[QUOTE="S0DA_POPINSKI"][QUOTE="rhaigun"][QUOTE="Danm_999"][QUOTE="rhaigun"]You're argument is flawed because all these things are available on PC for free. I can play the games free, (or at the same cost if it's an MMORPG). I can use the universal friend lists and grouping programs for free (and Live is coming to Windows) I can use the voice chat programs like TeamSpeak or Ventrillo free. Yeah. Thing is though. Everyone who uses XBL does all of these. Not just one or the other. You'd be hard pressed to find 5+ million people on PC who do. Much less find 500,000. Agree 100%. I like not having 500 programs to run to do the things I do on XBL. Also playing with people you like to and avoiding people you dont like I so easy to do on XBL. X-fire alone does everything.... and has over 6 milllion users REALLY ?! so with two clicks I can avoid a gamer forever in every single online game I will ever play on my PC?You guys can bash it all you want. I have no problem paying for it because I know what I'm getting. If I didn't think it was worth $4 a month, I wouldn't pay for it. The whole expierience is better than anything I've ever played on PC. It's not just words flashing across a screen. It's a person I'm talking to, laughing with or cussing at. It evokes emotions I'll never get out of a keyboard.

I would go out on a limb and say people in their situation are in the minority.First the point is pointless. I know friends of mine that are addicted to FFXI so they no longer pay for XBL gold.S0DA_POPINSKI
2nd. So that all you console games have some sort of online function? So that you get more games that are online multiplayer then any other system? So you have unified friends lists? so you dont have to put up with seperate programs like PC gaming? so voice support is widly supported? So that you can easily avoid players that annoy you? so that you can easily find like minded players to play with?Again, none of these things aren't neglected on the PC. Most games have online support on the PC, more games have online support than consoles (its been around for nearly a decade), you can get programs with unified friends lists like Xfire that have more users than XBL (Xfire has 6 million), seperate programs aren't necessary or worth shelling out $50/year, Voice support IS widely supported (it was basically born and perfect on PC), you can easily avoid those who you don't like or allow yourself to group with players of your ability.Like I said you dont know what you are talking about.S0DA_POPINSKI

One thing I dont get on my PC that I have been getting over XBL is all the fully co-op games online.
Right at launch my buddy (again who lives thousands of miles away now) and I co-oped through the entire SP story of PD0... to gears of war... to contra and street fighter. Its all about bieng standard... all 360 games, even the sp, have good online components. Even if its just the ability to open up a private chat with anyone anytime... even if I am online playing a 16 player game can open a private voice chat with a friend who just logged on.
Someone also mentioned donations to servers... I do donate to my fav. community servers to keep them going. I donate to my PC CoD2 community and my BF2 community.

The question is: How much are you willing to pay for matchmaking, messaging, voice chat, and online play that works on all games by default? All the stuff you get on Gold is the same as Silver except playing online, and we pay 50 bucks a year, so developers get an online that they don't have to work their asses off to get up and running.
Guess_With_ReX
Resistance is going strong on PSN. It all depends on how the developers handle it for the PSN, not Sony.BladeofImmortalV. Tennis? The lack of unified friends lists is huge too imo.

[QUOTE="Coyo7e"][QUOTE="Danm_999"][QUOTE="S0DA_POPINSKI"]I would go out on a limb and say people in their situation are in the minority.First the point is pointless. I know friends of mine that are addicted to FFXI so they no longer pay for XBL gold.Danm_999
2nd. So that all you console games have some sort of online function? So that you get more games that are online multiplayer then any other system? So you have unified friends lists? so you dont have to put up with seperate programs like PC gaming? so voice support is widly supported? So that you can easily avoid players that annoy you? so that you can easily find like minded players to play with?Like I said you dont know what you are talking about.S0DA_POPINSKI

You've shown me nothing I can't do on PC for free. Why is XBL worth $50/year?
PC games do have online Co-op (Diablo series) and many more have had it put in through mods (Half Life, Doom, Quake etc).Through mods doesnt count. Its a totally differant ball game to have the dev's make the game ready to be online co-op the day you pick it up... and have them desighn for it. On XBL I expect online co-op on the PC its still the exception to the rule.
Even the R6 vegas terrorist hunts with 3 friends the day we buy is great.

How is it a different ball game if it works? what do you mean Mods dont count? devs expect and want their games to be modded.Having to pay for XBL is bullcrap. That the money goes towards servers is also bullcrap since most of the game servers are user hosted like on PC's and PSN. Don't believe the propaganda. XBL is just more Microsoft money-mongering. Mods dont count becouse of the additional time and install issues that exist for it. It took forever for there to be a doom3 co-op that ran reasonably well and was well balanced. Out of the box, desighned by the dev's, with a solid net code, right from day one. It takes time to make a quality mod for PC games, especially games that are using new engines.. ( like when doom3 first released).
No extra hassle its just there.
