Does Sony TGS confirm Japan is irrelevant?

I know TGS is supposed to be a Japan-centric event but after seeing today's Sony conference I was extremely underwhelmed by their game offerings - even in Japanese standards. TGS now stands for celebrating their own insularity that instead of being capable of setting the whole world on fire, are about as stale as next Call of Duty announcement.

Plus most of these games won't be out outside JP for now or forever.

If highlights of the conference are an expansion and a sequel to a Vita game and a remaster of an old game that might come to the West in 3 years then you should know something is wrong.

Didn't need that to confirm Japan is irrelevant. They've been irrelevant for the past 2 years. Nintendo flopped worldwide. PS4 is an american concept and still gets trounced by mobile games in the Japanese market. Xbox One is an American console through and through.

• Vanillaware new PS4 exclusive 100% coming to NA like any other vanillaware game by Atlus
• NiOH PS4 exclusive its a Tecmo game so almost 100% coming to NA
• Toukiden 2 PS4 exclusive 100% coming to NA

Almost that entire list is trash and games almost no one will care about. Even the few jrpgs that are released outside of Japan rarely sell well besides a few like Final Fantasy games and even those have been doing worse over the years.

Yes OP Japan is irrelevant and has been that way for awhile. There are just too many studios around the world now. Japan needs to catch up in many areas.

This thread is hilarious considering E3 2015 was dominated by Final Fantasy 7 reamke, a japanese game.

We got in the Pre-TGS Sony conference announcementes of Gravity Rush 2, BloodBorne the old hunters and Ni-Oh which looks absolutely stunning and by the way TGS has not even begun so its safe to say that we may get a few more announcements for japanese home console games.

A really hope Europe does not get left out with these great looking Playstation exclusives from Japan.

Apart from Yakuza , i think we're good with the rest.

Doesn't really have anything to do with well... anything. Especially since that was just a loud minority nostalgia blip that died out and will probably be lucky to sell over a third of the original.

@protomicroman: Uh no. Sony has always had BOTH Japanese and Western devs/pubs on their consoles. Which is probably why they lead most gens.

Yeah sure, the FF7 remake trailer on the official playstation channel in youtube has almost 12 million views but it is totally just a "minority". (sarcasm)

@Salt_The_Fries: I don't know. I actually thought the TGS conference was better then the E3 at least in terms of games. They even announced a price cut for Japan only. Didn't see that coming. Anyways, here were the games announced. I'm actually pretty psyched about several of these titles.

There were several new IP's like Nioh, For Honor, Dragon Quest Builders, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Tokyo RPG Factory's game and Exist Archive +1 more from Spike Chunsoft. Then they announce a couple collector games. Biohazard 20th Anniv (with Biohazard 1-6 and Biohazard 0 and Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD (with 3 Kingdom Hearts games). I'm stoked for Bloodborne: The Old Hunters, Toukiden 2, Gravity Daze and Gravity Daze 2 and Everyone's Golf (better known as Hot Shots Golf). I'm just hoping some of these new IP's makes it to the west. Nioh & For Honor both looked great. I want those 2 games on my PS4. In any case. Great show from Sony. I didn't fall asleep this time. The crowd didn't seem all that enthusiast about the games. No loud cheers or claps.

Star Ocean, Persona 5 and Gravity Rush 2 made it exciting for me. *shrugs*

Gravity Rush 2, Ni-Oh, Yakuza 6, and FFXIV in VR pretty much crush every hope the XBone had of being relevant in 2016. ..and PSX is still ahead.

It only proves how irrelevant the Xbone is worldwide. All those cool new Japanese games, and most of them will never see the light of day on Xbone.
