I was not aware anyone was giving the PS3 guys hell over the $55 cost, however they should not.

The fact of the matter is it only $5 more than a standard wireless 360 controller and still cheaper than a Wiimote/Nunchuck combo.

Anyone who bought a PS3 was apparantly more than willing to go without rumble. Now if rumble is REQUIRED for a game, than I agree that is somewhat bogus of Sony. They were late to put rumble in so should not penalize early adopters

However, if rumble is just an added feature, something that is optional, there should not even be an argument.

As someone who pretty much classifies themself as a lemming (eventhough I also own a Wii), I love options. I love only buying into the features I want or need. No one is forced (as far as I know) to buy a DS3, that is just an option for people who want it. If they don't care about having rumble, they are perfectly capable to continue playing with the regular six axis that came with the system and or they bought.

The whole argument is trivial.

[QUOTE="OhSnapitz"] Sony on the other hand keeps changing up their SKU's... -Roger-Wilco-
MS aren't exactly innocent in that area either....

Theres a difference between MS strategy and Sony's....Sony made all of its changes in it's FIRST YEAR.

I want to interview someone who bought the original 20gb version that was released...but these people have been royally screwed in every way.

Has anyone done a search for AA battery chargers on ebay? We are talking like 4-5 dollars...how is this at all comparable to the 50+ that ps3 gamers need to spend for the new controller if they want the full experience that devs intend on delivering?

So instead of buying a new Controller for $55 you buy a cable for $10. I think the Elite comes with the Play & Charge Kit.

Then do you ship because I need one. What's the name? Regular universals are not bluetooth, if it's a combo bluetooth and the regular signal that everything else works with I'll buy it.

I gave up looking months ago so I have not seen if any new ones have come out.

Riverwolf007

http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-Blu-Wave-Remote/dp/B000R5H7KE

It's less expensive than the Sony brand....hooks up via USB, isn't Bluetooth....it's Nyko.

I stocked it myself on the PS3 accessories wall at Gamestop. You may have to look around though, as with all things third party and video-game accessory related. Then again, you've always got the above link to buy it from.

How does that help? It's for the PS3 only. The problem is not that I can't find a remote, the Sony brand is everywhere, the problem is the PS3 does not work with 100% of universal remotes.

Find a universal that supports both the PS3 and everything else I have, the closest thing I found was one called the Universal Gamer that claimed to work with it but does not have Bluetooth support so in the ad the PS3 was crossed out.

This has kind of been a thorn in my side since day one of ownership hopefully at some point Logitec will update the harmony sereis of remotes.

You find my remote yet? Chop chop Gamestop guy.

See this is what happens everytime with these PS3 defenses, I have this legit complaint about how poorly the PS3 is set up and there is no solution to the problem.

If the retail professional can't come up with a solution who can.

I'm telling you guys he's not coming back until he finds my PS3 universal remote and that will be never because it does not exist.

It's been forever since he ran off into google purgatory.

Talk about milkage.

$20 to recharge your controller's battery, but somehow, a $5 surcharge on a controller with motion sensing+rumble is scream-worthy.

BobHipJames

You can use the Xbox 360 controller and still play games while it's charging, which you can't do with the PS3. The PS3 also has charge kits for their controllers as well. If the battery in the PS3 controller completely dies, you have to open the whole controller to change it. At least the XBox 360 controllers do come with batteries so you can play right away without having to charge anything.

You are wrong.

Also, the ability you speak of, for 360, is an extra $20.

It's nicer than any other solution though as I was playing CoD online, and boom, my batts died. Luckily, the cord was handy, and presto, no Free Kills for my enemy. Once the round ended, I quickly got my other Battery from other other Play and Charge Kit (I own 2 Cables, and 5 Batteries, and I also own the Quick Charge kit.)

Why are some of you bragging for having the motion feature in the PS3 controller? I personally think it is total garbage . Its not worth the time trying to land your space ship on a landing pad via motion sensor. And also, the PS3 controller is so uncomfortable , the joystick rolls around smoother than the 360's , but the 360 controller blows the PS3's out of the water considering comfortability. I'm not being ignorant in any way , its my opinion after playing a PS3 over at my friends house. I don't know why this topic was made , and I don't know if my comment contributes to the topic at all , but I had that on my mind....And I think the Play and charge kit was well worth the money.

Yup, on the PS3 you don't need to buy a play and charge kit. Save the money for the HD cables you DIDN'T get.

Except the controller also takes regular AA's. You don't need the play and charge kit. Just use regular rechargables. And the play and charge kit comes with a battery when you do buy it. So it's not like you're only paying for the cable. I bought it more for the extra battery than the cable.

play and charge kits are sweet, the only problem is the batteries die in a year or 2, when it comes to charging, ps3 pwns 360s controller coz it has built in battery, only problem with ps3's charging is the wire is not long enough

It comes without one because you're not going to need it ;)

  • PS3: The Sixaxis died after about 19 hours and doesn't have an auto-off feature. The upside is that the controller recharges through USB connection to the console and doesn't require purchasing batteries.
  • Wii: The Wiimote lasted almost 37 hours, but depending on what games are played the rumble and audio within the controller can drain the battery faster. Although the batteries won't last as long, consider rechargeable batteries or the Nyko Wii-charge Station.
  • Xbox 360: Lasting almost 57 hours the controller was the winner in the battery life test. Just like the Wii, consider getting the first-party Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit to save cash in the long run.

so $20 for something that should have been included, or $55 for something that should have been included.

What M$ is doing does seem so bad in comparison.

I think its silly that we must try to "pwn" each other on such things. ALL three consoles have "teh milkage." We all know it, there's no denying it. Its been the way of gaming for years. Things wear out. Technologies change. Companies come to their senses. Its all just part of the game (pardon the pun)

So, can we stop this bull-ish? Can we concede that we all are getting milked?

Well Sony did save me from having to buy recharchable batteries since the PS3 controller has that built in.

Meanwhile ya gotta buy those seperately for 360 and Wii. Thats 30 bucks each if you want the really good chargers. (Play and charge sucks.)

I'm still missing why people are complaining about the DS3's price anyways. It lasts for at least a year and has motion sensing capabilities. $55 is completely justified-nobody's getting ripped off.

You could just buy your own rechargable batteries and use them on any product you want... even a Wii remote!
Or you could do like I do, and prefer using a wired controller because you can also hook them up to the PC. :)

You guys can quit bumping this I sent the TC off looking for a universal remote that works with the PS3 about 14 hours ago and he's never been seen or heard from since.

Who in their right minds makes a remote for a Blu-Ray player that is incompatable with 100% (yes that's right 100%) of all other electronic entertainment devices on the market.

Sony does thats who.

I guess my only hope is for Sony to allow Logitec to one day update the awesome harmony series of remotes to work with the PS3 in order to not have the horribly designed sixaxis triggers that touch the ground(who thought that was a good idea lol) not set off the chapter search every time I set the controller down or everytime it gets moved.

I bought a Quick charge and 2 battery packs when I got my 360 and never have to worry about batteries ever again.

Milkage is having to pay 55 bucks for a controller with a feature that Sony claimed was obsolete.

And all of a sudden 5 dollars is nothing but 5 bucks a month for live is a hardship. "Oh, but you are paying for something that's available for free", the cows will say about XBL...

Rumble was free on my 360 controller since launch.

What a lmae point. Its becasue the PS3 uses blue-tooth technology that IR remotes won't work. If it was that big of a concern, I'm sure a 3rd part can make a USB plug-in for IR.

I'd much rather have the blue-tooth and no IR than to be able to use a universal remote. Cause guess what? When you normally get a benefit of a universal remote, you get to put all other remotes away. But in this case, YOU ALWAYS NEED YOUR CONSOLE'S CONTROLLER!!!

And the controller functions just fine for movies. I've been watching movies and video on my PS3 since I bought in 12/06. WITHOUT any IR remote. Thanks.

How about MS still charging $170 for 120GB HDD. Or $49.99 for a 512 mem card. Or $100 on a wireless receiver. Or $50 for a 360 HDMI cable.

WE ALL GET MILKED PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!! Jesus.

170 for 120GB is absolute filth. I'd call it larceny, but there are people who pay it on purpose, I think. 50 for a 512MB card, is that true? 100 for a wireless receiver, but you can buy a bridge. 50 for an HDMI cable is actually less than you'll spend at some stores. Either way, 5 dollars online is far superior.
