You haven't bought ME3 yet, so it goes to show that skipping a "big" game is quite easily. Since PS3 has a barn bursting amount of world class, high scoring exclusives to play, coupled with my beast PC rig, well, it would be easy to skip Halo4.Sony isn't going under..PS4 is a go, locked in, ready to rock. It goes without saying that a thanks is in order for Kazuo Hirai You have taken Ken's vision and molded into something beutfitul. All the world's your stage. And all the men and women merely players: A non-doer is very often a critic-that is, someone who sits back and watches doers, and then waxes philosophically about how the doers are doing. It's easy to be a critic, but not you Kaz, no being a doer requires effort, risk, and change and you have done a nobel job. Bravo!Heil68
SONY DOMINATION CONTINUATION
Mmm... If all these rumors circulating around the web about these NexGen consoles, then it's going to be bad. At least for Microsoft and Sony. Nintendo's in a good position. I think.

Haven't got ME3 "YET" but there is no way I'm missing playing the 3rd of the trilogy at some point meaning, as soon as I get more time for gaming and hopefully that's real soon. :DOh and also, Halo 4 > All !! :P
[QUOTE="TwoFace-BS"]So prices of new games will go up againrawsavononly seems 'right' (given that they have not even kept up with inflation) Neither have books or movies. Video games aren't a product limited by raw materials, the audience is growing bigger = more sales, more revenue, no need to increase prices.

Video games aren't a product limited by raw materials, the audience is growing bigger = more sales, more revenue, no need to increase prices. your line of reasoning leaves out some VERY significant factors...there are 'materials/resources' to consider -human resource costs have increased (paychecks to keep up with inflation for everyone involved) -buildings (rent or buy) -energy costs to run the building -transportation costs -etc Development costs have increased anywhere from 10-18 x that of just a few generations ago (depending on your source) The instal base is barely 2x as big for that same period ...hopefully you can see the error in your logic without me having to write a thesis I don't want to write and one no one wants to read Inflation affects all things. Same with fuel. Just b/c you don't drive does not mean it does not affect you (cost of goods goes up as the cost to transport them does)
[QUOTE="TwoFace-BS"]So prices of new games will go up againrawsavononly seems 'right' (given that they have not even kept up with inflation) Problem,if these used game rumours are true(and thats a big IF IMO)if prices go up again, people will not be buying as much in general and that could start hurting companies that dont produce the biggest franchises.

But anyway games are getting cheaper to buy, so the increase size of the audience is indeed having an impact on prices.[QUOTE="rawsavon"][QUOTE="TwoFace-BS"]So prices of new games will go up againTwoFace-BSonly seems 'right' (given that they have not even kept up with inflation) Problem,if these used game rumours are true(and thats a big IF IMO)if prices go up again, people will not be buying as much in general and that could start hurting companies that dont produce the biggest franchises. without getting into (another) thesis and some economic theory, I will say that that will be a very hard conclusion to backup: -you have to consider the profit from the price increase versus lost sales -you have to factor in how many people that bought used before would switch to new -you have to consider how many people would no longer buy -you have to count digital sales (what, IMO, should replace used sales...should be much cheaper) I will say that one would imagine they have some good economists and financial analysts working on this...people more qualified than most here
*sighs* they said BUDGETS AS in budgets in the games them selves you have a certain amount of assets you have available and your having to double them because of what the system can push...they aren't talking about money budget.
The biz website is the one adding money context the developers aren't talking about money.
[QUOTE="TwoFace-BS"]So prices of new games will go up againrawsavononly seems 'right' (given that they have not even kept up with inflation)
Prices aren't determined by inflation, they are determined by demand. The only certainty is that if prices go up, less games will be sold.
This is especially true since inflation doesn't raise peoples wages, just their costs.
Only things like utitilites are going to adhere to inflation, since they are a necessity and people don't buy less of them when the cost goes up.

[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]I kinda do from your post but not exactly No where did the developers say hey our development money budgets are double they said our budgets are double we are having to put double the budget for models. No where do they mention money and in game development and programming budget doesn't always concern money. GI biz is the one thats added that context. My god I cant believe how many people just dont understand.

[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]I kinda do from your post but not exactly Hardware and software related budgets. For example, it is common for developers to create assets onto games while developing their title, however near the end of the development cycle, they start to cut off things because all that stuff can not fit within the console's hardware budget. Budget = How much a console can handle properly. My god I cant believe how many people just dont understand.
