im not going to spend this thread bashing nintendo but when it come to a new IP they are long overdue. With the wii u looming on the horizon I feel this is the perfect oppurtunity for nintendo to release a game that appeals more to the fans that started with the nes. Im talking about something that you would never think to be released from them. Im thinking JRPG because lets face it the genre is in desperate need of new life. With the continued downfall of square enix nintendo has the oppurtunity to be come the trend setter for the next gen and create characters that fans love want to continue see along side mario link and DK. I feel that with the Wi ipad they could create a mmo exclusive for the system. Nintendo I hope the wii u will bring a variety of new games that can bring back the fans that have lost faith in the company. Do you think they can show the hardcore that they can grow as a serious competitor in todays gaming market.

maybe a reboot like what the Gamecube did with Custom Robos.

New IP in terms of building a new iconic character? I doubt Nintendo will add a new member to the family 20 years later.

Xenoblade,Last Story, Pandora's TowerWii series, steel Diver(though it was awful) are all new IP's, there may not have been a greatNintendo IP in the statesin awhile but there not non-existant there were just more casual new IPs this gen but they are non-existant.

Why? They had new IP's in the past and they were overlooked for the likes of Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon. Eternal Darkness gets high critical praise and hardly anyone gave two ***** about that game.

Don't know, most likely, the real question is whether or not it will come to America.

I would much rather they port Xenoblade in HD with updated textures as a launch title :D

Well, they definitely need a new IP. I think the last one they made was Pikmin. So yeah, a new IP with some new faces would be nice.

pikmin. as for new IPs, nintendo makes them, but people prefer to ignore what doesn't suit their hardcorz tastes.

They made new play control versions, plus you were talking about iconic characters, Olimar is pretty Iconic. As for the series not getting another sequel, well they goofed there. Hopefully they bring the next one on the WiiU

Yeah, the textures are really one of the only flaws of the game. With how well they designed the scale of the game, higher res textures and resolution would make it AMAZING!

I imported Xenoblade and will be importing Last Story next year, but if that happened I would buy it again on the Wii U :D

I REALLY hope the next console isn't region locked... if we have another Xenoblade situation I would be very sad :P

Have a link to that? I checked Wikipedia's best-selling Gamecube games list and Pikmin 2 wasn't on there. Not to mention, vgchartz (it may not be credible but it's the best I got) lists the sales numbers REALLY low.

Yeah but we are talking about the wii u.ceelogic

We know nothing about the Wii U.

If we want to discuss if there would be new IP's for Wii U, we have to look at the past and see if Nintendo has made new IP's lately.

And they have, more so than Microsoft (and up there with Sony).

If you want new Nintendo IP's, you have nothing to worry about, other than forgetting they exist.

Lets see. The Wii's new Nintendo IP's were Wii Sports and Resort, Wii Plat, Wii Fit, and Wii Music. Why would you wanna new Nintendo IP at this point?

I think the real question is when is Nintendo going to release a new ip that does something new and that people actually care about.

Well let me ask you this how many of those games listed have spent a heavy rotation in your wii. I guess what I should have asked was why nintendo doesn't apply the same lvl of quality in new IPs as they do with mario or zelda.

They do apply the same level of quality.

What they don't apply is the same level of advertising. They always advertise the latest Mario game on TV's, but don't say a word about the upcoming The Rolling Western.
