^^topic^^

Some people thought that KZ2 was a little too grounded in present day reality with most weapons being awfully similar to their real-life counterparts. Not saying that bullets should entirely be replaced with lasers, but what would be the point of making a sci-fi shooter without sci-fi guns in it? It basically would be the Iraq War, only on a different planet. The few sci-fi weapons KZ2 did have included the Electric Gun, electric grenades and the EXO suit. Other than that, there wasn't really much else that seemed out of this world. Perhaps KZ3 will include more, but do you think this would be for the best or was the more down-to-earth approach to weaponry in the previous game just right for you?

i think that the singleplayer campaign should have a lot more alien weapons. But the multiplayer should go for the traditional bullet firing weapons.

Don't forget in Kilzzone 2 which is set like 600 years in the future, the most advanced shotgun has a flashlight attached to it. And we have more advanced Assault rifles RIGHT NOW!

Not really, I hate how in sci-fi, aliens are always little green men with anal probes.

alien weapons work pretty well in halo due to the whole shield mechanic.

Cant say i have ever seen them implemented well into another game off the top of my head.

That's a good question nerv.

Killzone 2 did have some science-fiction like weapons and gadgets though:

- Electricity gun
- Electricity grenades
- Exo-suit
- Cloaking
- Materializing AI turrets
- Air bots
- Medic reviving gun
- Anti-gravity vehicles

I don't think there needs to be so many weapons with plasma and lasers, I love the styIe of Killzone the way it is. But being realistic, 3-500 years into the future, I'm pretty sure we won't be using bullets in our guns or tires on our vehicles lol. This goes for Halo too, which is 500 years into the future.

They don't have to be weird alien weapons. But a little more "uniqueness" might not hurt. For example, imagine a Helghast rifle with a targeting system that took ricocheting into account for bullet trajectory.

by that time there wont be guns in the traditional sense, it will all be unmanned drones fighting.

I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of guns in Killzone 3. GG said they're revisiting guns from Killzone 1 and there will be 6 weapons (and abilities) per cIass in the multiplayer. In KZ2 there were only 2 per cIass. So, that's 30 weapons and abilities overall :).

for people that had never touched an FPS ever before maybe. but for anyone that had played even one, it was particularly easy. And I've played many of them..But that wasn't very hard with the near mindless enemy AI. but as it is that's not the point. The game needs to be longer, and it needs to have those unique weapons I enjoyed like the lightning gun and sniper as a more stable thing you can use...Instead of the once throughout the campaign. the alien weapons were there, they just weren't usable often unless you played the multiplayer.

Lol, A) It was not THAT easy B) I agree with the weapons C) Once again the campaign had good length, and i've played FPS games before Who are you to say for people who haven't played an FPS it would be longer than others? The first mistake was saying on easy it's 5 hours. I could play any game beat it in 5 hours on easy.

he's a lem. he's been suspended countless of times because of that. pay him no heed.

even on Normal, Radec was a pain. easy? my foot. i bet he can't finish the game in under 5 hours.

I know i'm goin on a stretch I play all my games on hard, It was challenging not as much as other games. BUT limiting yourself to normal or easy andf then telling someone the game is 5 hours is just bananas, it's meant to be easier and short due to the fact that the AI and challenge isn't really there.

I agree with this thread; all the guns especially the ones that use bullets seem so standard and old for game that is set 600 years in the future. They could at least at in a bullet counter display on the side of the gun or something or add some new looking and shaped design or a future looking sight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GMOTrIjVao at 0:40. SOmething like the c14 impaler gauss rifle in Starcraft. They dont have to add a sound effect though :)

Not really. It's a game that takes place on an alien planet in the future, but that's the only sci-fi part about it. It's not supposed to be a star wars game.

Railgun/Gauss gun could be nice. Some sound wave weapon is also cool.

Lasers and plasma-based weapons generally look stupid so I wouldn't like them in KZ.

Yep, more bolt-action and semi-auto rifles with ironsights only would be cool. :) Far more awesome weapons than assault rifles.

its easy, yah maybe if you stop playing on easy mode. Also a 10 hour camp is long enough, not sure how many other games are 10hours long. GEOW 1 and 2 are like 5-7hours long. Also not sure what you mean the alien race guns were unalble, unless you just dont know how to point and shoot. I am starting to think you never played KZ2

NO! Alien weapons are lame. Killzone was trying to mimic what war in the future would probably look like (or at least SOMEWHAT realistic). We've been using bullets for hundreds of years, so what makes people think laser type weapons are gonna be the norm in the future?

Killzone has it's weapon designs almost perfect for it's futuristic, junk-punk universe. More "alien" type weapons would do nothing but make the game more generic to other futuristic FPS titles. All KZ3 needs to do is bring out MORE weapons of the same concept (Already have the Minigun and the W.A.S.P. confirmed as new weapons), and re-introduce weapons that were in KZ1.

With the Flamethrower, Boltgun, Electric Gun, Sniper Rifle, Minigun, W.A.S.P., Shock Grenades, and probably a few other we don't know about, there will be more than enough "power" weapons available to keep the experience fresh. It's just up to the players to put down the freakin' M82 Assault Rifle, and actually USE the weapons available to them! (It would also help if GG added them in more often).

I actually barely used the M82. I would love to have the boltgun in my hands again for KZ3...If footage was released that it would be in KZ3, that would honestly make my day :P

I played it on normal and it was far from easy and was much longer than 5 hours.

And I've played plenty of FPS games.

I think KZ2 was kinda easy when playing on normal (whatever it was called). I was bothered only by ATAC (until I found that infamous tunnel under the roof) and Radec.

Elite is a completely different experience though. That is the real way to play KZ2.

Hard and Elite modes, ftw. Normal can be difficult when first trying to learn the controls, but I played the crap out of the demo (which was set to Easy by standard), so I got used to them before retail was released. Normal can be a cake walk at times once you get the game's "feeling" down, but Elite always has me on the edge whenever I turn a corner.

yes, it needs lasers, that are basically the speed of light, that you can still dodge.

The primary ISA gun was the standout, I basically used that for the whole game.

they need to make sure other weapons are as good as the main ISA gun or even feels better.
