1080 for now.
I would if a decent screen did'nt cost as much as the GPU required to drive it.
A 4GB GTX 770 does'nt cut it.
I have a very nice Asus ROG Swift 1440p and 144Hz.
I considered going 4k but I like high frame rates and 60+ needs more GPU than I'm willing to pay for atm, Even my 980Ti won't get a good constant 60+ at 4k on most games with max settings. Where as with 2K I get a fairly regular 100+ with most games and never sully my vision with anything less that 60 ;-)
1080p until Pascal or next gen AMD GPUs. It better be a huge leap for mid-high end gamers to enjoy and not just the enthusiasts.
Yes I do. I can't go back to 1080p. 1440p looks so much better it's indescribable.
What brand/model monitor are you using if you don't mind me asking?

I'm assuming you play this resolution with at least 60 fps? What hardware do you have to run games at 1440 with high frames?

I am curious as to how large is your 1440P monitor and how big was your 1080P monitor (just to get a sense of how big of a jump I need to see a noticeable difference). I am thinking about getting a 1440P FreeSync monitor now that I have a Fury X. I currently use 1440P VSR and 4K VSR for gaming but would like to try it at native resolutions.
On PC I'm gaming on a 1440p IPS monitor and it's great but I'm buying a new PC for upstairs and plugging it into a 50 inch 4K TV I will probably be going 1440p on that too because I'm not prepared to pay for a 980ti or dual Titans to play in 4K on PC just yet.
LCD is trash, doesnt matter if its 1440p 4k or 8k
Are you saying that a plasma at 720 is better than LCD or LED at 1080 and even 1440?
No, they dont make Plasma or OLED 1440p displays, so no point.
"They" don't make Plasma displays period! That shit died in 2014. The death of Plasma is gonna hurt your schtick.

Didn't you know that Plasma TVs enhanced graphics last gen?

4K OLED or too poor to buy the hardware to run it?
Nope.. I prefer 1080p.. I am more interested in VR and NVidia 3d at 1080p than any real concern of playing at a higher resolution.. I will only grudgingly go higher when hardware has surpassed software demands by so much that you may as well be playing at those resolutions..
In the next few months I'll add a 4k panel to my setup, but right now I'm fine with 1080p on a r9 390 8GB.
The resolution game has changed and it's hard to justify the amount of money for 4k/60fps.
I'm still at 1080 (soon to upgrade from a 670 to a 980 Ti so I can go overkill with fps/settings). Truth is I would like to move up to 1440p, albeit at a 21:9 aspect ratio. But I still don't feel there'a single GPU solution out there that has the kind of future proofing/crazy performance overhead I'd like. And there probably won't be for a little while yet.
