Ok I know it takes more money to make games but the DLC is out of control. Same day DLC is just wrong and unlocking DLC on the disc is almost as bad. If they doing this now then next gen I will buy a game for 60 beans play 5 hours and need a credit card to finish playing the rest of the game for only 19.99.

...you had to know they would figure out a way to get their inflation increases somewhere eventually. The market refuses to pay more upfront. So they get it somewhere else. People get mad b/c they feel it is 'wrong' (I don't like on disc DLC either). But games have not kept up with rising costs of goods, transportation, salaries, or other forms of entertainment (like going to the movies). This is your 'inflation'
Textures shouldn't cost any more as the HQ versions used in development don't tend to make it to the final disk. As for models they only have to increase the poly count on one of the model series, not all of them and it's arguably harder to create a good model with a low poly count than with a high poly count.
A lot of games don't break even as is, this could be very bad news indeed.

The majority don't but then again the majority do not have to use these features. Only first party titles really have to use all the features to show off the console.

I kinda do from your post but not exactly Hardware and software related budgets. For example, it is common for developers to create assets onto games while developing their title, however near the end of the development cycle, they start to cut off things because all that stuff can not fit within the console's hardware budget. Budget = How much a console can handle properly. said it far better then me *bows* thank you.
I thought wii would be supported due to high dev costs and look how that turned out. There are not many small devs left these days. Most of them are billion$ companies!
