In terms of entertainment, games actually replace books for me.
In terms of information gathering, i am very cautious to keep my mind open to possibilities, and not let it be narrowed down by someone elses view. Hence i don't like reading books very much, only when i'm in a very controlled state, in the realization that whatever the book tells me, is actually what i'm telling myself, creating the experience of reality as i go.
Rarely, i do read some books that way. Always informative books, mainly about mind control or mental shifts.
I still have some work to do on my point of view before i could make good use of something as external as books to guide me.
Don't think this goes here, but uh, anyway:
- House of Leaves
- Guns, Germs, and Steel
Slashkice
I finished House of Leaves a while ago and just picked started Only Revolutions, Mark Z. Danielewski is great. I have also read the first 3 books to George R.R. Martins a Song of Ice and Fire a while ago those were also great. Reading is great!
I read sometimes. But most of my free time is spent playing games.
I'm currently reading 1984. Before that, I read Fountainhead.
My favorite books are those in the Hitchhiker's series.
You mean garnering information from paper with little to no high definition graphical representation or digital audio? Blasphemy!
I a bit fan of Blizzard Books, Tam Clancy books, D&D books, Dragonlance boooks.ArisShadows
Thats cheating.
I do as well. I'm currently reading:
I'm also slightly reading a book called God is not Great by Christopher Hitchens, but I'm not thinking it's going to be worth my money to actually purchase it. The preface is one of the worst thought-out pieces of literature I've ever read. The only reason I would think about continuing the reading is because I'm interested to see what his point is.
This is SW material how?
I'll make it SW material. Reading books is a better way to spend time than playing video games.
Read books?
I devour books, in a manner of speaking. Right now I'm chewing my way through Macbeth and the works of H.P. Lovecraft, and I have Beowulf, Canterbury tales, and some others waiting for me when I'm done. After that I guess I could always read more Anton Chekov, I'm a big fan of his writing.
Anyway, it's rare for you to ever find me without reading material or a controller in my hands.
books are so 19th century..... now books on CD is 21st century tech. why read when you can listen and not stare at pages and pages of text?theshadowhunter
Personally, I absolutely hate looking at/listening to digital books.

WoT is awesome. I've read the first 4 books, but I'm now waiting for the series to finish before reading the rest.
If you have read "The Malazan, book of the Fallen" by Steven Erikson, then you'd know where my name comes from. Anyway, that's what I'm currently reading, I'm about my 3rd time through. I'm also reading "Dark Lord", but the authors name eludes me at the second.
Green Eggs and Ham. Definantly deep and philosophical beyond belief.

You must have missed the news - Robert Jordan died two weeks ago. He didn't get to finish the final book.

I disagree. Green Eggs and Ham is the greatest piece of literature ever.
Coincidentally...it's sitting on my desk right now. I'm not kidding.
