[QUOTE="IbukiNinja"]I have no remorse for M$. They came in thinking "money". They had no vision on where they wanted to take gaming. Bill Gates said it himself that the Xbox was his "side project". Tell me does that sound like they care? I mostly feel sorry for people who went in to actually support such a company like M$. it was like the blind leading the blind. My advice would to Pack up and leave. Let comapnys like Apple handle the 3rd slot for the gaming division.Verge_6

Sorry to tell you, but every company is in it for the money. All three of the console companies don't give a rats ass about us just as long as we keep buying their stuff. Oh sure, it may seem like they care, but that's their public face. I'm sure all they see is our wallets, nothing more.

It's shungokustasu, you know how he thinks. Sony is in this race to cure cancer, stop AIDS, and establish world peace. Whilst Microsoft is in it to kill puppies, mutilate babies, etc.

Oh no, I engaged a "Sony = God" fanboy! Thanks for the heads up.

Abort! Abort!

Nah, don't worry. He's all talk, and uses big words to try and intimidate people. Hell, if a guy proclaims Mass Effect to be a shooter, do you really think he'd be that bright?

MS will pull out when the rest of the company begins to suffer. Right now they make enough money in other divisions to make up for the 0 profit Xbox division. If I were MS though, I'd make the shift towards PC gaming, put cheap gaming PCs on the market, publish games, they'd be able to make it mainstream again.

Hello Shungokustasu. Had to make another account since your Socrates88 profile got canned as well?

He's obviously Shungo. I don't believe a new account would be so dedicated to such an old game. Anybody who has a passion for that game would already have an account here. Plus he has the same video links as Shungo did lol

They are making a profit on every 360 and every 360 game sold right now. Why would they leave? They need to clear up all the debt from the original XBox. The XBox brand isn't going anywhere. They are leading this generation right now and are a huge success. That would be like asking Apple to stop their IPod and IPhone business. LMAO!! Not going to happen.

thats what xbox haters said Last Gen.:|

its not gonna happen, microsoft is in it to win it.

yeah losing 1.5 billion dollars..and not makin a penny is winning..lol...and the xbox was dead last gen .ps2 murder it.. whats goin to bite microsoft in the butt is the million of defective hardware out there...ill be playin my ps3 game while lemming is repairing their 360 for the 10th times..

last gen ps2 won because it came out much earlier and had a pre installed userbase... the xbox had superiour hardware and good games but the ps2 outsold it... so this gen time is to repeat itslef with the superiour hardware ps3 losing how xbox lost last gen.... time is repeating itself in microsofts favor

You call the Xbox 360 superior hardware? You can't be serious. Microsoft has unleashed the most unreliable console ever produced and you call it, "superior"?

Wow.

Read his post again....slowly.

Also, I want proof that the 360 is more unreliable than the PS2.

Unfortunately for all gamers, Microsoft will not pull the plug on the Xbox. They have a long term agenda of trying to control the entire gaming and home entertainment industry. Whether or not they succeed still remains to be seen.

But because of a pathetic andleaderless elected US government, which fails to represent the people of the US.A government whose purposehas been altered andbought out by special interests and corporate greed, has allowed Microsoft's illegal business practices to continue unchecked. Microsofts vastreservoir of cash has allowed them to buy out developers, asthey slowly subvert the gaming industry into their strategy of complete market control. There will be no free market and competition. Gaming will be more expensive with less innovation.

Take that crap out of here. This is not a place for you to spout your political views and rediculous conspiracy theories.

I didn't spout any political views. But I will probably get banned because I have the nuts to question what is occuring.

In any event, Martin Luther, in the 16th century, questioned the role of the papacy and its corrupt rule. I'm sure some people felt that he had ridiculous conspiracy theories too. Fortunately humanism ruled out, and the oppresion of Europe yielded to scholastic thought and the Age of Discovery: The Renaissance.

