I think it will deliver Pikmin 3, since EAD3 has been working on it since finishing New Super Mario Bros. at least.

Will it deliver new IPs eventually? Of course.

Contrary to popular belief Nintendo continues to steadily make new IPs.

Lets see. The Wii's new Nintendo IP's were Wii Sports and Resort, Wii Plat, Wii Fit, and Wii Music. Why would you wanna new Nintendo IP at this point?

I got rid of Glory of Heracles it isn't a new IP. It is new to Nintendo but Glory of Heracles series started in 1987. Paon and Nintendo purchased Glory of Heracles after Data East went under. Paon is made up of many former Data East employees.

But the Glory of Heracles from 2010 is the sixth game in the series but the 1st to be released outside of Japan.

When it comes to Nintendo, people will always think about all their old games (Mario,Zelda and Metroid) and fail to realize that they make new ones each console generation. Please Nintendo, give Xenoblade a sequal....and Baten Kaitos too. :P

Pikmin on a Wii U would be amazing if done right with the controller. The really need a new IP and I don't think Nintendo will deliver BUT they are in desperate need of a third party launch game exclusive that can compete with games like Uncharted/Halo/Gears and so on. They really need a "hardcore" action game that isn't a port and is exclusive for the Wii U other wise we will see the same thing that happened to the Wii... shovel ware and gimmicky games advertised to casuals with the occasional Nintendo first party game every year. I'm optimistic but after all the promises they gave to Wii owners and the lack of tittles on the 3DS I beggining to think Nintendo may not deliver what we are all praying for with the Wii U.

I don't think Game Freak would do that. They said that the main series will always be on Handhelds.

Nintendo doesn't care to put any new core IPs on their home consoles and when they do, they never follow up on them. The wii doesn't have Starfox, F-zero, Pikmin, Luigi's mansion etc and they sold off Perfect Dark, GE and Banjo.

They never owned them. GE is not Nintendos it was a licensed game and before they could make a sequel. EA bought the Bond License.

Banjo and Perfect Dark was Rare and Nintendo didn't sell Rare. Rare sold themselves. Nintendo just refused to purchase them.

[QUOTE="rasengan2552"]

maybe a reboot like what the Gamecube did with Custom Robos.

New IP in terms of building a new iconic character? I doubt Nintendo will add a new member to the family 20 years later.

BrunoBRS

pikmin. as for new IPs, nintendo makes them, but people prefer to ignore what doesn't suit their hardcorz tastes.

more examples! Pikmin is like 10 years old... People criticizes Sony a lot but look just how many IP's they have and they keep making new ones every generation even when they don't sell a lot. That's what I call bold. While Nintendo is like a scary cat still living out of past success and nostalgia. Even AVGN said it on one of his episode when he was comparing all the current gen consoles. He said that he liked the X360 but the Wii would be his main choice anyway because of the nostalgia and that he will always be a Nintendo boy and that is how many Nintendo fans are too.

Console gamers really do not care about jaggies. If they do remakes they're going to have to be older than that.

Nintendo gets no credit for their new IPs when they continue to influence others... Wii Sports anyone?

Also they may not be new but:

Pikmin / Kid Icarus / Eternal Darkness II will all make appearences on the Wii-U

all very fresh IPs

Which sucks because I thought GX was amazing.

This is what Miyamoto ACTUALLY said about F-Zero GX.

"This collaboration has resulted in a true evolution of the "F-ZERO" series. Not only have we enhanced the intense feeling of racing at such high speeds, but we've expanded the F-ZERO world on a grand scale. Beyond that, we've also successfully implemented a link between play on the arcade unit and the Game Cube."

This is where the whole "Miyamoto doesn't like F-Zero GX" comes from...

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: "You've had great success in your ability to predict what players will find fun to play.Have there been games that you thought would be fun but didn't turn out that way?"

SHIGERU MIYAMOTO: "Yes, that has definitely happened. In the past we've worked with some outside development houses on titles like F-Zero and Starfox — and let me just say that we were disappointed with the results. Consumers got very excited about the idea of those games, butthe games themselves did not deliver. And, well, to be honest with you, Zelda: Twilight Princess is not doing very well at all in Japan. It is very disappointing. But it is doing okay here in America."

