Poll Do you feel like Nintendo is back? (101 votes)
What do you guys think? They've been firing on all cylinders. Getting back 3rd party support, constantly pumping out games each month. New games caught me off guard like Mario + Rabbids.

@AzatiS: See, this is where I disagree, because unlike in previous generations, this is the one and only system Nintendo will have on the market, so they won't ever have to spread their games across multiple of them, leading to the loss of support in later years that typically happens with their consoles
Well dont disagree. I get what you mean and thats the logical way to think but dont forget Wii. A super successful product with epic profits and still they let it go. As long as they have 3DS out there selling games and units things will be weird for a while.
My point of view is the same as always was , you all saying Switch is a console a as Nintendo, as media. So we gonna talk about it as a console ( the thing im against all the way that might hurt system after few years ) and when the things go nasty way , because a console has to be compared with consoles , im waiting for many fans to say something like " Man , its a handheld " or " man , Switch isnt X,Y,Z but it can play on the go " etc. We will see
I hope Nintendo keep up this great year it has as of now till the very end. If Nintendo focus on a single system that two , sound great on paper but i wont trust Nintendo yet , not after Wii.
I've always loved Nintendo, but in the Wii and especially Wii U days, they certainly fell short in the console market, with most of there better focus actually been on the DS/3DS lines.
This year really has felt like the rebirth of Nintendo. A fantastic new system launched with one of the best games Nintendo has ever made, and they've had nothing but hit after hit all year.
The real question however is if they can keep up the momentum. They've set a real precedent with having a major game release every month, but they can only do that for so long. They seem to be heading in the right direction with 3rd party support, which will help them with that, (as long as they sell), but I'm mainly just hoping they haven't jumped the gun, and gone all out too fast, and then we end up with a system that, next year, get's no where near the amount of titles.
@AzatiS: I actually think the switch is a console and handheld both, not one or the other- that's where it's strength lies is what I am arguing!
@AzatiS: I actually think the switch is a console and handheld both, not one or the other- that's where it's strength lies is what I am arguing!
So be it. I think a handheld with TV connectivity is not your traditional console. My PC has TV connectivity , is not a console nor someone can tell me " take it as you like". My mobile has TV connectivity ( or not ) its not a console. If Nintendo or SONY decides to provide a tv connectivity for 3DS or Vita , are not consoles just because. Thats what i think , its my opinion.
Aside TV connectivity everything Switch has screams handheld. From power to cartridges to portability to you name it. Dock in the end of the day is not even part of Switch itself. Its something outside of Switch !! Switch itself is that shiny handheld and dock is dock. Dock is not on Switch nor part of Switch. Its an accessory outside of system itself.
But hey , as i said. Keep your opinion , i got mine no problem.
@AzatiS: our opinions aside, the larger on topic point I'm making is that Nintendo has unified its handheld and console- so there will not be droughts on switch going forward.
Far from being back, true they have two big titles and two possible goty contender games (botw and odyssey) in its first year, but everything else is meh. No one outside of the niche fanbase cares for Splatoon 2, Arms failed and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 looks like complete shit. We know nothing about Metroid Prime 3 except it's coming, Fire Emblem is also a game we know nothing about cause it's a 2018 release date, unless you're one of the 1,200 people thats excited for Fire Emblem Warriors (I'm one of those 1,200 people).
As for 3rd party support it's still severely lacking to the point it's just gonna be another wii u in terms of 3rd party

Yeah , and i told you i know that and its a valid point that i have hope might be the case for Switch to not end up in life support because historically when Nintendo consoles losing momentum , hype and sales/profits start getting low .. they letting it go and that means big time gaps between great games .. aka = life support.
Can this unify you speaking of change that ? Maybe. Maybe not. Why im negative ? Because since N64 Nintendo are not holding as they used to with NES/SNES. Great games , some great epic years but slowly but steadily ...Nintendo consoles became secondary platforms rather than the big deal they used to be in 80s/90s.
Now does that mean they cant change ?! They can , the question is do they want to ? Are we gonna see Switch providing game after game till the very end of its lifespan ? The first step is for Switch to sell as much as possible and the second to lure in some 3rd parties to fill the small time gaps between top first parties. Above all though is Nintendo to not let go and having fans something to wait for at all times as far as their 1st parties go.
It seems they doing just that but do you trust them theyll do till the very end , for example that into 2020 and beyond or will be a 1-2 years thing before they letting it go slowly ? Lets see.
If they only keep what they doing right now for 5 years straight , if only. Lets see
Doing very well so far...if they can continue on with this for next year & the year after..then yea..they are back. :P
@AzatiS: Yeah, I hope they can hold. They may disappoint, but I hope that does not happen.
Thats the main issue i have with Nintendo ( along with everything related to this hold we talking like prices, policies etc ). IF they can show me they will show serious attention to Switch like they doing this very moment thru the rest of its life , Ill be the first ill say good job to them.
they always make great games, they just sometimes have trouble getting people to buy their stuff
Wii U definitely had some great games on it

