DF: The Evil Within 2 - Xbox One X 300% the pixel count over PS4 Pro, shots fired!!!

The Xbox One X renders the game at 1800p while the PS4 Pro renders the game at 1080p. DF mentioned the PS4 Pro version is best played on a 1080p display. The X version is best suited for a 4k display.

The PS4 Pro version has a bit more stable framerate and in an unlocked framerate mode it can hit 60 fps indoors. Although DF explains it's framerate is too unstable in this mode so the preferred mode is the locked 30 fps on both consoles.

The X version has 3 times the pixels of the PS4 Pro version. The difference is so staggering DF said they will contact the developer to see what went wrong with the pro patch.

IF you have a 4k HDR tv and want to play the Evil Within 2, no question what console will serve you the best.

If Tango used Id Tech 6 would it allow them to make it run in full 4K on Xbox X ?

Atleast og ps4 had games to show off its power. Lems have to lay there cofidence in multiplat games that are already well established on mutliple systems (rdr2)

Until a game has dynamic sky on x1 and not ps4. ( mgs ground zeros had on ps4 ) or sominthing that big of a difference the impact of being more powerful will reach no one.

A game of tic tac toe could be in 4k and 300 percent the pixels aswell. Dont mean much if graphics are being programed better on one side

Sounds pretty good. Now that the system is out there I expect devs will make better use of the power moving forward with upcoming games because they know what they have to work with during the actual development of the game instead of having to patch it in later on.

All I know is that this is probably the best looking Survival Horror game I've ever played, recently finished it on the X and loved it, only the heavy stealth areas I did not enjoy as much, but it's a hardcore survival horror game and it looks incredible overall. Runs well too, I had the frame rate unlocked, didn't have issues with that either.

Outlast 2 also looks really nice on the X, but it's a different style than Evil Within, less stuff to interact with in the environment, cleaner look overall I think

The Xbox One X version runs at 2.77 times the resolution, how exactly is that 300%? Sounds more like 277%.

The game looks crap anyway, and plays crap too. It's not a very good game, dated graphics (crap graphics look crap in hi res it's just a bit more obvious how crap they are) and shit horribly unbalanced gameplay that forces you to hunt around constantly just for fucking ammo and stuff.

That's a rather large gap in resolution. It could simply be an issue with the patch, not like it hasn't happened to the BoneX.

On the pro you have a resolution that is natively 25% of 4k so the image has to stretch all the way from 25% to the full 100% to fill the entire screen. By the time it's stretched out like that, you get a much softer, blurrier, more aliased image that doesn't look very good at all on a 4k tv. That's why DF says it is recommended to play it on a 1080p tv because then it is displaying the image natively without stretching and it looks better on that display.

On the X you have a resolution that is 80% the pixels of 4k so the image has to only stretch from 80% to 100% which is not very much. The resulting image quality is one that loses very little detail and clarity when compared to a native 4k image. Especially when you are sitting 6 feet or more away from your television. That's why DF says this image is best suited for a 4k HDR television.

Do you really not understand the difference? Or are you trying to conflate the two to make it seem as if the Xbox One X isn't much if any different than the PS4 Pro just because it also doesn't reach native 4k in some games? You even ignore that it is outputting almost 3 times as many pixels with an almost 3 times higher resolution than the PS4 Pro. It's not almost the same, they are vastly different. They are so different that DF the same source cows used as ownage for years recommends you play PS4 Pro games on an 1080p tv while they recommend you play the same games on a 4k HDR tv if you own an X. That is a world of a difference.

The Xbox One X is at 1800p/30fps while PS4 Pro runs at 1080p/30fps. Both have framerate dips but it should be noted that the Xbox One X loses framerate slightly more often than the Pro. However, DF made it clear that it was nothing to write home about. On the performance mode, the Xbox One X remains in the low 30fps while the Pro jumps all over the place from 30fps up to 50fps. Even though the Pro has a better reach towards the 60fps goal, the inconsistencies doesn't help the experience while the Xbox One X doesn't perform well enough to bother with the mode. DF suggest you are better off with the more stable 30fps mode on both platforms. Overall, they recommend the Xbox One X version as the better console experience.

But if you ask me, PC version is the way to go like always.

Never thought I'd drop The Evil Within 2. I waited and waited for a possible sequel. The creators didn't understand the first game, Mikami's game. Going semi-open world was dumb. Might return to it, but I'm unhappy with it.

Looks like Pro is more stable version than the X in 30 fps mode. Also it has 60fps mode, although not so stable.

Hmm... Just looked into it and damn I guess this is one of those rare poorly made games where settings don't make much of a difference. Also that GPU utilisation is bad.

That being said I said it once and I will say it again, brute force on PC fixes everything... 4K/60 is achievable with a 1080 Ti, just need to overclock that thing and lower settings.

Mine runs at 2050Mhz, this one runs at 1860 and gets 45-55FPS on Ultra so that extra 5FPS from the overclock and 5-8FPS from the setting drop should give a close 4k/60FPS

They should get a refund
