Poll Do you care anout Japanese support on Xbox One? (78 votes)

Yay 36%
Nay 64%

It's kind of worrying how many titles the Xbox One is missing out on, the recently announced FF XII Zodiac Age is skipping the bone as well, just like most other Japanese games. We all know it will come to PC down the line as well, so damn, what ups with this? PC keeps getting way more Japanese support than a console? Granted the Xbox was never a bastion for Japanese gamers and given the fact that even the Wii U destroys it in sales, it's not surprising that the Xbox One is greatly falling behind in scores and sales world wide.

Well, as an Xbox One gamer, do you care about Japanese support? PS4 is killing it, PC is catching up with lightning speed and the Wii U does pretty well thanks to Ninty, so what do you say Xboners of SW? Japanese support yay or nay?

PS: I already know some lem is going to try to spin this, yes we all know the Xbox One is getting Final Fantasy XV, yes it got Dark Souls III as well and it also got Metal Gear Solid V, congratulations on this extreme showing of diversity in the gaming space.

I don't own an Xbone, but I doubt many of those guys care. I don't think the audience is really there for it. 3 gens in I'm sure that most people know to buy anything but an Xbox if a steady stream of Japanese titles is your thing.

They'll get the biggest mainstream Japanese releases and that's about it.

Expecting steady Japanese support on the Xbox makes about as much sense as expecting big 3rd party titles on a Nintendo console at this point.

20 million people still bought a MS machine that performed worse then the Sony machine. I think people are going to switch if the Scorpio is stronger. Neogaf has a thread about the Scorpio and the thread has 157 pages already. Neo talk is nonexistent really. American gamers will jump back to xbox with huge numbers.

I want more interesting games on that machine, so sure, it be nice if that machine got some Japanese support. Scalebound happens to be the thing I'm looking forward to the most on that machine, a lot of my favorite games ever happen to be Japanese.

I remember MS stating that they are committed to Japan during when Xbox One was still in development but the question is, is Japan committed to you MS!

For me personally, I don't care if Japan does support MS at this point, the Japanese has already spoken, (well very few do support MS) they look at the sales, the Xbox One isn't selling well over there, so they turn to Sony's PS4 as the lead console of choice and let's face it, MS Xbox 360 was a one hit wonder for Japan and still is the one and only Xbox console to sold $1 million units to this day. I'm sorry but PS4 has more JRPG games, MS needs to understand that no one wants Shooters over there. End of story MS.

Edit: Also OP that title: Do you care anout Japanese support on Xbox One? Change it to about.

It doesn't bother me personally, since I don't really play Japanese games often, but it'd be good if Xbox got more Japanese love overall.

Yeah, nevermind the whole spat about wanting to take your rights as a consumer away or the fact they continue to close studios and shut down what little games they actually do have. Ya'll are going to bang away cluelessly at another hopeless marketing point for the next year just like you did with backwards compatibility.

Closed Studios like who Lionhead? Sony closed the Studio that made Driveclub and lost the Studio that made Order 1886. You don't have to own studios to have games for your console.

Seas of Thieves, Halo Wars 2, Recore, Scalebound, Crackdown are all new games announced. Quantum Break just released. Xbox has more then enough games i have not even included Gears 4 or Forza.

It's actually directed by some Metroid Prime cats, so it is western, Inafune is just producer.

So while Inafune is scum, I'd like the cat that directed Metroid Prime to fucking nail it with Recore. Besides we don't really get proper action/adventure games anymore.

I remember early in the gen when xbox fanboys were saying "japan doesn't matter" and now their last chance at a good game this entire gen is japanese developed. Man these guys really make fools of themselves.

As for this thread If you bought an xbox for anything other than Halo, Forza and blind patriotic support for MS because of the fact that they are an American company then you goofed.

What lost? You only play that game on xbox one or on PC .. I have hard time understanding this argument. It will make even less sense if the Scorpio is a real thing. Why would you choose a PC over xbox then?