Yeah, I think the Switch was a good move for Nintendo at this point in time. I don't think it has a realistic chance of catching up to PS4 sales (I mean, it's not part of the PS4 generation, but to answer the part of the poll referring to "back to their former glory"), but will be successful in its own right.
@undefined: switch has support no system ever got since SNES (Nintendo systems) it's Even got la noire doom Wolfenstein 2 fifa wwe mlb game Lego City ...
Rayman legends resident evil it's getting support that hasn't really been seen since game cube
even if you don't like the console or the company, you must admit that the Switch will be a big success.
@AzatiS: Yeah, I hope they can hold. They may disappoint, but I hope that does not happen.
I feel that AzatiS is wrong and you shouldn't believe him
Supply issues are masking it, but I believe Switch has a Small Bull and Big Bull phase similar to the DS.
The Small Bull is the first year with early adopters wanting games like Zelda: BotW, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and some other titles.
“But Nintendo is sold out of Switches, FireEmblem_Man.”
I know. This is why the Big Bull scares me.
Above: Big bull!
You can track a hardware’s trajectory with its software. Look at where the software is taking us. Already, you have games like Zelda and Mario Kart 8 just humming in the background driving sales years from now. Add in software such as Skyrim and other RPGs (Octapath, etc.) that unlocks more market. Add in software such as Doom that unlocks other markets. Look at Arena of Valor. The world’s biggest moba. 80 million players on it in China. Will that unlock a new market? Maybe.
Nintendo’s Direct was amazing to me. I did not expect this much software to come out so soon. And this is STILL the first year of the console.
Mario Kart. Zelda (actual good Zelda). Splatoon. Minecraft. Indie games. Retro games. Nintendo already has an amazing library for Switch. I see the upcoming software pipeline as being Even More Amazing.
I want to play Rocket League on the Switch. I want to play Terraria on the Switch. There is all this software I want for it. And we are still not done with the first year! Do people realize how big this Switch is going to get?
During the NES era, I remember the software pipeline. The first year of NES software wasn’t bad. It was the black box software. Some really, really good games aside from Super Mario Brothers were on it such as Wrecking Crew, Balloon Fight, and that fighting game from Irem. A year later, we got Metroid and Legend of Zelda among other games. But it was 1988-1990 where we got flooded with software (in the good way). The NES wasn’t just hot. It just took off to another level.
Right now, we are not at the flood. The flood of software I expect to come in 2019 and 2020. I expect Switch Version 2 Hardware to come out in 2019.
Nintendo really has its software ducks in a row for Switch, I am sorry you analysts cannot see this (*cough AzatiS, emgesp, JCame1). Best Zelda game ever (arguably), Mario Kart 8, some really fun games like Bomberman to Binding of Isaac, and that was just the first few months. It is going to take me a while just to digest the games I want for the first year. God help us gamers for the second, third, and fourth years of Switch.
I see Switch entering Big Bull within a year from now. I think Nintendo will have production issues with Switches for YEARS. What if China goes nuts over its favorite moba being on Switch? What if there are, say, 30 additional million Switches sold in China alone? You laugh reader, but remember that China is now the world’s top movie market.
Nintendo gained a talent from 7th Generation of unlocking new markets. They haven’t yet displayed this power yet with Switch, but I expect more markets to be unlocked fueling growth years from now.
We are in the Switch Era now.

Shhhh , you talk nonsense.
Everything would make sense if Wii wouldnt have ended up a dust collector. Since that happen , whatever the reasons , you cant trust Nintendo. We are not all fans of every Nintendo exclusive to begin with , only fanboys are whatever platform.
As i said like hunderd of times now before even Switch get a release ( in fact i was one of the few around telling people to not count Switch out ) is not how many units it will sell nor amount of software. Who the big F cares aside Nintendo and their shareholders that will get rich in the end of the day.
What gamers should care about at this point is Nintendos sustainability thru time , aka GAMES till the very end , again and again . Everything else doesnt matter other than System wars material.
With that being said do you trust Nintendo at this point ? Not as a fanboy that you dont mind , as a gamer in general. I know im not. They need to prove this generation they are about to support Switch till Switch 2 or whatever , whatever the circumstances. Game after game after game for at least 5-6 years so Switch fans having something great to play/wait for at any given time. Thats what you should care for.
Also dont forget that in order for Switch to have such strong first year .... they DUMPED Wii U for years with system having in top 10 here in gamespot ... 5 game at one point !! Have you ever seen a top 10 which in reality it was top 5 because it didnt have any other games to make it in top 10 ? And some of them had scores like 5-6 !!!! So is not that suprising to me that Switch had such a strong start at all. They focused for years in their next-gen products while dumped the one was in the market. I gave an example the other day how many and what kind of games PS4 would have day 1 if SONY would do the same with PS3...
With that being said Switch has a strong start and pretty much epic games like Zelda and soon Mario. But in the end of the day always Nintendo was offering few gems , every single generation ... and despite that every single generation since GC they letting their systems go into soft/hard life support too early. Lets hope this isnt the case with Switch , having 1-2 years of epic games then not so much and all be happy , fanboys or not.

