Ding Ding Ding.... reason strikes again. Just to let you guys know, the play and charge kit is really just 2 AA batteries literally taped together, not even lithium ones either. Oh and if you want you can make the controller wired and take out the battery pack when your connected to the play and charge and it will still work. But to play devil's advocate, 3DO you know it does take quite awhile for the actual controller to "die", I wouldn't be surprised if it lasted a few years. So instead of buying a new Controller for $55 you buy a cable for $10. I think the Elite comes with the Play & Charge Kit.
PS3_3DO
I don't laugh at the $5 rumble, I laugh at the 2.5 foot long charge cable, the no hdmi and the bluetooth remote control that is only produced by Sony.

I buy USB cables? I don't think so.
I have one that I use that came with the console and it suits me fine. If I would like to buy a new cable...I could just defer to the fact that I've got plenty lying around the house and avert the entire practice altogether.

I work in a game retailer and I have seen personally another remote that is not Bluetooth and is third party for Playstation 3.
HDMI is one of the cheapest cables you can possibly get if you know where to shop and know a little about it...

Then do you ship because I need one. What's the name? Regular universals are not bluetooth, if it's a combo bluetooth and the regular signal that everything else works with I'll buy it.I gave up looking months ago so I have not seen if any new ones have come out.
Why does anyone need a play and charge kit? For that matter why does anyone need rumble? Why does anyone need the any addons that Sony or Ms or Nintendo come otu with? You could play all games on every console without any of the fancy addons. (Well except maybe the Wii, you need a play and charge kit with that because they don;t have corded controllers and there isn't one included in the package)BumFluff122
Corded controllers for 360 have been practically discontinued. I have seen virtually no new shipments of wired controllers for MONTHS, in fact, I've only seen one in the last, maybe, 6 months. FYI, the Arcade 360 comes with a WIRELESS controller. The only way you can reasonably get a wired 360 controller now is to purchase a used one for the wired console price.
Of course, this is basically suicide. You get a teeny tiny warranty period, a very possibly defective console, no coverage from Microsoft, no hard drive, and no accessories for a fairly disagreeable price. Not even a viable purchase by any measure at all.
You need memory or a hard drive on practically any console released in the last decade. It is true that all three current-gen consoles come with one or the other, and it's a good precedent and I'm thankful for it.
But it's as though the lems aren't willing to acknowledge that motion sensing plus rumble plus internal rechargeable battery plus Bluetooth is pretty significant technology only one of which the 360 controller can claim for itself without making compromises. They're minor compromises, with the exception of motion sensing, I.E. the wireless tech in the 360 controller is at least sufficient if not equivalent, and the internal rechargeable battery can be replicated for a small fee.
But that's not the point. Here we have people poking fun because a controller came with a $5 surcharge for new technology that most assuredly caused pretty significant R&D expenses going both ways and was released within an obscenely manageable and agreeable timeframe to any consumer.
Plus, one comes with the MGS4 bundle. Boo freaking hoo.
To the person that said that the Elite comes with a P&C....to my knowledge, it does not. Otherwise, it would not make sense that the only controller marketed thus far and shipped to retailers with a paly & charge kit included for a price of $70 has a BLACK FINISH. To match your controller and your already existing play & charge kit, presumably?
But I'll check on that. At any rate, the Elite is an absolute suicide package and I recommend it to no one besides those with VERY special interests (unlimited downloading the only one withstanding).
Then do you ship because I need one. What's the name? Regular universals are not bluetooth, if it's a combo bluetooth and the regular signal that everything else works with I'll buy it.

This is going to sound stupid, but I'm glad I have the option. Rumble is terribly distracting and terriby uncomfortable, IMO. You don't have to share my opinion, but don't feel free to chastise my Sixaxis.

Which is the point of this thread.
The Dual Shock 3 is $55 instead of $50. That's Five dollars you spend on 360(And Wii for that matter) as well.

Yes, it's out of stock. It does come with a P&C, but you spend and extra $50 for that and a Halo Art job. IT's a ripoff.

But that goes against your whole point here. Your point was that why are lemmings complaining about an extra $5 for rumble. Your clearly having to pay more money to get the same experience as another controller. Plus you always have the option to turn off the rumble feature in any game, and I like having that option more than going completely without it.And the retort to that was when the controller "dies" for the PS3 that you have to replace the whole controller. (But honestly I don't see the controller dieing for a few years down the road with constant use)Which is the point of this thread.

