  • Forza 7 PC Ultra 4K vs GT Sport PS4 Pro 1800p checkerboard
  • Forza 7 has dynamic weather, uses photogrammetry and offers more cars and tracks
  • GT Sport offers less but delivers it in more detailed, near photorealistic manner
  • For both games, detail in photomode is identical to gameplay
  • GT Sport Physically based rendering approach offers a slight edge in car model detail
  • GT sport's extra detail may have come at a cost of releasing the game with fewer cars
  • Forza and GT offer detailed tracks in their own way
  • Forza has better quality textures
  • GT has longer draw distances and more distant detail
  • Tracks are nearly identical in detail except for areas like the pit, where GT uses pit crews while forza uses carts
  • GT Sport uses simple 3D crowds vs Forza's 2D crowds with the occasional flag waving 3D model
  • Trees are more realistic in GT but come with artifacts during a race
  • Both games use Pre computed global illumination data with GT edging forza out in quality
  • Forza uses a mix of prebaked shadows for track elements and realtime shadows for cars
  • GT uses realitime shadows for all elements, but suffers from quality issues in certain conditions
  • Forza's baked shadows could be missing during certain times of day
  • Forza's shadows could take up more storage space for shadow data
  • GT Sport does not offer day night cycle, Forza's time progression is race progression based
  • Forza offers dynamic track elements like tire walls that react to the player's car
  • Gt offers less dynamic elements but instead offers dirt particles that can reflect light from tail lights
  • Forza offers sunshafts in certain tracks, missing in GT sport
  • Reflections in Forza uses the previous frame's data. This means that you can see the driving line reflected onto the car during a race
  • Forza reflections are updated at 30fps on Xbox One and X
  • Reflection resolution is reduced in GT sport because it uses cube maps
  • Reflections in GT sport update at 60 fps except in cockpit view where it can drop to 20fps updates
  • In GT, all cars use the player's cube map, so the reflect whatever the player's car reflects
  • Replays are better on GT Sport
  • GT offers 24 car grids in Sport mode multiplayer only. 20 Cars in arcade mode.
  • Forza offers 24 cars in all modes
  • GT offers split screen mode that hits 60fps but with crowds removed and much smaller screens with a weird bug
  • VR is cool in GT sport

Cool.....2 great looking games, nice video although he went into a little bit too much detail for me on some areas, I think this quote from the video sums up this comparison well for me:

"...both implementations are equally valid, and offer different strengths and weaknesses".

To me that is the gist of this whole video, and it looks like GT focuses a little more on details in some areas and kudos to them for that, but as the video implied it makes sense in the context of how limited the amount of cars are in comparison to Forza and the longer development time.

It's not a knock on GT cars, like I said give credit where credit is due but the question you should ask yourself is how some of these extra fine details on each car will affect your enjoyment and would you rather have had more cars instead of all this extra attention to detail. You always need to balance quality with quantity in my opinion. And I thought the trees were better in GT, I was surprised to hear them say it's not as black and white as that because of artifacts with shadows and minor pop-ups that occur because of the extra tree detail in GT.

So good show from each team these games look great to me and I can't wait to play on XOneX and see all this in person finally instead of always watching these videos.

Cool video, impressive that Polyphony can make a game look better than a native 4k game maxed out, the reviewer mentioned a couple of times that he has never seen such impressive looking stuff on any other racer and that's saying something. Their talent is amazing. Hopefully with time GTS starts getting more and more content. It will end up being one amazing game.

Wow, I'm blown away by why PD did with the PS4 Pro hardware. I'm sorry, but if you watch the video through it's unambiguous that GTS pulls out ahead from a visual perspective. This really surprised me. There are exceptions that they highlight, and texture Q is definitely the biggest one. Although the textures shown in the comparisons are perfectly fine, albeit inferior. Really impressed.

Unfortunately for Sony, I really have no interest in the TYPE of racing game they have created here. I won't be buying F7 anytime soon since I'm happy with 6 and in love with FH3, but it's definitely more my style game

In general terms I see it like this

Forza

-Better textures

-Semi dynamic time and weather against GT which is completely static

-Even though the trees are less complex they are less distracting when racing than the ones in GT

-Supports 24 cars in all modes while GT only on one mode

-More variety and bigger game overall

GTS

-More graphical detail

-Better lighting

-More realistic looking

-Dynamic shadows vs static ones in Forza

-Better replays

-Nice extras like VR and split screen

@mowgly1:I don't think so:

"Ultimately, whether you're into Gran Turismo or Forza, both games are gorgeous and represent top teams working at peak levels to deliver beautiful, high frame-rate racing games for both consoles (and an exceptional PC version of Forza is the icing on the cake). Each one has its own advantages over the other in terms of visual quality but it's fair to say that neither one is short of gorgeous."