Yes, as SOny agreed to give free repairs on ALL PS2s until Feb. 2005. Hmm, kinda like what MS is doing right now. And no, MS did NOT state that there was a flaw in the 360 console. They said that there MAY be a defect in it that COULD cause it to malfunction.

Yeah like how Sony is trying to control the HD-Format market by forcing you into buying Blu-Ray thus making a $600 machine. At least MS makes gaming affordable you have to pay extra just for Sony's expense at winning a format war. Unfortunately for all games *cough* I mean Microsoft haters MS gets quality games on its platform.

What are you blabbering about SONY has never tried to push a format on their gaming systems. ;)

Sony took a $2 billion hit in one quarter and will take another billion dollar hit in the next quarter. Plus they are in last place. Their price drop of $100 for the 60GB was just a sham. They are discontinuing the 60GB PS3 and replacing it with the $599 80GB PS3. So cows will still be paying $600 bones for a PS3 in Aug, Sept, Oct.... What a bonehead move. You bash the 360, but it's outselling the PS3 in both software and hardware. It's selling more 360 software in Japan then the PS3 software, even though the PS3 is selling more hardware. With a 3 year warrantee, gamers will always be able to get a another 360 for FREE. Can't say that about the PS3 if anything happens to it.

You realize that Sony uses microtransactions to correct? The only reason they couldn't do it with PS2 was lack of a Hardrive. If you wanna look at innovation check out XBL and check out how Sony is doing everything they can to copy it. They even admitted that they are taking ideas from it while admitting their inferority to it.

next-gen format was needed. Microsoft were stupid not to include hddvd as standard

actually no, and i can guarantee that the PS2 did not have 33 percent failure rate, can you imagine 30+ million people with broken consoles?? :lol:Apocalypse33

Hmm, can you provide me an official statement confirming the 33% defect rate, OTHER than the retailer who provided no factual data for said claim? Doesn't it seem...odd, that there have been no mass-refusals amongst retailers to not stock the 360, AND a lack of recalls? And how does that not sound familiar to you? Let me lay it out;

1) Microsoft agrees to repair all broken 360s for free for three straight years

2) Sony agrees to repair all broken PS2s for free until 2005

See the similarities? Well, I guess Sony's situation differs, as they had to have a lawsuit filed against them to make them get into action.

Unfortunately for all gamers, Microsoft will not pull the plug on the Xbox. They have a long term agenda of trying to control the entire gaming and home entertainment industry. Whether or not they succeed still remains to be seen.

Dencore

Yeah like how Sony is trying to control the HD-Format market by forcing you into buying Blu-Ray thus making a $600 machine. At least MS makes gaming affordable you have to pay extra just for Sony's expense at winning a format war. Unfortunately for all games *cough* I mean Microsoft haters MS gets quality games on its platform.

What are you blabbering about SONY has never tried to push a format on their gaming systems. ;)

I hear a little sarcasm in that post. Sony's motto, "We will win this generation by forcing you to buy our Blu-Ray players in the PS3's." lol!! What's funny is if you remove all the Blu-Ray players sold through the PS3, the number of HD-DVD & Blu-Ray players sold are close to even. Sony's only advantage is Blu-Ray players in the PS3. People just need to wait for more Dual (HD-DVD/Blu-Ray) players to be released anyway. Both formats are doing terrible in terms of movie sales. I won't bother with either formats until they become standard and studios stop making DVD's. That won't be happening anytime soon.

Honestly, people accusing Microsoft of doing things that they very company they love is also doing...ironic.Verge_6

honestly you cant be that surprised. happens all the time in here the hypocrisy. my fav. topic from yesterday was the topic that said something like ps3 is fps heaven. when those same ppl criticised 360 owners for having nothing bu fps games.

yes, so lets assume that the retailer flat out lied and where is your evidence, this argument is pointless anyone with half a brain would agree that Microsoft made a faulty console, and they stepped up to the plate to fix it, what is your point that you are tryng so hard to make, not gonna get that comission if you dont convert me or something. Gaming will be more expensive with less innovation.

