[QUOTE="doobie1975"]how about sony still charging 15 pounds for a 8MB PS2 memory card if we're on the subject of over price accessories.The_Crucible

How about MS still charging $170 for 120GB HDD. Or $49.99 for a 512 mem card. Or $100 on a wireless receiver. Or $50 for a 360 HDMI cable.

WE ALL GET MILKED PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!! Jesus.

[QUOTE="Riverwolf007"]

You guys can quit bumping this I sent the TC off looking for a universal remote that works with the PS3 about 14 hours ago and he's never been seen or heard from since.

Who in their right minds makes a remote for a Blu-Ray player that is incompatable with 100% (yes that's right 100%) of all other electronic entertainment devices on the market.

Sony does thats who.

I guess my only hope is for Sony to allow Logitec to one day update the awesome harmony series of remotes to work with the PS3 in order to not have the horribly designed sixaxis triggers that touch the ground(who thought that was a good idea lol) not set off the chapter search every time I set the controller down or everytime it gets moved.

The_Crucible

What a lmae point. Its becasue the PS3 uses blue-tooth technology that IR remotes won't work. If it was that big of a concern, I'm sure a 3rd part can make a USB plug-in for IR.

I'd much rather have the blue-tooth and no IR than to be able to use a universal remote. Cause guess what? When you normally get a benefit of a universal remote, you get to put all other remotes away. But in this case, YOU ALWAYS NEED YOUR CONSOLE'S CONTROLLER!!!

And the controller functions just fine for movies. I've been watching movies and video on my PS3 since I bought in 12/06. WITHOUT any IR remote. Thanks.

Yeah, we all know the heavy movie useage the PS3 recieves.

You can make sacrifices if you want to. I need a universal remote and Sony nor anyone else makes one. Every time something like this comes up the first solution for Sony fans is to say I'm just S.O.L. and to just accept it. Thanks for the help.

Sony made the PS3 incompatible with 100% of all universal remotes and that is what is truly lame. I have softend my position on many aspects of the disaster the PS3 has been so far but this one I'm not budging on, bluetooth is incompatible with every single other home entertainment device on the planet and your solution is to suck it up and accept it.

It's frustrating and laughable at the same time here is sony going on about being the future of entertainment and yet they can't get something as basic as including IR support on the state of the art Ps3, what a joke, and a joke played at my expense.

No, he's right. The charger plugs into the USB port on the 360. You can play XBox 360 games while it's charging. With the PS3 controller plugged into the USB port, you can't do anything while it's charging, unless you have a 2nd controller. Even if you could the PS3 charging cable is only about 2 feet long, so you would have to play with the PS3 on your lap. The extra $20 isn't just for the charging cable, it also comes with a battery pack as well. Considering the PS3 cost $600 compared to the XBox360 $400, the extra $20 wasn't a big deal to most people at launch.

It may be the point of this thread but that wasn't why I quoted you. You mentioned how he has to 'keep buying batteries whereas he doesn't' is a misconception. Just simply buy a rechargeable battery pack for $10 and your good to go for a few years.

I believe he was correct on the 360 half. It's called a 'Play AND charge kit' Not a 'Play THEN charge kit' It trinkle charges in small bits so that your controller never dies on you.

And my PS3 came with a controller.

Ownage either way is weak here people!!!! WE ALL GET MILKED!!!

The_Crucible

A controller that needs to be plugged in to be charged and you can't be more then 3 and a half feet away... Or your cord will pull out.

So if you sit back more then 3 and half feet like I do from a TV... You will need to buy a new remote or a longer cord, which gets in your way and is a trip hazard.

Dude, I ain't going in circles with you. (I can see it heading there).

I can charge my cPS3 ontroller on my PC when I'm not playing. That way, I never miss out on playing while waiting for a charge. And I don't care how long youre cord is, if you're plugged in to charge, you aren't wireless anymore, lame.

My point in brining up the controller was that I can play without buying anything else. The PS3 comes with a controller that can be charged various ways. Same with the 360. You can play with only the items that come in the box.

LOL... Stop with the excuses already PS3 remote is horrible. That's why it's already been upgrade and it's still lacking. Plus the fact when you buy a new PS3 remote it doesn't come with a cable to recharge is flat out retarted... No co-op games for me I guess.

