Do you feel you have "outgrown" consoles?

How many of you feel you have outgrown consoles and their games and are only interested in "serious and mature" PC games now?

It seems to me quite some PC gamers look down upon games like Halo, Gears of War and the like (not to mention kiddy games like Mario) in favour of deep and advanced PC games.

I personally play all sorts of games from kiddy ones to hardcore sims.

I did a couple years ago. Havent touched my toys in a long time.

the witcher 2, team fortress 2, dragon age, the elder scrolls, yep those are all rts games.

No i rather play good quality games like killzone & uncharted rather then over hype crap like crysis & starcraft, which why i will stick with consoles ;)

Funny enough I started out a 100% PC gamer and now I play consoles way more than I game on my PC...I think its because the ease of consoles compared to all the tinkering that needs to be done with PC gaming, I think I outgrew THAT part of it. When I was younger it was cool to build your own PC, overclock it, get cool lookin cases with windows and LED's etc etc, but nowadays id rather just buy a computer from Dell and slap a videocard in it...

it's not just the games, but also the controls. I used to enjoy a controller, but I've upgraded to mouse and keyboard. and you can outgrow low resolution.

I don't really have the time or motivation to get into most of these "deep and advanced" games.

I just find the fact that certain people look down their noses at people becuase they play video games on a different platform and that those people are in some way inferior.

To be fair, you see far, far less of that though it's bound to happen.

Hermits have this self-satisfaction with being a PC gamer that is totally undesrved. I mean, they didn't make the games, the hardware or anything, they just cobbled together a load of computer parts to play games on.

I mean, what is there to be smug about?

What the heck does "serious and mature" mean? Does that mean games like Heavy Rain or LA Noire? You know, the type of serious, real-world adventure dramas that aren't on PC.

That's kind of a biased view but why not play both.

Going off topic PC gamers have been sorta right about console only gamers being kids and very un-tech savvy

1. Remember when console fanboys will hype their latest game saying PC games won't be able to match it? Like their console somehow magically grew more powerful overtime?

2. Am I the only one that notice that this place is mainly between Cows and Lemmings who argue about their lastest FPSes and RPGes having better graphics but PC games don't count in their threads for some reason? Its very obviously they would be very happy on PC but they have royalty to their consoles for some reason.

3. Despite the above Cows and Lemming will team up and even bring in Wii games in consoles vs PC threads.

If I read some silly stuff like that all the time I would probably degrade into some sort of elitist jerk too. Its easy to feel smart and superior if that's what you're competing with.

it means when you play, say, Fallout 3 on the PC you are a grown man, but when you play the same on a console you are just a child...it is unshakeable logic

If I am interested in a game, and own the platform on which it is launched, then I buy it and I play it. What does it matter that it is on console or not?

As for the 'complexity' argument, I'm inclined to call BS on that. Sometimes even the most simple game mechanics can have a lot of permutations and combinations to try out and hence become complex.

No, I have not and I find the notion of "outgrowing" consoles quite stupid to be honest.

I outgrew them back when I was 14.

Basically I outgrew the dumbed down game play, and since having a good, stable job, I don't have to worry about ::gasp:: spending a few bucks on my hobby. I'm no longer a starving student.

I wouldn't say that I've outgrown them but I would say that I'd rather get a better quality in gaming when it is available to me financially. If I didn't have the money to have a gaming PC I would probably spend more time with consoles but I do so I don't.

Yeah I think so, console provide nothing of substance these days. It's all flash and gimmicks.

Platinum seems to be the #1 reason for me to keep my 360 around even though the PC games are superior but not everything comes to PC.