Subcritical

You mean like a $600 console?

That is ownage like no other right there.

Which company has initiated "Microtransactions" into gaming? Well, I guess no one can accuse Microsoft of not being innovative.

Map packs that use to be free, now carry a fee. Hmm......

"Microtransactions" is used on the PS3 and Wii as well. You point is mute.

A next gen format was needed? LOL you are brainwashed kid. Theres a reason why PC doesn't use Blu-Ray or HD-DVD and that's because it has a standard HDD. Oh wait. PS3 has a standard HDD as well. Looks like you got tricked again. Sony already knew they were putting in a standard HDD. They could have just installed a 250GB HDD and used DVD9.

250 GBs for $65

Regardless of how you look at it. A new format was not "NEEDED" period. Its a luxary and nothing more.

Do you work for Sony? I'm not the one saying that Microsoft is a taint upon this earth and making it sound like they're the ONLY ones trying to get a foothold majority in the gmaing market. You're new to this whole 'free enterprise' thing, aren't you

Verge_6

I only own 1 Sony product. It is an MP3 player in my truck.

Free Enterprise? Tell me, do you think if you and I were electrical engineers, and we designed a console in our garage and made it like the Xbox 360, that we'd still be in business?

Free enterprise means competition governed by supply and demand. Monopolies are illegal. How much competition is there in the PC OS business? How much money from the monoply that Microsoft is, has been used to float a product that hasn't earned any money in 6 years?

Another scenario: Please tell me how you and I, as software engineers fed up with the Windows OS, could go about making our ownOS to compete against Microsofts monopoly?

You realize that Sony uses microtransactions to correct? The only reason they couldn't do it with PS2 was lack of a Hardrive. If you wanna look at innovation check out XBL and check out how Sony is doing everything they can to copy it. They even admitted that they are taking ideas from it while admitting their inferority to it.

Exactly. Sony just announced that they will be putting movies and T.V. shows on PSN very soon. A blatant copy from XBox Live. Sony's been copying Nintendo & Microsoft for years now. Nothing new.

Microtransactions are bad. I don't care who incorporates them. What's next, a microtransaction to buy virtual gas for the drivable vehicle in a future FPS game? Microsoft has made microtransactions what they are today.

And there were NO console defect rates equivalent to that of the PS2 at the time or prior, and the Wii and PS3 are stable...thus, your claim of the 360 having a higher defect rate means that it IS the most unreliable console ever made. Logic. And again, you have yet to provide proof that the PS2 was, in fact, less faulty. The proof you did provide was countered by the fact Sony did the exact same with the PS2 as MS did with the 360. Also, I don't 'love' Microsoft. They don't give a damn about me, and I know it. I simply have no tolerance for ignorant statements.

Yes lets blame microsoft for microtransactions when Nintendo and Sony also use them

EA has been one of the biggest abusers of microtransactions. Paying money for cheats and stadiums and such which is already on the game disc.

If there are other viable alternatives to MS in the market, who are they? I'd like to fire up my copy of Thief: The Dark Ageon it.

Actually, I feel I should be head of Microsoft. Instead of blowing billions on hardware in an attempt to control both software and hardware, I would of streamlined the OS, and pushed software for PC's that would allow the PC to be easier for entertainment and gaming. Why bother with the distraction ofmaking hardware? There are 100's of hardware manufacturers out there making quality computer hardware already.

Beat Sony out by eliminating the need for the Playstation franchise by producing better software. Simple.

Now look at their mess. What a headache they made for themselves. All because the want to control everything.

:| Wow. And how on earth did you come to that brilliant conclusion.

Quote; "your claim of the 360 having a higher defect rate means it IS the most defective console ever made"

Now, if you can provide factual evidence that the PS2 was less faulty, THEN you have a case. But, you have yet to do so.
