Do lemmings justify backwards compatibility because they have no exclusives?

Which exclusives? Because I'm playing most on my pc.

They don't need to "justify" backwards compatibility. It's objectively a good thing for consumers. It's one of the best parts about PC gaming. I think people focus too much on graphical horsepower debates when it comes to PC vs consoles.

Now, Lems may talk it up more than they use it, and/or bring it up to "fluff out" their library numbers when sparring with cows. That's possible. But it's a legit pro for the XBox platform in my opinion

Nah, we just like Free BC as an option., thank you MS.... Others tho seem to love to rebuy games they already own. Weird I know. :P

It’s really just a nice pro consumer feature to have. The games look really good on the Xbox One X and it gives publishers the ability to give something to the gamers when they purchase sequels on the current gen.

Yeah, it's not like people were scrambling for OG PS3's with full BC. I had one and loved it. People will always play what they prefer, and people are loving the BC. Let's not forget that the Xbox also gets a multitude of current-gen multiplats.

Backwards compatibility is very useful. I am fine with ports too but backwards compatibility is excellent. It just makes playing the games you want easier.

Eh, it's the same as what they do to the Xbox. They just make up the whole "Xbox has no games". It can be made up for both sides.

Problem is for the Bone, its true.

Exclusive problem as of now is real for Xbox but backwards compatibility should be on every gaming console.Its pro consumer.

PS5 will be backward compatible with PS4...here I called it.

Pretty much this. I think backwards compatibility is awesome. I love checking out some older games I may have missed out on or didn't quite fully get into back in the day but I can now.

I would like Playstation to do this; love to check out Legend of Dragoon, Twisted Metal, etc.

Since being able to play on your pc kinda negates the "exclusiveness"

I care about BC...

I also care about ground up games built for the system I own for the current generation...

As a gamer I appreciated both, but I would never have purchased a PS4 just to play old PS2 and PS3 games in high res.

Games built for the current generation will always outweigh games for the prior generation when it comes to arguments of better "current gen" systems.

Xbox One's BC is great, but it's lack of AAA current gen games is quite unforgivable.

It’s really sad Sony brainwashed their consumers training them to not care for and it looks like not want backward compatibility for their current consoles and even future consoles. But instead to pay a subscription for something like PSNow, if you want to play your old games on newer PlayStations instead. Since these Sony fans don’t like old games, they pay more to get less because since they hate old games they don’t download the PS3 games offered in PS+.

Not only Xbox offers free backward compatibility, these games are offered with Gold and they even enhances them free of charge. While Sony fans are forced to buy the remasters of remastered to experience any type of enhancements of their old games lol. And for someone who claims they're an inclusive gamer, why are you painting backward compatibility as a bad thing especially when something like the PC thrives with BC, and spread a false narrative Xbox doesn’t have exclusives lol. Can’t wait for Sony to announce BC and see the hypcowcrics in action, it’s going to be funny fun.

Xbox will never have "exclusives" ever since they unified with Windows for some time now; people expecting "exclusives!!" from Xbox at E3 like it's ONLY going to be on Xbox is a bunch of bull. People should know whatever "exclusive" they announce will also be on Windows. That is how it's going to be and how it has been since the Xbox Play Anywhere took effect. NOW in terms of consoles; then you have "console exclusives" because the next Forza or Halo will not be on the Switch or Playstation.

If they are so keen on cross play they should release them on PS4 and Switch. But i'm guessing Sony won't allow them to bring the games. Not sure about Nintendo, they might be down for that.

I love enhanced BC. Also, playing games like Skyrim (Enhanced) as shown me how little gaming has evolved in the past 10 years.

That being said, it's still a stop-gap for lack of new games.

BC is a feature that justifies itself if done properly. Thread seems like a bad attempt at a stealth jab.

Why does playing older games on your current gen console need to be justified? It is what it is. You get to play your older games. Don't see how you can twist it as a bad thing.

This ^^^. When you a fanboy you find reasons to justify your purchase. This is why they spend so much time hating on systems they don't own or supposedly don't care about.

As a game collector, yes I like that the X1 has backwards compatibility. Eventually The original Xboxes, PS2's, and N64's will die out. It's nice knowing a new machine can play some of the older games.

I already have a retron 5 and a super retro trio to play my old cart games, I got them after I had to get the power port repaired on my old Sega Genesis.

No. It’s a great feature to have. All gamers should want to have this supported on their system of choice.

As opposed to have streamed games for BC?

In the future you will be streaming all of those old games for less than $10 a month. Don't know what the issue is.

Because I like having the physical games on the shelf. I enjoy the experience of opening up a game case and putting it into the console. And in some cases, games play better on the original hardware than emulation through streaming.

And Licensing issues can keep some games from being streamed or re-released on a collection set.
