well a noob squadleade affects less players than a noob comander and if it like BF:BC people can just leave his squad and join a nother, if its the commander thats a noob you either have to leave the server or hope he would be kicked in a vote, so i cant se what people are crying about..

Actually, a friend of mine and I were talking about this. He is a total BF2 freak. He had a good point in that often times good squad leaders overcame a bad commander. If you have bad squad leaders, then your screwed. The commander would get voted, but good squad leaders could figure out what to do on their own and how to support each other. The big question is, without a commander, how are the squad leaders going to coordinate? They cant issue orders to each other. It basically means back to BC2 and next to no squad coordination.

I don't know about you guys, but is anyone getting sick of FPS in general? I mean, it's like every game I played is a COD copycat. I played Halo 3 & Halo Reach here and there and yes, I know it's not a COD copycat, but even the Halo games gets boring after 2 matches online. The only FPS I enjoyed from this year in 2011 is Crysis 2 and even that got me kinda bored quick along with it's Mediocre online like every other COD copycat (and COD itself). I don't know, I guess I'm more into RPG's, Wrestling games, and other Genres nowadays.

I applaud your internet speed.

mitu123

Thanks but right now I only have 10mb up and 10 down because my Internet provider change the fee with out telling me and I'm still waiting for them to change it back, as I told them I would pay the extra cost. Its still pretty cheap only 63$ (thats with 25% sales tax we got here in Denmark) a month for a 70/70 connection :)

Thought I would ask. Does anyone have a link to an authentic source that says there is no commander in BF3? I assumed this was a factual discussion, but cant seem to find anything online but one forum post after another.

yea he got a point there.. maybe they will implement some sort of basic communication, like a squad leader could point out a defensive or attack tactic to his squad( like what you can do with M-com stations in rush and flags in conquest) and it would tell the other squad leaders what his team was going to do. Well that's just speculation and wish full thinking on my part. :P

But I remember that there was nothing worse than a commander in BF2 that didn't drop supplies to you or only dropped supplies to his Buddy's in his clan. :)

Just like a lot of people in here, I too wish they would make the game more like its predecessor. No other first person shooter franchises get hate for it.

Yea it gets worse and worse for me :(. Annoying animations, less destruction from what I am seeing, and the piss poor 2142 class system are just a few things I am not liking.

PS, quit telling people they aren't true fans of **** It's just lame.

millerlight89

We've known about the classes since E3, and perhaps DICE found a balance flaw in RPG's taking out walls in metro. It's alpha, calm down.

An easy solution to the radio spam problem is to not have the radio spam. You know, how spotting dudes work in BC2. Either don't have the audio cue, or only play it when it's within a certain radius of the player. They could also do nifty context sensitive messages. "Enemy infantry on your six!" and such.

The problem with the Commander, according to DICE, is that it's just one person out of 32 who gets access to all these tools. Distributing them amongst the team gives more players more options. I think squad leaders having access to UAV's and vehicle drops would be a decent way of distributing those tools.

I think there's room for an overseeing role too though. But I don't know if anyone would be interested in just watching a satellite feed, relaying orders, waypoints and coordinating squads. Especially on public servers where you can't rely on people actually following your orders, or the Commander actually knowing what he's doing. It's a cool and unique position in a game like this though.

As much as I enjoyed commander I have always agreed with the statement that it has been to much power for one player. I've seen one player ruin the game for the other 31 players on the team far to often to see how it could be fixed properly.

Yes it is, and my guess is thatmore than just Destruction is scaled back. they probably reduced a lot of things because its performance testing. So they can gauge how well it works on home systems and can modify it for the beta

I never played BF2 but the commander system really does sound like it had some flaws. And that would P*** me off if I had a bad commander. It was a good decision to omit it that way and just have squad leaders instead in my opinion

The latest official video of BF3 has tons more graphical detail than the leaked alpha. It's really noticable in my opinion. Then again I've been known to be blind before.
