It is data from vgchartz. We can't expect them to have even remotely accurate PC sale data.If im not mistaken that is not including pc digital downloads

Hard to give exact numbers when Steam not give away their numbers but 600k sounds bad for a multiplat game...
aroxx_ab
It's not... 30k like xenoblade in Europe is bad. 600k in one week is not bad for a multiplat game, most games do not do these numbers contrary to popular belief.

It is funny, Xenoblade beat all Deus Ex versions in sales at that store i buy most my games at :P
Digital downlod will make up a large chunk of DX:HR sales since PC gamers will be the most interested in the game.
Hopefully the numbers will only get higher from word of mouth sales. I know I endorsed at least 3 copies of Borderlands, Deus Ex seems like it should get people talking.
I'm not sure if that's meant to be a lot. From three platforms?ocstewWell its no Call of Duty / Grand Theft Auto / Halo / Grand Turismo / Mario / Pokemon or anything but its still pretty impressive. The Witcher 2 sold 1 million on PC after 3 months, by comparison.

Its not THAT good considering the fact that it was advertised just about everywhere, but yeah, it's only estimates.
Gears and COD? I doubt this is the game for you.Good for them, sadly I wont be getting the game for a while yet, gonna have my hands full with gears and cod. And my HUGE backlog of games I got on the steam summer sale.

Harharhar.. very funny! :P What? I can't enjoy RPGs and online shooters??!
This is VG chartz people.
They are incredibly inaccurate for console game,s nevermind PC games.
They literally poll a few hundred people coming out of locla Gamespots and base their figures on those polls.
In other words, PC is EXTREMLY undercounted, and event he console versions aren't accurate at all.
This is their best guess based on incomplete data.
For example, take a look at their chart for The Witcher 2 PC: they report 1/2 of what they actually sold.
For Portal 2, which we know sold more units on PC than consoles, they report that the xbox 360 sold 3.5 TIMES more copies.
Completey, utterly wrong.
This game desrves big sales, it's an awesome game, but I'm going to wait for mroe solid (read, not made up based on a poll) numbers.
Pachter, who gets actual sales numbers, says that VGChartz numbers are typically close to the truth. The sales data are estimates from VGChartz, anybodies guess would be as credible as this. No doubt it sold well, but I'll wait for an official press release.

This is the irrefutable proof that VGChartz numbers are completely wrong then.

Pachter? The same guy who complained against EA on NPD sales not representing the whole truth? source
Vg chartz? The company who aknowledges they come up with ideal numbers that are not designed to be correct? They have stated they do not track DD sales as well source
If you start looking farther, you start seeing major issues and articles on vgchartz, (see here, or Here
Conclusion for me: Vgchartz is a nice little site to jsut have a number and make things seem better or worse on websites thru their weekly numbers. To me though, they are no better then John Q making a website and forming a methology with a couple retailers to come up with sales figures.
Wait for official numbers if your into that type of thing.
[QUOTE="hypoty"]Pachter, who gets actual sales numbers, says that VGChartz numbers are typically close to the truth. They say Mortal Kombat sold 2 million. WB says they sold 3. The first game sold 1 million in its whole life time. For this one to get close to a million in just a week is pretty good.
It will do over 2 million once the word gets out. Deus Ex isn't as big a name in the real world as it might seem on gaming forums, expecting millions sold right away without massive marketing campaign is unrealistic.ManicAce
This. I wish there were more hardcore gamers out there but unfortunetely we are in the minority. 600K is definetely good for a game that really hasn't reached the mainstream audience. I know this because almost none of my friends are hardcore gamers, and the only place I've heard about Deus Ex is on these forums.
Pc version numbers are wrong.
1. vg charts
2. valve doesn't release sales info and this is a steamworks title
3. the game had a 90k peak the other day (as in the highest number of players playing at the same time, not total number of unique players).

That's the funniest thing I have read all day.
I'm not sure if that's meant to be a lot. From three platforms?ocstewnot every game sells like call of duty or gears of war, unfortunately. its absolutely (and almost literally) sickening that those games sell so much while they lack overall quality compared to something like deus ex. but i can see why, as deus ex really isn't a casual run n gun cliche-fest.

He didn't "complain against EA on NPD sales not representing the whole truth", he simply stated that retail numbers are far from being irrelevant. And he's right.

and EA never said it wasn't irrelevant in his context. He took their statement and tried to spin it his way as he could not argue that NPD was giving the public a false representation of games and the global sales data. When you tell the public or give the public half truths, people take it as facts when actually they are missing a major part of the issue as the numbers become irrelevant as its incomplete. Thats atleast what I got. Same context as we have with vgchartz being a measure of any game sales. Its incomplete, made up of polls, telephone surveys, and some small group of retailers. Its not a real measure of anything expecially when they aknowledge they are not tracking all data or even attempting to track it.Please Log In to post.