So Forza looks way better as suspected.

In GTS you can literally see the Polygons around the wheel wells of the Cars. That's some PS2 levels of Polygons right there. The 2D trees in GTS that spin around as you drive by are waaaay too distracting. WTF is this PS2?? No dynamic weather, No single player campaign, worse graphics, worse sounds, less cars than Forza 7, less everything but the delusional Cows still think that the shit that is GTS is Comparable to the Greatness of Forza 7. How GTS got a 7 is suspect as the game should be a 5 Mediocre at best.

@mowgly1: no it is. Whether it's triggered at predictable moments or not. If the race goes from dry to wet it's dynamic.

Both look great, but this is pretty decisive win for GT Sport. Considering the power and RAM advantage afforded Forza, it's a real testament to the skill and effort PD puts into their work.

The video makes it clear that GT Sport is the much better-looking game overall:

GT Sport has better lighting, photorealism, shadows, cars, trees, characters and replays (due to its more advanced engine).

Forza 7 has better textures and higher resolution (due to running on stronger hardware).

Boy PD did some work on GTS graphics. When it was first revealed it was laughable and people though it was gonna get destroyed on gfx department. How things have changed especially the trees. I blame original xboxone as the base for Forza 7 Shortcomings.

How many cars are on the track for each, which cars have more detail, dynamic weather in one and not the other?

No just no.........

24 max cars for both, GT Sport has better car detail and better coloring/lighting/materials, Forza has rain/wet roads. GT Sport also has better crowds and an animated pit crew, better detailed trees and more background draw distance. Yes.

@kuu2: "How many cars are on the track for each"

Both have 24 cars maximum but Forza has on all modes while GT only on sport mode and 20 for the rest

"which cars have more detail"

The video makes it clear that GT has more detailed cars

"dynamic weather in one and not the other"

semi-dynamic weather in Forza, static in GT

Still according to the video GT has a graphical edge. The reviewer mentioned twice how he has never seen better looking stuff on any other racer as with GT while he never said the same with Forza. Although of course Forza looks great too.

Again sport mode is not a physics based environment putting less stress on the system. Less cars in other modes is an absolute compromise.

Static weather is a compromise putting less stress on the system.

Again both look great but there was major compromise to get GT to look great compared to Forza which is 4k/60fps with minimal actual racing compromises.

I'm not saying otherwise. GT has a graphical edge but because it lacks more dynamic options like weather or time and has less cars which allows it to focus on more details and more quality lighting. The video is really clear. It is still impressive for PD to achieve that on weak hardware as also the video mentioned.

@pinkanimal: The extra small details in GTS are negligible at best especially when compared to all the missing Cars and inferior Trims in GTS. So you can see the extra little hole in the windshield wiper nozzle when zooming all the way in. Negligible at best especially when Polyphony only had to Draw 200 Cars vs Turn 10 who had to draw 700 Cars.

Pretty amazing that GT looks that good when considering that’s the Pro (which isn’t very impressive power wise) vs Ultra PC.

I don’t know crap about graphics or why a game looks a certain way but in my uninformed opinion the lighting is the most impressive thing. Looks real.

Forza should do lighting like that. Is there a specific reason why they don’t?

I think Turn 10 could and should have offered a quality mode none native 4k for xboxonex. Obviously bump up pc ultra settings as they seemed to be limited to whatever the x1x is at. This mode will allow forza to absolutely take all the wins. GTS lighting and material quality and just draws more of the track including the shitty clouds lol. Again some of the shortcoming look like were set from the base consoles ps4 vs the weaker xboxone then the demand of 4k native resolution and higher texture quality had to kick in.

Turn 10 had largely outsorced Forza 7 development. Cars are included in that.

Btw. GTS also has 24 cars on screen. Not in all modes, but it has. So, nice try

Easier to do when you have less cars on track or turn off physics which GT does.

Wait, so because there's a reason GTS was able to sport this, you decided to assert it has worse details? That makes no sense. Also, I have no idea what you are talking about regarding physics - unless you're referring to the destructable tire barriers? GTS absolutely has "physics", and good physics from all I've read
