It seems as though a lot of SW despise Sony and will find any way to turn positive new into a negative news for the company. eg, when rumble was announced instead of saying "good on sony for delivering what consumers want" the idea was bashed (obviously wouldn't happen in the real market, but I'm just saying).
Do you want Sony to fail? Both the PS1 and PS2 didn't get major games for a while and both had rocky starts yet in the end both consoles turned out to be the best of their generation delivering excellent games for a very long time. The same is set to happen with the PS3 as all the major exclusives that made the PS2 so successful are continuing on the system.
I think a lot of the Sony hate on SW spawns from the fact that the majority in here already own a 360 or Wii. The fact is that most casuals are still playing their PS2 and when they're done they'll more than likely move to the PS3 since by then it will cheaper and have all the series that casuals enjoyed on the PS2.
Anyway, judging by the impressive lineup Sony looks set to deliver another excellent gaming experience, so my question to you is do you want Sony to fail with the PS3? If yes, why is that?

Blu-ray is "crap"? Many devs have praised it and said it's great for gaming. All the games coming for the PS3 are "crap"?
I think it's the envy factor of being number one. You know kick them while their down. Lemmings, Sheep, Hermits all know Sony will win this gen again. That's why they scream about waiting and say stuff like "now" and not the "future". Sony is completly on a "Whole......nutta......level"
if they didnt have so much crap surrounding this thing probably no one other than some sad fanfool would want to see an end to sony..but the crap they spued so far to out do the comp is too much instead of coming out with a better product which they couldnt do hench all the crap.

I think that history will repeat itself again here. I remember back to the old wars with N64 and PS1 then again with Dreamcast and PS2 and finally PS2 vs the world or whatever. I really think that the Playstation brand is just so powerful worldwide and with games that casuals enjoy, GTA4, Gran Turismo, and Winning Eleven or whatever, some people may feel like upgrading from PS2 to PS3 is the obvious step.
I could go on and on about my life in Japan and how Sony viciously fights for the people's loyalty, but I'll spare you the boredom. Basically, like PS1 and PS2 before it, it will only be a matter of time before it makes it's way into millions of households.
I don't hate Sony at all. I have had a blast with their consoles and this Blu-Ray thing is like ok... but I am watching The Departed on Blu-Ray and it's pretty sweet. Thanks Sony.

I was just trying to show you that there are great games coming to the system. I mean, are you just going to ignore their existance? They make me want to buy a PS3...I know I wouldn't be happy with missing out on playing MGSIV, FFXIII, GT5, GTAIV etc.
Many despise Sony because we all know they had every ability to release a better gaming machien than the PS3. Lately, however, it has become clearer to the fallen faithful that Sony has other goals on it's agenda.

PS2 was great well priced good it had good games, and it used a relavent format(DVD). so far PS3 has none of those

Just like last gen. but why settle for series that are all going for at least their 4 installment? not only will the 360 have GTA4, but in place of the old franchises you listed, there's Forza 2, Blue Dragon, Mass Effect, NG2, Lost Odyssey, Saints Row, Crackdown, Splinter Cell (exclusive from 5 on for the time being), Halo3 and the best versions of multiplatform games as well. I just don't see those old franchises as being a reason to buy a PS3. I want new IP's as well and apparently Sony and their 2nd party developers are having a hard time creating those. :|
No, why would I? There is no reason to want sony to die. Sure they have made some stupid moves (599 us dollars) but even with all their flaws, they havent done anything to make me want them to crash and burn.Â

I do not want Sony to fail. They do have some great exclusives like Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm(even though it flopped), MGS4, DMC4, FFXIII, Resistance, and hopefully God of War 3. It's just that most of the games I mentioned are first party so it has to be exclusives. It would be nice to see Sony having a third party company making an exclusive for the PS3.

Playing it safe has never worked in the marker. N64 and GC are perfect examples of that.
If Sony copied their PS2 exactly people would eventually lose interest.

Price? Sony products have always been more expensive than their competitors. PS1 was $100 more than N64. PS2 was $100 more than GC and Xbox had a price drop before it too. Consumers typically wait 2 years anyway after the consoles launch to buy it and by then all the major titles will be out and the console will be cheaper. Price is not as big an issue as some here are making it out to be.

Bioshock is on PC. Mass Effect and Gears will more than likely go to PC (A major reason Xbox lost is because so many of its titles are on PC too),
Japanese games existing on 360? No impact quite clearly. It's obvious people don't buy their 360 for JRPG's judging by Blue Dragon sales. Watch the sales when its released in the US too.

I won't miss out on GTA IV. Not a MGS or DMC fan. GT is the most likely game to make me want a PS3 but it needs to offere something really special and above and beyond what Forza 2 brings. Final Fantasy is normally a big favorite of mine but I have become a little board with the series hopefully 13 or 13 VS will freshen things up. Team ICO coming up with something amazing would be a push in the right direction and I really want to see more on eye of judgement. Problem is I would need all of those to deliver for me to justify buying another console at £425. Most stuff is multiplat nowadays so I find it hard to justify owning both.
The games I bought for my PS2 were in general not the first party franchises which Sony has locked up so there isn't that massive draw for me to the console.
no because i dont the instustry to be run by M$. yes i know that nintendo will be in the running also but like this gen they might be tring to appeal to a different audience. and if MS would run this market like the run the OS market it will become very sad for gamers.

I think blueray was a mistake. because blueray is not the promonent format and it could die like betamax and it raised the price of the console by a huge amount. and sony is just being to arrogant. PS3 without blueray would have been a much better system.

I can see the PS3 just edging out the 360 purely down to Japanese sales. I would actually expect the 360 to win, 'just', in the west.
trust me its here to stay for a long run unlike some other companies ahem M$ ahem. just so u all know PS2 is still outsellin all the new gen systems and its gonna have one of the biggest title this month GOD of WAR II. btw my answer is no way.
