Next gen consoles will barely reach sub 30fps at 1080p, if they're lucky. So basically, PCs are more then a gen ahead (graphically speaking ofc).

I mean sure the PC hardware is a couple of gens ahead but I wouldn't say the same about the games. But then again it depends on which leap we're talking about.

I play Witcher 2 on ultra with ubersampling on, 1080p averaging 40fps and the game is in my opinion the best looking game ever. The quality of the graphics on vanilla right out of the box is a real treat.

Is it a gen better than the best on consoles, I don't think so. I think it's more like comparing the Wii to PS3 / 360. One has to remember that the leap ps1 ---> ps2 was BIG.

And the difference between ps1 and ps2 isn't as big as vanilla GTA4 compaired to a modded version.

Just because Rockstar didn't make it that pretty doesn't mean PC's are incapable of better.

The UC2/3 games are filled with pre rendered video clips. Cows are always trying to show off the fake ones as the real thing. That lower pic is real though cause it has a hud. GOW3 has a mix of pre rendered and real time graphics going on at the same time. Even the developer admitted that.

If we are talking about things like geometry, texture resolution, shaders, post processing effects then I agree that it is more like a half generation ahead, but when you factor in the fact that many of us are running at 60 fps and 1080p or higher...I would say that essentially adds up to a generation ahead in technical terms.

All four shots are ingame. PS3 doesn't have a printscreen button. That's the only reason PC ever wins around here is cuz the hermit's just spend years taking shots while console gamers have to rely on what they get from gaming sites. I grabed these from another forum where there's people who were actually willing to spend money on the equipment needed to take direct screens.

Listen. I have a PC. Do the games look better? Yes. Are they a "gen ahead" fuk no. Not even close.

Gran Turismo 5 may be 1080P but it looks like a full HD PS2 game at places. It's graphics are all over the place.

And no, you don't need to show me screenshots. I play the game almost every day, I know how it looks and it does not come close to PC games.

If you would have you would know that the game looks like a PS2 game running at 1080P at places and sometimes it looks great like a PS3 game.

The graphics of GT5 are all over the place and don't come close to PC games.

I think there are a lot of games that look great on consoles that aren't on PC. On a technical level they can't compete but they can still be great looking games due to art style. FFXIII is one of the better examples I can think of as it has excellent art work and isn't too bad on a technical level also.

In fact I challenge anyone to find a better character model than Kratos in a PC game. gpuking

But really, just take a look at some screens there. They look stunning.

It's going to be a long while until human models look anything near real like those car and plane models posted eailer. Hair is hard to do and that is one of the things Kratos has going for him. The Wticher 2 models are higher res but the models in both games are still a long way from looking anywhere near realistic.

I love the graphics for UC2 and UC3. But, it's usually because of my tastes rather than anything tech related. Speaking of Doom 3..... I didn't realize I still had these Doom 3 screenies in my imageshack account. For a previous gen game, it still looks okay.

I remember why I kept the above. I dislike the UAC in Windows Vista and Win 7. I remember looking at the screenie and thinking how fitting...... :lol:
