Wii has sold the most out of any consoles in the shortest amount of time. Wii has most 3rd party support and all game developers want to make games for the Wii. The Wii has an endless amount of new possibilities which will give it the longest life span out of any console. As long as Nintendo keep bringing out stuff like "WiiFit", the Wii will keep on selling for many many many years to come.

Many people, not just gamers, own the Wii and apparently it's casuals that atribute to Wii sales the most. The problem is, Wii doesn't compare game-wise to the 360/PS3. Why look at the negatives when you can look at the positives... The Wii has solid 3rd party titles for this year... something the GC never had. Sure no GTAIV, but if I want to play it I'll play it on a secondary console... or just wait for the PC version...

I say 360 was a fad. PS3 isn't selling hot so I can't say if it is or not. lol The PS2 was a fad as well sort of....but it had good games so it can be excused.

Thing is though, what about the people who dont own a secondary console? And wii may have a couple cool 3rd pary games (no more hereos anyone?) but when you compare its 3rd party lineup to ps3 or 360s multiplats, you obviously see a diffrence (wii not getting big games comming to 360/ps3). But then again, 2008, thats a different story, if wii continues to sell (which most likely it will), we can expect good 3rd party games comming to wii.

Yes, I agree. Most of the big Multiplats this year either don't appeal to me at all, or are terribly over hyped.

Just think about the following:

By the time the Wii actually is on store shelves (most likely January next year) you will be able to get

SSBB

Mario Galaxy

Metroid

What this does is to get the hardcore base into the game once Wii is for sale everywhere finally. I know a TON of hardcore gamers that really do want Metroid and mario and SSBB, that do not have a Wii. If all those games are out first while the Wii is still sold out its all over for the other guys sorry.

On top of all that is already out. 3rd party or no the Wii is going to keep going and selling to just about everyone for a really good long while. Just a fad? Yeah ok kiddo keep telling yourself that.

(mind you i do own and love my PS3 and 360, but the Wii is my fav cause its different and gee people its about time.

They went in too underpowered. With Microsoft's Xbox 360 specs released a long time ago, and I'm not sure if Nintendo was privy to what the PS3's specs were, but they could've at least looked at the competition and maybe tried not to be so far behind. Now, they've closed themselves off to many games.

And then the sheep say, "Well we get games you can't have, like Soul Calibur Legends and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles." Meanwhile I'm laughing because those are precisely the games that make me laugh. :lol:

Anyone who says the Wii is a fad or that it will never have any good 3rd party support needs to take an economics 101 class. Virtually every important invention has been called a fad, planes, cars, cell phones, PC's, consoles, etc. all of them. Something doesn't become a fad until its popularity drops, and the Wii is still sold out where I live and I'm sure in other places around the world. The demand for a so-called "gamecube with a new controller" is sostaggering it could still be effectively sold out well into 2008.

This comes to the point about 3rd party support. I really hope you all already understand it but judging by the number of Wii-haters here I'll say it anyway; 3rd party publishers/developers go to the most popular console because of the larger userbase. The Wii is set to take the #1 sales spot by the end of 2007, and due to the apparent difficulties of developing for the PS3, the PS3+360 multiplat arguementisn't completely realistic. This means that theWii is going to be the most profitable system to develop games for, particularily because itshould be extremely easy to develop for.Also there is the little fact that Wii-haters tend to leave out, that both Ubisoft and EA have publicly appologized for their lack of commitment to the Wii. Now despite what some people here seem to think, you can't develop a game in 3 weeks, it takes usually around a minimum of a year depending on the type of game. So its going to take a little longer for EA and Ubi (and other 3rd parties) to develop for the Wii.

Your logic that there is no proof for Wii being a fad is good. I like it. I still see a distinct possibility it will become known as a fad, but I can't prove it.

As for devs going to consoles with the largest user bases. This is typically the case. The only point I have here is....they do that because that's where the most games will sell. Now, I have no way to back this up, but I see this asa possible problem for Wii. If Wii's user base is comprised mostly of ultra-casuals and even non-gamers, it might be reasonable to assume that at some point, they will lose interest. At very least, that they will stop buying new games. There is no real reason to expect them to stick around for the long haul, they never did before. The low price only further gauranteed that you'll get buyers who wanted to make the smallest investment possible. So...it might be the case that although there are alot more Wii's out there in 5 years, there will be less potential game sales among them than the other 2 consoles with smaller, more "dedicated" user bases. This might be especially true for certain types of games.

Again...not a fact....just "possible".

The DS lags behind the psp graphically just as much as the wii lags behind the xbox260 and ps3 in terms of power. The psp is a ps2 and the DS is a n64. Thats a whole gen behind.

But alas, in the real world power = nothing. IT's the games, the sales, the subsequent games that come from sales and all of it is tied together buy a new and interesting way to play games. Stylus/motion controls = all other consoles pawned.

See, these are all games comming to ps3/360 and not to the wii. These are real 3rd party games wii doesnt get. And as well the list i just named are exlcusive to ps3/360/pc and not one of these games are comming to the wii. I dont see how you can compare games like TNA impact to haze. True 1:1 would be a good start. Shaking the controller only to have your character do an entirely different motion does nothing for me. It might as well be a button press, and it would actually be more efficient.

Of course, real-life actions seem the benefitiary. But in truth it actually isn't a good idea. Zelda, for instance, swings his sword to your swinging and hits the enemy. Then you go for a second swing and the enemy blocks it with their weapon. Where would the Wiimote be? Where should the sword be? But most importantly how should a game comprised of such an ethic be playable? It's very difficult to get something like that working well and I personally don't blame any dev for leaving 1:1 motion out.

Sorry, I can't work out the logistics, that's Ninty or the dev'sjob if they're going to bring out motion sensing that is better thna using a gamepad. As it stands though, there is no reason why a random motion leading to another random action is better than just pressing a button.

And no, these games were nosupposed to be true to life....but the motion sensing should be...that is..if it's going to be quality motion sensing. Otherwise, why bother?

Understand this. Going by your logic the 360 and PS3 are just Fads, and every electronic item is just a Fad.

The fact that the PS3 and 360 has better games, but the Wii is outselling it just proves it cannot be a Fad.

If you are trying to say that PS3 and 360 are Fads which will last longer than the Wii Fad, that is a reasonable opinion.

All Consoles are Fads, some just last longer than others.
