GTA is a bad overrated series that does nothing innovative or interesting. Also there are many more multiplatform games for the system... I just used those as examples...

360 = 10 million in 2 years. That's pathetic, anyway you try to spin it.

PS3 = approx 5 million in slightly less than a year (don't kid yourself with that 6 million garbage...unless you're gullible).

Only hardcore gamers are buying this stuff. Wii just happened to hit the bigger market, and regardless of what you want to believe, it will pay off in the end, both for Nintendo and for 3rd parties.

Yes I admit, what I said there didn't make sense but by the definition of a fad everything is one and the Wii is one of the biggest ones. It's the one of the most popular items on the market.At the end I mostly was explaining Wii hate here. But to answer the TC's question, to a degree it did too much, but by alienating itself it stands out in the eyes of the casual crowd, especially with that price tag. Casuals sell the Wii. Sure the games are coming now, but it's not a question of quantity but a question of quality.

It's already been proven that shovelware simply doesn't work well for the Wii. Developers are working towards 3rd party support for the Wii. R* already has Manhunt 2 in the works along with porting over their Table Tennis game. EA has a whole studio dedicated for the Wii. Ubisoft, Capcom and others are also getting on board.

It's simple business economics, not "making a quick buck", the system that sells the most will have most of 3rd party support no matter what the hardware specifications. Face it, the PS2 was the least powerful console last generation, yes the NGC had better graphics potential, but still the PS2 sold the most and recieved the most 3rd party support.

The Wii is on track to sell the most consoles this generation, simple business economics will follow suit, 3rd party developers will make games for the highest selling console. Sure you'll have your standard port-ware from EA with Madden, Tiger Woods and the like, but even gamers are having fun with those on the Wii.

More games announced for the PS3/360/and PC? Who purchases the same game for each system? Where's Shivering Isles for the PS3? Even Knights of the Nine was FREE for the PC, want to take a guess which version of Oblivion I purchased? As a consumer ya gotta get the best bang for your buck, which is why I'll be purchasing GTA IV for the 360. Two exclusive expansions go a long way.

Impossible? It's a console, games are made for it. Sure, it's different, but as a console it can still be compared to other consoles. Is the DS exempt from being compared as a handheld because it's the first handheld that uses touch screen commands?

Did you forget Madden? Tiger Woods games? The Sims? Wii owners still have the opportunity to play multi-platform games. Not as many as the PS3 or 360 because there are some games that the Wii simply won't be able to handle or developers won't be able to implement the Wii Remote well. Remember the term "shovelware" you used earlier? ;) And those games that won't be able to be ported to the Wii will be made up for with Nintendo first party games.

Being different is a double-edged sword. On one hand, if Nintendo stayed close to the competitors, they wouldn't have sold as many game consoles, and 3rd-parties would have ignored them anyway, much like the GCN, since it was comparable in power as the other two competitors but lacked support anyway. By being different, they also prevent 3rd parties from directly porting multi-plat games.

Either way, I can't imagine 3rd parties really supporting Nintendo to their fullest. It's a great thing that Nintendo themselves make such excellent games, and is the main reason I will always support their consoles.

With Microsoft's Xbox 360 specs released a long time ago, and I'm not sure if Nintendo was privy to what the PS3's specs were, but they could've at least looked at the competition and maybe tried not to be so far behind. Now, they've closed themselves off to many games.

thats the truth of it developers can afford to to make next gen multiplatform games for both PS3 and 360 without too much trouble the similar specs allow that, the wii on the other hand being so underpowered in comparison along with its diffrent control scheme takes alot more work to get the same multiplat 360 and ps3 titles your looking at complete re-workings in reality this is costly when youve already developed it for next gen consoles, add in the fact that right now pretty much nintendo are the only company to get decent sales from wii titles and you have a definate case of alienation