You don't need the charge kit. I am sure most people already own a battery charger.Deihmos
You don't need it, but it's money that's going to be spent by Joe Sixpack. Most people do not own a Battery Charger however, if so prove it.
The Point is the DS3 is $55, but you spend that kind of money on the 360 controllers without knowing it.
The Biggest ripoff this gen though controller wise, is the Wii.
$40 for the Remote, and $20 for the Nunchuck which is needed for 95% of the games. If you need the abilty to play certain arcade games or GC games, that's more money you need to spend. Classic attachment which needs the Remote, is $20, aned the GC controllers are $25.
I haven't even got to the point of batteries that the Wii burns through...

How does that help? It's for the PS3 only. The problem is not that I can't find a remote, the Sony brand is everywhere, the problem is the PS3 does not work with 100% of universal remotes.Find a universal that supports both the PS3 and everything else I have, the closest thing I found was one called the Universal Gamer that claimed to work with it but does not have Bluetooth support so in the ad the PS3 was crossed out.
This has kind of been a thorn in my side since day one of ownership hopefully at some point Logitec will update the harmony sereis of remotes.

Well, that's a realistic point. But how long do that batteries last? Well, DS and GBA's use that setup and they last a long, long time. So, I would assume you would get more than a 2 years out of it.
Furthermore, Sony did say they would replace it for free, when that happens. But, in all honesty, not many people will take them up on that offer.

Yeah I thought about that but then thought to myself I'd rather have controllers cost $10 more then games. As one can only buy 4 controllers but one buys way more games.
$60 games are a rip off imo. Especially when superior PC versions cost less.
I'd rather use rechargible batteries for my 360 controller.
I actually want rumble for my ps3 so I'm a bit peeved that I have to pay freaking $55.
Relys
Well, it's not just any old rumble. IT's IMMERSION'S NEXT GENERATION RUMBLE. So, yo are getting a bit more than a simple feature you can find on other systems (i.e. PS2/360.)

If $60 is a rip off... Nintendo needs to be shot for charging $50 for the trash they put out... (not all the games mind you, but most of them).
btw. this is a nonsense argument.. If you have the 360 controller you basically have 3 options.. 1. buy the wired one and forget about wireless.. 2. Buy the wireless controller and purchase a battery charger (I picked up a duracell for $10) or 3. buy the play and charge kit.. Either way you're covered.
With the PS3 you have to buy the DS3 if you want to enjoy that feature in games... That screws over people who bought one over the last year and a half. However it's not the end of the world either. Most people paid $500+ for the PS3... I doubt an extra $55 will break their banks.
Can we all just get back on the point of this thread which is finding me a universal remote control that works with the rest of my A/V setup and the PS3.
Every time I set the sixaxis down the badly designed triggers that touch the ground set off the chapter search and it bugs the heck out of me.

No, Elite does not come with it.
This is funny coming from a Cow whos going to have to replace all his controlers for ones with rumble. Talk about milkage...Talk about milkage.

Good thing I only have Zelda TP, SMG, NMH, and MP3. All games that are worth $50.
I bought a battery charger for my digital camera. So I am covered.
I think the point people are trying to make is that now most will end up replacing their Six Axis controllers with DS3. It was said that Rumble in the Six Axis was impossible to make according to Sony. Now you have a controller that has done the so called impossible. Hence why people are probably claiming milkage.
I myself have not bought a PS3 yet. And when I did thankfully DS3 will be standard.

...and that's why I continue to wait on Sony to make up their damn minds about their product. I purchased the 360 a few months after it launched, and with the exception of the RROD(Damn M$ ), I've never looked back. Sony on the other hand keeps changing up their SKU's... And now you need the rumble controller.. well atleast for future games. I'll wait until late this year to purchase one...

You find my remote yet? Chop chop Gamestop guy.See this is what happens everytime with these PS3 defenses, I have this legit complaint about how poorly the PS3 is set up and there is no solution to the problem.
If the retail professional can't come up with a solution who can.
lol @ play & charge kit. I got the Quick Charge Kit. And soon I'll be getting the Pelican Charge Kit for my PS3. I don't like charging my controllers through my console. Defeats the purpose of wireless controls. I have to admit that I have to give it to the 360 with this one cause the Quick charge kit comes with a free battery. So if your battery dies while your playing you can just use the back up battery. (If you only have one controller).
Unfortunately i only have one PS3 controller right now so when I have to charge my PS3 controller i stop playing to let it charge cause trying to play from my console to my HDTV is a hassle. Waiting for the Dual Shock 3 before i get another PS3 controller. Once again, lol @ play charge kit.
