The walk in store refuses to sell anything on release day unless you reserve it first...So I never go there. I mainly buy my games from Steam,Direct2Drive,Amazon and Walmart (which ,ironically, sells me games when Gamestop won't)

I don't particularly like them but then again I don't hate them and feel the urge to whine about them on the internet. I find the employee's tendency to push deals on customers a little annoying, but then again it's what they're suppose to do. Anyone who has ever worked in any form of retail should know that cashiers only do that because their managers tell them to. I was once chewed out by my manager at Target because I skipped the process of trying to get people to get Target credit cards.
I won't like though, they do have some pretty sweet pre-order deals. So I normally preorder from them and buy other games from Amazon.

I've yet to experience that problem.

Use to happen to me all the time...even on games I wouldn't consider to be a big release title.[QUOTE="Lionheart08"][QUOTE="UnknownSniper65"]

Happened once or twice to me I think, SSBB and I forget the other, it royally pissed me off but I just bought it at Walmart, no big deal.I've yet to experience that problem.

Not really, but they are my only sources for rare old games unfortunately!
-DarthMaul-
really? Mine sucks when it comes to older games, I was craving some Halo CE so I went down to Gamestop yesterday...Didn't have it
I think Amazon is better for that, but a bit over priced sometimes. Not really, but they are my only sources for rare old games unfortunately!

I dont like them, they rip consumers off with trade ins. I only go there cause its right up my block and is incredibly convenient.

I live in a big city, NYC, and I've never had that problem before either. Then again I live in Harlem and it's not exactly the wealthiest section of the city :P so PS3 games were very easy to come by :).I've yet to experience that problem.

No. I like that I can buy uber-cheap PS2 games there, as well as other older current gen games used for really cheap, but I hate how they can take new games out of the wrap, play it for a couple days, bring it back, and then sell it as new. Plus, their trade-in policy sucks.
back in December I was looking for NCAA 10 football, I went into a gamestop and asked if they had it, "No sir we don't have it new, They stop making new games two months after release so you'll have to buy it used"...I knew it was B.S. but I looked at the used NCAA 10, they wanted 57.99 for it. Just two dollars cheaper then one for new. I went to Best Buy the next day and bought it new.

And that's exactly why I hate EB Games/Gamestop. Selling a used game for $5 cheaper than it is to buy it new isn't worth it to me, even if it's just so I don't have to deal with their industrial strength stickers that they plaster all over the box.
Generally they're ok. The only time I was annoyed happened around a year ago. I was trying to buy a new copy of The Orange Box and GS tried to sell me an opened copy as new. If it isn't factory sealed its used merchandise.
I use steam or amazon cause gamespot's prices are too high and they don't give you anything for old games either.

Although 7 isnt mediocre in GI like you said, GI being owned by gamestop is really crazy. That has wrong all over it. Thanks for the info.[QUOTE="Twig978"]Nope, look in my sig for a crap load of reasons why. http://www.gamespot.com/users/Twig978/blog?tag=all-about;see-all-blog-postspeaceoutmedusa

Thanks for the info.Am I the only person that doesn't hate Gamestop for being like any other retailer in the world? It's not like they are any worse than the rest of the lot. As for them ripping off people on how much they pay for used games, unless you can point me to a retail joint that offers more for them, Gamestop is better than them. I get that you can sell games on craigslist and ebay for more, but honestly I don't see how you can compare a retailer's deals with individual trading. Just my thoughts.
No, i totally despise Gamestop not only because the open the boxes of games, but also sometimes they rip out CD-Keys from PC games, not to explain that some of them are also fanboys, when i went to buyMass Effect for my PCthey desperatly tried to convince me to get the 360 version.
Gamestop?
More like FAILstop
It's more of a love/hate thing for Gamestop. I go there because I hate paying for Shipping. And most of the time I've been quite lucky on USED games. However I prefer them NEW. I usually go to BestBuy or Gamestop. For convenience quick pick up and buy, I really have NO choice but to go to major game/electronic retailers.
If I had a choice to buy games completely rare, but NEW, I would go to Amazon or eBay.
Personally you save yourself alot of money and trouble buying amazon. People don't do because you dont want to do the whole paying for shipping and handlings, that where Amazon Prime comes in. That last for a year and overly so pays for it self. I mean its like 75 bucks a year, where normally the cheaper pricing, no taxes, and free 2 day shipping all pays for it. I suggest doing it,that and they have their own little preorder things like game credit (5-10 dollars) and bonuses (DLC, etc stuff) with it.The only thing I do not care for with GameStop is selling open games, and calling them "new."
Otherwise, in regards to GameStop's trade-in prices, GameStop is a business, and being a business, they need to make a profit. Do not like it? Use eBay.
Personally, I do not even shop there anymore. These days, I shop exclusively through online (e.g. Amazon, NewEgg).
No. I've never actually made a purchase there, but I've never liked the atmosphere. I hate that the whole shopping experience is designed around the concept that I'm a "gamer".
Give me a nice big-box retailer like Target, where you could just as well be there to buy a dishwasher.

Hah, I know what you mean. Especially with what I wear, you'd think I would be there to start something. They're not bad overall but I get it and get out as quick as possible. Its always eery in there except for this one but its a long drive and Im not going all the way there for 1 damn game.

Even then, while it is not quite as fast, Amazon offer free shipping for orders over 25 bucks. As well as some of the major game release day to door shipping, meaning it be at your house sometime during the day it release.[QUOTE="ArisShadows"]Personally you save yourself alot of money and trouble buying amazon.
