Looks like DF clearly displays their bias against the PS3 here. lol. Okay, I lied Sony drones. Sorry to get your hopes up. But they did look at the new patch for Skyrim. And they conclude the patch hasn't made much of a difference at all. Guess PS3 owners should just get the PC version, or at the very least, get the Xbox 360 version. Quit torturing yourselves.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-vs-ps3-skyrim-lag

-

"So has the new patch improved performance? Yes, it has benefited, with the aforementioned 20FPS baseline being raised to something closer to 25 on average. However, the root cause of the stuttering - whatever it may be - is still there and the potential for zero frame refreshes per second is still a possibility, leading to some very unwieldy controller response and an extremely poor gameplay experience in general. To all intents and purposes, this updated version of Skyrim on PS3 is still unplayable for those with a huge time investment in the game - unless you're only willing to play Skyrim in half-hour bursts, saving and restarting the game. Hardly ideal."

-

"The PlayStation 3 is unfortunate in that it's the platform with the most oppressive RAM issues (in addition to the split-pool set-up of the memory, the OS has a larger footprint than its 360 equivalent) so it makes sense that it has the most noticeable issues."

-

"Overall it's clearly disappointing that these performance issues persist on PS3 even after patch 2.01. The way in which Bethesda addressed the 360's texture streaming issue gives us hope that the company is aggressively chasing problems but the fact that this issue hasn't been resolved with its first attempt clearly casts doubts over whether an absolute fix is possible."

Sucks :[ Friend plays on PS3 and also had a quest-breaking glitch. I've been very fortunate in that my 360 version has been running extremely smoothly so far.

Game isn't finished, of course it'll need more than a patch like that.

That depends if you deem getting fps below 20 as unplayable...

So how did this game manage to score well on PS3 in the first place?

Nearly unplayable, ugly, buggy mess >>>> Skyward Sword?

Wow, thankfully I get to play with the game fully maxed out and a constant 60 FPS. Sometimes it does dip to the lowly 40s :(. Couldn't imagine a framerate under 10 lmao.

Because game reviewers would have to of spent a multitude of hours on the PS3 version in order to attain the save game performance issue, and considering the vast majority of reviews were just copy-pasta of the 360 version... it's not surprising this didn't come to light until after PS3 gamers put a lot of time into Skyrim. Another positive point for video game journalism.

I call BS, simply because the game would have crashed long before reaching 10 hrs of consecutive play. I doubt the PC version could go that long without a crash.

Yet alone a framerate of 0. "It's the first time our performance analysis tools have ever recorded a 0FPS reading."

lol Maybe I didn't word my post well enough. I'm calling BS on Tykains post, not yours. And yes I do play Skyrim along with most other multiplats on a PC that is simply overkill for most games that exist.

And yes, even though Skyrim looks and runs great on my machine, it still randomly crashes from time to time. You can not honestly say that Skyrim can be played for 10 hrs straight w/out crashing.

I don't get what causing the problem really. Apparantly you can be in a town full of NPCs and action without any problem but with a big save file there's really low FPS even without any action at all!! My point is that Bethesda can't fix this by simply reducing the resolution. This is more like a bug than a real performance issue. Should be an easy fix but they're pretty lazy it seems.

I'd love to know how. I'm running the game on a rig similar to the one in my sig, (swap the Quadro for a 580 and subtract 12gb ram) and I cant play for more than 3 hrs without a crash.

That depends if you deem getting fps below 20 as unplayable...

There is ocasional fps drops, that's it. It's occasional, not frequent and doesn't have any impact on the gameplay (Before the patch it was nearly unplayable after a while tho,). It can be annoying when you notice it, sure, but so is the screen tearing on the 360 version. In either way it's not unplayable by any mean.

I am so sick of DF and their bias, they always bash the PS3 version constantly fo any game. They never say anything good aboutit, but I guess lemmings need somone to make them feel more better about their multiplats because that's the only thing they have now. I could just as easly pull out N4G comparisons that say the PS3 is better, but do I? No because their biased, just like DF.

All I can say is that I have well over 50 hours into Skyrim with a 11 MB save file and no issues so far, there was a quest bug but the upddate fixed that. So DF can kiss my ass and so can all the fanboys that believe it. I know what the truth is.

Give me a break; Neither DF or Beyond 3D are biased on multiplat comparisons at all, nor do they bash PS3 too often. If that were true, then they would've said something like "360 wins with all multiplats."

Link.

And that list is one of the reasons why I chose to have a Xbox 360 for this gen. You just happened to buy the wrong console for most multiplat games.

Skyrim crashes me to the desktop almost every hour on my PC, like if its trying to tell me I should go outside or go to sleep or something. Of course it does run fine otherwise, no big FPS issues like I used to get on the Fallout games for PS3.

Considering how well Oblivion ran on PS3, I wonder why Bethesda doesn't just get whoever made that port to help them out, unless Skyrim really is severely limited by the split RAM.

DF is definitely biased against PS3, like in their latest Saints row 3 face off the PS3 version is superior in more ways than 360 (free Saints Row 2, better performance, zero screen tear, etc) But they tried to make a big deal about the PS3's Quinxtuc AA saying that alone makes both version pretty equal lol (despite them saying that QAA worked very well for that type of game)

I don't care, PS3 multiplats are just fine frlm my exprerience. The differences are hardly noticible, but again what do you know, it's not like you have ever evenplayed on PS3.

I bought the right console with exlusives and multiplats, you bought the wrong console for excluisevs ;)

Have a nice day....

[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"][QUOTE="Tykain"]I have played Skyrim on PS3 for up to 10 hours at a time without saving and restarting and no issue whatsoever. But yeah, it's unplayable right ? Wiimotefan

That depends if you deem getting fps below 20 as unplayable...

I call BS, simply because the game would have crashed long before reaching 10 hrs of consecutive play. I doubt the PC version could go that long without a crash.

I have had 3 game crashes in over 150 hours on the game, they all were post patch too. I have had glitches here and there, but not that many crashes (for a Bethesda game anyways...).

I've only had 2 crashes in 92 hours ive played Skyrim (one was right after the latest patch) :)
