This is really odd because when the game was first announced they made a pretty strong case for "you can go anywhere you see" which seemed like a pretty crucial point to make in a game like this. It's hard for me to work out the scale without playing it, but I thought it would be huge based on what the hype was saying.
Remember what they were saying about Alan Wake how its fully open world and you could go anywhere back in like 07 or 08? Well, it got consolized and maybe (hopefully not) its happening to Destiny as well.
Is it held back by last gen consoles perhaps? It's not even an MMO like everyone still thinks. They are not branding it as an MMO. It's a "shared-world" shooter and that's a perfect way to describe it. You share the map with a dozen other blokes at most.. They are just there - killing enemies whilst you go about your business. It's a very cool concept but it's not doing much for the game from what I gathered from the alpha/beta.