As you can see, F-Zero GX was never mentioned by name. He could have been referring to any of the GBA titles, all 3 of which were made with outside assistance. Also, even if he was referring to F-Zero GX, its unclear what about it was a disappointment, something about the game or simply the consumer reaction to the game, which would make sense given the context of the answer.

Definitely will have new IPs. I hope they make something that can stand with Mario, Metroid, Zelda, etc. though, rather then more casual games. (Wii Sports is awesome I just prefer the big epic 60 hour adventures :D) Xenoblade was a cool new IP for them this gen.

im not going to spend this thread bashing nintendo but when it come to a new IP they are long overdue. With the wii u looming on the horizon I feel this is the perfect oppurtunity for nintendo to release a game that appeals more to the fans that started with the nes. Im talking about something that you would never think to be released from them. Im thinking JRPG because lets face it the genre is in desperate need of new life. With the continued downfall of square enix nintendo has the oppurtunity to be come the trend setter for the next gen and create characters that fans love want to continue see along side mario link and DK. I feel that with the Wi ipad they could create a mmo exclusive for the system. Nintendo I hope the wii u will bring a variety of new games that can bring back the fans that have lost faith in the company. Do you think they can show the hardcore that they can grow as a serious competitor in todays gaming market.

It has been known with the exception of one game out of pure luck that ended up decent, Nintendo and Rpgs (In general not just J) don't mix no matter what ingrdients you put into the pot.

Why? They had new IP's in the past and they were overlooked for the likes of Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon. Eternal Darkness gets high critical praise and hardly anyone gave two ***** about that game.

i want a new ip from miyamoto himself

You mean like Nintendogs? lol

[QUOTE="Aquaunitpatrol"][QUOTE="locopatho"][QUOTE="Aquaunitpatrol"] It has been known with the exception of one game out of pure luck that ended up decent, Nintendo and Rpgs (In general not just J) don't mix no matter what ingrdients you put into the pot.

They;ve made a few good ones though.

Such as? Maybe I forgot a few.

Fire Emblem, Mario RPGs in their various forms, Xenoblade just out.

Well let me ask you this how many of those games listed have spent a heavy rotation in your wii. I guess what I should have asked was why nintendo doesn't apply the same lvl of quality in new IPs as they do with mario or zelda. ceelogic
I love this denial. - "Why does Nintendo not have any new IPs and just does Zelda, Mario and Pokemon?" > "They actually have quite a few." *huge list* - "Well... how many of them have you played?" > "A few, but not all. They do exist." - "Okay... but how many of them are as good as Mario, Zelda and Pokemon?" > "A few, but not all. New IP's are a big risk and don't always hit a home run." - "So you admit Nintendo doesn't make any new IP's on par with Mario, Zelda and Pokemon?" > "Yes, but I proved that Nintendo makes new IP's. The argument was never about their quality, or critical/commercial success." - "HAHAHAHA, Nintendo doesn't have any good new IP's! Even Nintendo fans admit it! Lol!" > "I... err... wait, what? That wasn't what I said." - "ROFLLOLLERSKATES!"

I meant at least above decent and only Xenoblade is above decent (although not godly like some people on SW prefer.) Oh and Fire Emblem I don't believe you can call that an rpg.

Mother has died a long time ago, pokemon is not made by Nintendo and Golden sun is just barely decent.

Mother 3 came out a few years ago; the Pokemon studio is essentially a Nintendo second-party developer and the Pokemon license is owned by Nintendo; that is merely your opinion and not something relevant to this kind of discussion.

Nintendo need new ip. They need mature games and more Western based first party teams.

I meant died in popularity and sales, Pokemon studio is NOT NINTENDO. Just like the people 2nd-party devs from other companies don't always magically end up with everyone who worked on first-party franchises. (Pokemon team is not the Mario team for example. Different people. ), Golden Sun in Nintendos eyes is barely relevant.

That's implying they have any western based studios.

[QUOTE="princemarth23"]

[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"] You know why Nintendo refuses to go back to Star Fox and F-Zero? Popularity in those series declined and Miyamoto HATED F-Zero GX.Seiki_sands

In the past we've worked with some outside development houses on titles like F-Zero and Starfox - and let me just say that we were disappointed with the results.

Never knew Sega/Amusement Vision were owned by Nintendo.

I think the real question is when is Nintendo going to release a new ip that does something new and that people actually care about.

deangallop
bu,bu,but....what about Xenoblade?! That little RPG which SW's cried about when it wasnt being releasedi in the US.