When my remote dies... I cannot use it... The cable is to short... So I have to whip out my 2nd remote while the other is plugged in. That's a big inconvenience.

The whole point of this old topic is why you got milked by buying a play and charge kit. If your frugal you would go out and buy a rechargeable battery pack with charger for about $20.... And be able to use it not just with your 360 remotes but a whole variety of other things that use AA battery's.

Talk about milkage.

$20 to recharge your controller's battery, but somehow, a $5 surcharge on a controller with motion sensing+rumble is scream-worthy.

BobHipJames

Umm you know you don't have to buy the play and charge kit. AA batteries work just fine for the controller.

But See, with the Dual Shock 3, thats a $55 one time fee, rechargerable batteries dont last that long, you dont get that many rechager out of them, you might lose a battery, its a lot of different variables. Rechagerable batteries are just WACK...point blank.

So, a charger kit is the best way to go, dont front, everyone knows its the best way to go, in the long run its cheaper. So go ahead and pay that $20 to be raped, grand total...$70. When I had my 360, it was $50 for a controll a recharge kit and a extra battery (all 360 brand, I dont buy off brand stuff). When one controll got low, I would charger that one and go for the next. I spent like $80 total. $55 is not bad at all. The 360 fanboys are tired of getting raped and they want someone else to get turned out LOL

I have so many remotes and other things around the house that need AA batteries I just buy a surplus of them from Costco, it's something I need anyway so using them a controller doesn't feel like an extra cost. My wife got me the rechargeable pack for the controller anyway so I only need to replace the batteries for one controller that doesn't get a ton of use. Seriously why is this being made into such a big deal?

I think its silly that we must try to "pwn" each other on such things. ALL three consoles have "teh milkage." We all know it, there's no denying it. Its been the way of gaming for years. Things wear out. Technologies change. Companies come to their senses. Its all just part of the game (pardon the pun)

So, can we stop this bull-ish? Can we concede that we all are getting milked?

1. Your first paragraph isn't proof of any kind of bargain, you can lose or misplace anything "omgz I just lost my keys" - That doesn't stop you from having keys now does it? Your trying to extrapolate your reasoning for not owning something with "variables" that can apply to any possession that you own.

2. Everything uses a rechargeable battery genius, including the product that your defending...:|

3. I have G.E. batteries that are well over a decade old and they still hold a charge.

4. I can nitpicking fanboy just like you. Because the PS3s lithium Ion battery is internal, there is no way you can replace its battery should it need replacing. You'll have to try and mod it someway or spring for another 55$:o

It comes without one because you're not going to need it ;)

  • PS3: The Sixaxis died after about 19 hours and doesn't have an auto-off feature. The upside is that the controller recharges through USB connection to the console and doesn't require purchasing batteries.
  • Wii: The Wiimote lasted almost 37 hours, but depending on what games are played the rumble and audio within the controller can drain the battery faster. Although the batteries won't last as long, consider rechargeable batteries or the Nyko Wii-charge Station.
  • Xbox 360: Lasting almost 57 hours the controller was the winner in the battery life test. Just like the Wii, consider getting the first-party Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit to save cash in the long run.

DXGreat1_HGL

That's amazing , people actually have a reason to play a PS3 for 19 hours?...

So instead of buying a new Controller for $55 you buy a cable for $10. I think the Elite comes with the Play & Charge Kit.

mastarifla

Ding Ding Ding.... reason strikes again. Just to let you guys know, the play and charge kit is really just 2 AA batteries literally taped together, not even lithium ones either. Oh and if you want you can make the controller wired and take out the battery pack when your connected to the play and charge and it will still work. But to play devil's advocate, 3DO you know it does take quite awhile for the actual controller to "die", I wouldn't be surprised if it lasted a few years.

you're dead wrong .

Considering the PS3 cost $600 compared to the XBox360 $400, the extra $20 wasn't a big deal to most people at launch.

That's not true at all. You can still use the controller while it's charging. I do it all the time.

AH, You're spoiling all my fun.

I too, Charge while playing constantly, I have no idea why people are making stuff up at this point.
