I mean, I am blown away at their ability to make 1, if not more then 1 AAA game every year.

How do they do it?

Ballroompirate

If the rumors are true about SP being 5 1/2 hours I really dont think Rfom2 will be a AAA game,I'm leaning towards to buying it but maybe for the MP only but I'm sure everyone else is pretty sick and tired of short games atm.

There are already rumors that the singeplayer campaign will be 5.5 hours? That is laughable. The game is a long way out from being completed. How the hell is any rumor like that supposed to have any merrit what so ever? The first games campaign was too long.

[QUOTE="JB730"]

fact - insomniac failed to make an AAA game last year

CajunShooter

Both Resistance and Ratchet and Clank are AAA titles. Blah Blah they didn't get AAA over here, but the majority of reviewers gave both these games AAA scores.

IGN gave both these games AAA and they are definately a lot more respectable site than gamespot.

If you try to say Insomniac is not one of the best developers so far this gen then you are just a blind fanboy. Im not saying they are the best, but definately one of the best as far as this gen goes. Less than 3 years and if Resistance 2 ends up being as good as they are planning will be their third AAA in less than 3 years.

its not just gamespot....gamerankings agrees...so you're wrong, the majority of game reviewers did NOT give either title an AAA score

the general consensus of the gaming community agrees that both ratchet and clank and resistance failed to deliver enough quality gameplay to be considered AAA titles

deal with it

insomniac is nothing more than an above-average developer

they don't make GOTY worthy titles, they don't make must-have system sellers, they don't innovate, and they haven't released an AAA title in years - in fact i can't even recall an AAA insomniac title other than the original ratchet and clank

the greats, like nintendo and blizzard, are simply better. its an insult to gaming to even mention insomniac in the same sentence as them.

[QUOTE="StealthedRogue"][QUOTE="mjarantilla"]

[QUOTE="TyrantDragon55"]That would be Blizzard, Bioware, and Valve.mjarantilla

BioWare doesn't deserve to be on that list anymore. Not after Mass Effect.

lol wut?

Wake up and learn some history. Mass Effect represents a huge decline in BioWare's quality. It's buggy, unpolished, and the side missions are extremely, extremely tedious. There's a HELL of a lot that can be improved in Mass Effect. You can't say the same about any of Blizzard's or Valve's games. Hence, BioWare doesn't deserve to be listed with them.

[QUOTE="AzatiS"][QUOTE="mjarantilla"][QUOTE="AzatiS"]

[QUOTE="jangojay"]Blizzard.mjarantilla

Blizzard making 1 every 3-4 years not 1 :P

That one game they make every 3-4 years revolutionizes the entire genre it belongs to for the next 3-4 years until their next game comes out. I'd say that's a damn sight more impressive of an accomplishment than turning out one good but otherwise inconsequential game every year.

1) ANY doubt that ANY of the BIG companies are out there that if they spend 4 year for a single game could be revolutionary?

2)Revolutionize a genre ok.Agree... What about companies like Capcom or Konami that made a whole NEW genre. Like resident evil for example.Or metal gear? Not to mention what genres revolutions we have seen from these companies thru the years (SF2 for example)Upon their games many other companies made similar games? Any doubt for that?

3)How many well known worldwide characters have been created by Blizzard? Dont forget that Blizzard is a PC game maker.Except some characters from Warcraft like Illidan or Warden (that is a rip off of warhammer lore),what character you remember from any other game of blizz? Barbarian ?

4)What if Blizzard in 4 years was making more or equal games like Capcom or Konami ? Would be that great all of them?

5) I loved Diablo and Starcraft no doubt well done games,but 1 game every 3 or more years doesnt make you big company even if its AAAA titles. IMO

1) Oh, sure. Put enough effort into any game, and it has a good potential to be revolutionary. But has any other dev company done it with Blizzard's regularity? Blizzard's continually revolutionized every genre they've made a game for since the first WarCraft. That's a flawless record fourteen years long. Even Nintendo can't claim that.

2) Capcom didn't invent survival horror. Ever heard of Alone in the Dark? Predates Resident Evil by four years, made by Atari. I'm sure there are other examples. RE only popularized it. And Metal Gear didn't invent stealth games, either. Castle Wolfenstein (not Wolfenstein 3D) in 1981 was probably the first stealth game. You give too much credit to where it's due. If Capcom and Konami invented survival horror and stealth, then Blizzard invented the dungeon crawl hack'n'slash genre with Diablo. (They probably didn't, but since what you consider to be "invention" apparently is "popularization," then I can claim the same.)

3) Who cares about this? Blizzard games involve a cast of dozens, all of them as prominent as the next. They make story-centric games, not character-centric games. Games like MGS, Halo, Mario, and Zelda all have a central hero to identify with. Except for Diablo 1 and 2, Blizzard games don't, and even with Diablo the hero is a nameless generic character. But everyone remembers Blizzard's GAMEPLAY. And in the world of GAMING, that's a much greater feat.

4) Blizzard is a much smaller company than Capcom or Konami.

5) I never said "big company." I said (or rather, I meant) "best developers." That's a qualification of the company's skill, not its production volume.

Please .

Do not bring this up again.

It has been done to death and in the end is doesn't matter. The more people who take advantage of Games Workshops excellent 30 year background the better.

They have made zero the last 2 years.

Resistance is AA at both gamespot and gamerankings.

And Ratchet is AA at gamerankings.

IF anything only nintendo and blizzard make a AAA game every year.

Well, in order to be the Jesus of game developers, a company would have to be a resounding success, be betrayed by formerly loyal supporters, die, then magically come back as the greatest thing ever. Right now, I can't think of a company that fits that description. Actually, Sega fits the bill quite nicely... Minus the "magically coming back" part.SuperSonicKirby

Nintendo fits that description perfectly. NES,SNES, and N64 were a huge success. GCN would be their death, Wii is coming back as the greatest thing ever.
EDIT: As for betrayel...Rare leaving them.

Jimmy Raynor. Sarah Kerrigan. Arcturus Mengsk. Tassadar. Fenix. Duke. Samar Duran. Zeratul. Decard Caine. Tyrael. Baal. Diablo. Grom Hellscream. Thrall. Illidan Stormrage. Malfurion Stormrage. Tyrande Whisperwind. Maiev Shadowsong. Sageras. Kil'Jaeden. Arthas Menethil. Uther the Lightbringer...

...and much, much more.

Blizzard games have a very rich universe. Pity your ignorance of the games and their lore is showing.

Oh, and as for bringing up the "rip-off of Warhammer" quote, Warhammer itself is a rip-off of Tolkien, which is a rip-off of Norse mythology.

You left off Arthas!!! Fail!!! You know why I have no pity for the WH guys? Because blizzard came to them first with thier games/ideas, they rejected them and then blizzard made their own stuff up and surpassed them in popularity. Now they are just sour :P

:P

My only problem with the Warhammer/Blizzard controversy is that the 40K fanboys carry it over to Starcraft. The fact is that according to the Starcraft Archive (A 800 page collection of Starcraft novels), Starcraft was originally a Star Wars video game by Blizzard. Blizzard wanted to keep the sci-fi theme in an attempt to do something that is not fantasy after Warcraft 2 and Bam! - Starcraft was born.
