Do true hermits even exist anymore?

Or do all you other PC gamers own at least one console as well?

Someone just pulled the whole "lulz poor hermits u get no exclusive AAAAAAEEEE games", and it made me laugh.

As if there's such a thing as a hermit who can afford a gaming PC, who couldn't afford a crappy, under powered console if they really want a particular exclusive.

hermit, lemming, cow, sheep are all fanboy names. It's about what system they support, doesn't matter if they own more than one system. That's why people who claim to be manticores just because they own all the systems are wrong

BUT, I'm still debating on whether to get a PS4 or not.

I can't play video games without a mouse and keyboard unless it's NBA 2k. I don't play racing sims.

I haven't owned a console since the Sega Megadrive.

Funnily enough, when I was more serious about my gaming was actually also when I was most likely and most tempted to buy a console. These days, as I'm more relaxed and casual about my gaming, my attitude is; "well, this serves my needs well enough, why do I need more?"

@Jebus213: I picked up the pro just for like 4-5 games, and needless to say, pretty unimpressed. Will probably just sell it after I'm done with them.

I've always mainly been a console gamer with PC gaming being more in the background. Usually only played shooters, crpgs, and a few other games on PC.

Pretty much pulled a 180 this gen since PC gets almost everything now, but yeah, I still buy consoles for the occasional good exclusive. Can't go without Nintendos stuff, and I'd rather not miss out on some of those 3rd party games Sony gets.

Yeah, it's funny. My PCI SSD alone cost more than the X1X with a few full priced games. Shit, my chair costs more than that lol.

Does the PSP count? I got one for x-mas when I was 14 years old. But I only played like 3 games on it lol.

I think most people here use consoles to at least play exclusives.

I wouldn't brag about it though - and I certainly wouldn't defend the manufacturers heh. That's just crazy.

So, hypothetically speaking of course, if one were to game on PC for everything except 4-5 console exclusives per generation, and felt like they needed to take a cleansing shower each time to get the stink of console peasantry off...... that = Hermit then?

Yeah I bought a PSP to play Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops back when it came out. Probably my worst gaming purchase ever, the game was trash. Ended up selling the PSP right after that. (though I really should have kept it for emus)

Basically a fraud who pretends to be a pc gamer but actually barely plays games.

Having said that, one of the lulzest things ever is watching a PC Gamer boast about a better console port, of a genre that was once inherently PC focused.

Or a PC Gamer who boasts about pc games, then just steals games, then complains when they get riddled with DRM, then rails against DRM thinking they are Robin Hood or something.

Or a PC Gamer who pretend games aren't console focused.

Or a PC Gamer who pretends Metro isn't just Call Of Duty underground, with linear scripted movies directly taking Call Of Duty's DNA.

Or a PC Gamer who gets upset when god-tier graphics PC game actually doesn't look that good compared to a console game with much better presentation on lower specs.

Or pc gamers who desperately seek validation by waving some spec, some tiny little bit of hope in peoples faces to feel good about being superior, when most folk don't care, and reality will probably end up being very different.

True fanboys don't even really exist en masse. Most people actually game on almost everything (or find a reason to), even if they have a favorite platform. PC just happens to be the oldest, therefore its "fanbase" actually has dabbled in many platforms.

Weird as it may seem, I've bought a lot of gaming platforms for a single game and it usually works out. I usually really enjoy the game, and then other games I enjoy tend to follow.

But that was at a time when I thought Kojima would never allow such a shitty MGS game, guess I was naive lol. Who could have guessed that the follow up to MGS3 could be so bad?

To be fair, all of those games are a big nope for me. Even when I tried Peace Walker on my buddies PSP I just couldn't do it. Though I did enjoy the game later when they bundled it with MGS HD. Game was much better with a clean image on a big screen and a real controller.

2 PCs, two 4k screens, you tell me. Any ps4 exclusive id care for (nier automata, ff15, ff7) are all coming or on PC so...........dont really need a console.

I bought PS4 3 years ago and I have regretted it ever since because honestly it could do just fine without console exclusives. PC has so many games now that a life time won't be enough to play them all.

But yeah "manticore" status on this site is bogus, it's just another way for people who have a certain alliance to hide it by claiming to be remain neutral because they own all systems.

Back on topic. I just think these SW terms are just plain old silly now. It is very hard to ignore other gaming devices nowadays cause well, some of use still buy a console just to play a certain exclusive games such as myself, despite I primary game on my PC, I still buy other console games just to play exclusive that will NOT come to PC if ever.

I agree what lostrib said, the term Manticore just makes it easy on everyone who still buys consoles despite we love our PC the most.

I have been playing both PC games and console games all my life. I love games and want to play them the best way possible. I have always preferred PC because of the performance, versatility, customization, and overall quality. I can use whatever input device is best for a particular game and output to whatever display I want. Consoles are redundant and I only buy them for exclusives.

Somebody who plays games only on PC? Yeah for sure.

The PC is a platform with copious amounts of support. I could totally understand why someone would feel fulfilled gaming exclusively on PC.

Not me, however. I like to try many systems and I typically like to have at least one portable gaming system too.

@i_p_daily: Just to clarify things. There is nothing wrong criticising Nintendo, Sony or even MS if you are a Manticore. I know you see me calling out MS here and there when it comes to poor choices, but that doesn't mean I hate MS, hate is a strong word I don't use at all. SolidTy is a Manticore and yes, he may seen like a Sony fanboy to you but that doesn't mean he hates MS when he bashes them. The guy owns all current-gen consoles as do I.

I for one play games for fun, whoever has that game in the brand I see interesting, I'm buying it whoever has it when it comes to exclusive games.

I'm like 80% Nintendo and 20% PC gamer right now. This changes frequently.

I own the consoles as well. They don't get a lot of my playtime, except for exclusives.

I don't think true Hermits ever really existed. Hardcore fanboys are usually people who can't afford or don't get gifted more than one system per gen. The average PC gamer usually can afford other system if he wants to.

If you take me for example: I would love for Playstation and xBox to end, they are nothing more than horrible weak PCs that hold games captive as exclusives. But hey, I still just buy the systems to be able to play those games. (I do think Nintendo has a reason to exist though. The Switch has at least something that sets it apart from a "horrible weak PC").

Does that make me a hardcore PC fanboy? Probably not ^^

You dont need to add Nintendo in there if you get what i mean nor X1. The only console captive exclusives to PC is PS4.