Do you even bother reading my post? Or you just like to ramble how Nintendo isn't good enough to post enough games? I also mention 3rd parties as well! I'm not looking at Nintendo's strategy on the Wii, but on the DS. Only this time their strategy is more effective than before! This is just the first year, and more games will come, like they always do.
Its just like WiiU. Only this time it takes the fanboys bit longer to realise this.
But trust me, year from now Switch will be just as dead as WiiU.
I picked other for what I feel is a very big reason. The library is still small with only a few great games.... this thing is killing it.. I know that it will catch on eventually like the 3DS. For now though, the library is holding it back (yes I know it's new, and yes I realize it already has some great games).
In 2-3 years we will know. I feel it is WAY tou early to say for sure at this point however. That said, it is my favorite Nintendo console since the SNES.
Its just like WiiU. Only this time it takes the fanboys bit longer to realise this.
But trust me, year from now Switch will be just as dead as WiiU.
I feel that's harder to happen as the sole successor of the both their home and handheld consoles.
I'm getting GameCube vibes where we got a nice batch of really awesome games. I think the Switch is getting there. It definitely have the best start of.. pretty much any console ever.
Kind of like GameCube with Wind Waker and Metroid Prime, Zelda BotW and Mario Odyssey is Switchs' early monster duo.
They just need to keep up making more strong shit. I know lots of people are waiting for Animal Crossing. I want my goddamn F-Zero.
No, it seems to be somewhere between the Wii and GC. A step in the right direction, but not exactly a comeback.
This will be the next 3DS ... only with more games and actual console level experiences.
I'm pretty confident in saying that at this point.
Japanese are eating this thing up.... going to be a great addition to any library.

Said to someone " Dont beleive azatis " means you dont even read mine.
Wtf does it mean " dont beleive Azatis " in the first place ? Speaking truth , facts , exchange valid opinions with someone ?
How comes you debating with me so hard for calling this a handheld and now you calling out past handheld Nintendo strategies and not consoles when Nintendo , media and all of you taking it as a console ?
Dont prove me right so early, told you sheep gonna speak how Switch is a handheld when things go nasty in the next few years. Anyways , its up to Nintendo at this point. Time will tell.
More games will come for sure but for how long ? Want your Switch end up starving in games in 2020 and beyond ? Dont start with " but but its secondary " or " but but im a fanboy i like every single game they releasing ". So cry me a river once again , when did i say Nintendo isnt good enough ? Being good enough to "post games" vs just let it go is different. You crying for reasons you making up yourself , is silly.
@AzatiS: Even Wii U was supported till the end. Nintendo isnt like Sony and abandons millions of fans like they have with Vita and PS VR, etc.
First Nintendo console I've actually wanted to purchase since the NES.
I can't get one so I've been waiting.
Super fans should lay off people questioning the thing. It has the potential to pull in guys like myself (older Nintendo guys who don't know what a Pokémon is) but damn you're off putting.
@AzatiS: Even Wii U was supported till the end. Nintendo isnt like Sony and abandons millions of fans like they have with Vita and PS VR, etc.
I told you many times before , even when you try to troll , care what you saying before you actual say it.
Vita the last time i checked , a year or a bit more , the SONYs undeniable failure , had more games than Wii U in total lol. And it keeps providing games as we speak. Where is Wii U ? Where was Wii when PS3/X1 was going hard ?
Troll as much as you like , lets hope Switch wont end up a dust collector , i think you got too many of those already.
@AzatiS: Nintendo would never let that happen. They arent a shitty company like Sony who abandons its fans.
@AzatiS: I dont have a Vita or PSVR. Im dust free.
Keep collecting and keep trolling. Like i care about either Vita or PSVR in the first place lol.
I predicted long ago what will happen with VR in general including PSVR. As for Vita , i dont give a crap about handheld gaming since Gameboy era. So... keep trolling. lol
@AzatiS: Lol, i remember you use to hype VR and call it the future. Lol, was so funny watching you flip flop. You did same with Switch when it was called NX. I remember you predicted Splatoon would fail...what a failed prediction. I remember you attacked Wii for shovelware, yet defend Steam. Im gonna start calling you Patcher.
@AzatiS: Lol, i remember you use to hype VR and call it the future. Lol, was so funny watching you flip flop. You did same with Switch when it was called NX.
Lol ! You got any proofs of that ? Similar to " i remember Mario 3D world " cost half price ? hahaha ! Busted.
Keep trolling , i can deal with you whatever lies you coming up with.
@AzatiS: I won that debate too. Trying to claim Nintendo never discounts games...what a fools argument.
@AzatiS: You did say never, thats why i showed you discounted Nintendo games to make fun of you. You then tried to argue they never discount in first 2 years. WHich i again rektd that arse. I rektd that arse up and down the street. Them people were laughing.
@AzatiS: You did say never, thats why i showed you discounted Nintendo games to make fun of you.
You said after a year there was a discount , then you said you lied for the cause yourself ? Want me to link that ? Also you link me a generic black friday page that Mario 3d world was missing from the offers !! Also 1 day offers from specific stores in a specific day dont count as Nintendos price cuts ! Hahaha !
