. You can turn off the DOF all together for what's worth, stop turning corners man. And show me anything that 's better if you don't think they're good.

How do you know it's not casting a shadow already inside a cloud shadow? It's using AO which is the appropriate thing to use in that condition. The picture as a whole looks brilliant, can't blame how the reality works tho.

The entire point of your thread was to show the game isn't relying on DoF as a tool to help carry it, but every single image has it, as well as film grain. Even when you're spending time zoomed in on the super specific items like the devs want since the game sucks, they're still hiding the entire thing in a huge wash of blurry post production. You're proving nothing except what a colossal shitposter you are and how obviously you shouldn't be allowed to make any threads.

Reality has boats that look that shit?

Because it seems this is a common theme in The Order. Look at the below picture. there's a giant light source at the front. Where is the shadow cast by the man right at the front? where is the shadow cast by the chair to the left? Nothing appears to be blocking them, but they aren't there.

Yeah, I think you'll find the shadows that should be cast by that fucking enormous light source are so far away that the human eye can't see them. It's actually the perfect distance as calculated by the developers. They truly are geniuses and it definitely has nothing to do with potential limitations.

hermits cant even afford a good tv and a ps4?

using photomode the blur can be disabled and you can play however you want.bascially photomode in the order is like the sweetfx mod in skyrim that hermits always brag about graphic mods.

without filter the game looks good and even with the filter the game looks incredble.

time to accept no game on pc looks half as good as the order graphically.

uncharted 4 and the order 1886 make squandron 42 and star citizen look like launch ps3 games.

Why would I need an alt, I stand resolute in what I say and don't need to create additional accounts to attempt at backing myself up or looking like I have support.

hermits just arent smart TBH. the softness they stupidly confuse with blur has nothing to do with assets and is an unavoidable side effect of temporal aa. you can choose between softness or shimmer. the amt of softness in the order is very reasonable considering the near complete elimination of temporal aliasing. its on par with the implementation in unreal tournament alpha, a game that also gets hit with some softness if you use temporal AA. the only other way to eliminate temporal aliasing without softness is brute forcing massive levels of supersampling, which clearly isnt an option.

There's more at work than just the temporal AA, it does add a level of softness to an image but not to the degree that is seen in The Order. They've got so many different visual filters and post processes taking place in the game that it's hard to pin it down to one thing.

The combination of temporal AA, fog, motion blur, depth of field, film grain and a washed out color palette just does not make for something great. It's a beautiful game but there is just too much going on which detracts from the game visually, makes it undefined and for the most part an eye squinting blur.

you can turn off film grain and motion blur. you and your cronies are still clueless and dead wrong about blur hiding low quality assets in the order. the order has the highest quality assets of any available game. the materials are fucking obscenely good

hermits just arent smart TBH. the softness they stupidly confuse with blur has nothing to do with assets and is an unavoidable side effect of temporal aa. you can choose between softness or shimmer. the amt of softness in the order is very reasonable considering the near complete elimination of temporal aliasing. its on par with the implementation in unreal tournament alpha, a game that also gets hit with some softness if you use temporal AA. the only other way to eliminate temporal aliasing without softness is brute forcing massive levels of supersampling, which clearly isnt an option.

"You and your cronies"?

What are we some kind of fucking hivemind? Don't associate what other people say with me as if I said that, there's nothing wrong with the assets however it drowns out some of the low quality background geometry, buildings and so on, it tries to keep your focal point on what is directly in front of you.

The Order does have bad assets..... to say it doesn't would be a flat out lie.

I've not completed it yet but certain parts of what I have played were damn awful, the streets and alley ways seem to be the biggest culprits.

Some assets are great, some are mediocre at best. The biggest drawback in The Order is it's graphics engine, with it's really poor lod distance coupled with an excessive dof effect to hide that poor lod distance.

It's absolutely possible that they used blur to cover up. Regardless, the game still looks great.