Yeah but the main character in scalebound looks very strange and unappealing to me kind of like the sunset overdrive character.

I just don't like the tape player and the headphones I don't myself like headphones at all, he looks like hes in a boyband or something.

And i haven't seen any gameplay for recore Is it and indie a AAA I just don't know what it is. The characters in that look odd it might not be up my alley.

Games like FF7 Remake and Horizon look like games I want to play the characters look great the gameplay looked good.

The Xbox ONe's I just don't know if they're good or for me.

some people dont like japanese games. most jrpgs use outdated mechanics and/or have hamfisted stories/bad translation and not being an anime fan I dont feel like I'm missing much.

The Xbox 360 tried to cater to the Japanese with an array of exclusive games and ports (especially able to grab timed exclusives), but it was largely ignored due to being seen as a Western system. Folks on SW showed a lot of love for the exclusive JRPGs (Tales of Vesperia, Blue Dragon, Enchanted Arms, Star Ocean, Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, etc), and they were received well critically. I don't think they sold particularly well, but I can't really recall specific numbers. Needless to say, a healthy amount of resources were dedicated to Japan last generation and Microsoft came up extremely short in that particular region.

So, basically, I'm indifferent about Japanese support. I don't play JRPGs though, and the ones I have played (like Tales of Vesperia) were incredibly mediocre; different strokes for different folks.

Xbox 360 was successful as it was because it appealed to dev's all over the world.

XB1 mainly west AAA focus really is handicapping it compared to the PS4 which branched out to japan and smaller indies.

XB1 library is much smaller and it shows, ive stopped playing on my xb1 entirely they need to get there foot on the ground and start making some game deals. Theres no excuse for FF7 remake or rocket league to have been 1 year exclusive or whatever there IS no more excuses. Sony is opening the wallet now its your turn microsoft.

If I had one I'd care. For a few reasons.

One, it might spur the console to a great success to get Japan on board which will bring in even more developers. (Which isn't going to happen.)

Two, I get more games and a greater variety of games.

So yeah, if I had an Xbox One I'd want more support from Japan. But if I was counting on that I wouldn't have bought an Xbox. It's just the way it is.

Yes. I want ms to do more exclusive partnerships. With ms's money and a Japanese devs vision, the potential is boundless. Lost odyssey and tales of vesperia were among my favorite jrpgs that gen. I also like Eternal Sonata but that later came to PS3 in the west.

Sometimes it's easier to make generalizations than to willfully acknowledge the current state of affairs.

Does he own an XB1, judging from his posts I suggest not. So why make a thread about something that he cares nothing about other to try and make some big deal about the games the XB1 isn't getting, and to try and validate his decision on buying a PS4.

I'm all for Xbox owners asking questions about the XB1 and why it's missing this game or that game or whatever, but at least you would know they are genuine questions coming from a genuine XB1 owner. Not this type of boring SW fodder from a person who doesn't own one.

Why do you even care about consoles, shouldn't you stick to playing on PC especially after your shit posting in this thread

Or is it a different day so you post with a different personality?

Not worried, there's enough Japanese game support for my satisfaction. I'm more into the smaller scope games like Raiden V, Strider, D4(which I have not even finished yet), haven't been interested in (traditional)JRPG for a long time. I like to play them here and there, Scalebound looks decent. I have not even finished Lost Odessey on the 360, never got past the 1st disc if memory serves me right, so couldn't care less about FF12 especially since that game is the reason I lost interest in FF series....well that and FF13. I probably will not even get FF15, and I was a huge fan of FF games when I was younger.

Current limited support is sufficient for my tastes.

edit: i meant ffx 2 not ff12 my bad

I have a pc that will play most of them. if enough come out for Ps4 only then I will buy a Ps4 to play those, I actually hope that will happen because I really want to play UC4 but cant justify buying a Ps4 for 1 game.
